To Fall So Deep

Harry's Epiphany

Harry stomped away, breathing heavily and angry. He kicked the wall, chairs, and tables on his way to the back hallway where the elevator was. He wanted to run, to drive, to getaway, but Harry needed his sister. He entered the elevator, and rode up to the third floor loft. The doors separated, and Harry stepped into the brightly lit area. The television was on, playing some kind of romantic movie, but Gemma was not in her usual spot, cuddled and crying over the sappiness.

"Gemma?" Harry called out. He walked around, and found a broken mug on the floor by her bed. The wood floors were soaked with hot tea, and Harry bent down to pick up the shattered mug.

As Harry placed the broken pieces into the loft kitchen sink, did he notice a light coming from the bathroom. He heard a crash, and Gemma's voice,

"Ugh! Fuck!"

"Gemma!" Harry yelled, jogging to the bathroom. The door was slightly ajar, and he knocked. "Gemma, are you alright in there?"

"Yea, I'm fine!" Gemma snapped.

Harry pushed the door open. A prescription bottle lied open on the floor, pills scattered among the tile. Drops of bright red blood splattered the floor, as bloody finger prints painted the white porcelain sink. Gemma sat on the floor with her back against the oversized tub with a bloody towel pressed against her nose.

"What the hell? You're not fine!" Harry argued, falling to his knees to help his sister. "What the hell happened?"

"Nothing Harry. My nose just started bleeding, that's all. I got super dizzy trying to open my medicine. I guess I just lost a little too much blood," Gemma disclosed.

"You guess?" Harry exasperated, gesturing at the bathroom, "it's a murder scene in here! Why didn't you call anyone for help? Fuck! Gemma, you need to be more careful!"

"Okay, okay. I'm sorry. Damn," Gemma breathed in defeat. The Styles siblings sat together with their backs against the tub. It was silent for a few moments until Gemma decided to speak again, "I don't think I have too much time."

"Gem, don't say that," Harry pulled his sister closer towards him.

"Harry listen to me. I'm listening to my body, and it's telling me that I'll be leaving Earth soon,"

"No, no… You can get all the medication you need. You can delay all of this,"

"Delay death? Bro, if death wants me, he'll get me,"

"Stop!" Harry was already sobbing, holding his sister even tighter. Gemma pulled away to look Harry in the eye,

"Hey, look at me. I love you, and you mean more than the world to me. I look up to you Harry. You may be my annoying little brother, but damn do I look up to you," Gemma expressed. Tears coated her eyes, as they did Harry's. "Live life to the fullest. Follow your heart, catch your dreams, and stay positive. And Harry…" Gemma paused. Harry looked up at his sister who beamed at him, "fight for Nina. If there's one thing I learned from all those romantic movies I watch, is that you fight for your one true love. I don't get to do that, so you have to do it for me. Promise?"

"I promise," Harry choked. He buried his face into his sister's shoulder, as she comforted him.

Harry helped Gemma wash up, and got her settled back into the bed. He brewed her fresh tea, gave her a plate of Rosie's chocolate chip banana bread, and placed a new DVD into the player. Harry swept the rest of the broken glass on the floor, wiped down the spilt tea, and proceeded to clean up the bathroom. Once he finished, he re-entered the main area of the loft.

"Hey Gem, is there anything you--" Harry stopped mid sentence when his eyes landed to Gemma, who was fast asleep.

Harry turned on her oxygen tank and placed the tubes into her nose, placing the excess behind her ears. He tucked the blankets up to her chest, and pulled the empty mug out of her grasp. Harry sat on the empty part of the bed, and watched Gemma sleep. More tears started to dribble down his cheeks, completely immersed in agony.

He was about to lose one of the most important people in his life to something that was completely out of his control. Then there was Nina, who he refused to lose. Gemma was right. He had to fight for her, because she was worth fighting for. He could care less what his parents wanted, what his classmates thought, and what Ashford thinks of him. All that mattered to Harry was Nina. He never wanted anyone more than he wanted Nina. He wanted to marry her, to have her kids, to grow old with her, and even in death, dance their way through Heaven's gates together.

Harry kissed the top of Gemma's head, before turning off the television and the lamp. He left the loft, and while in the elevator his mind stayed fixated on Nina. He needed her at that moment, and even though he could get into serious trouble, he didn't care. Harry yearned for Nina's touch.

"Mister Harry, where are you going?" Rosie asked. She was already in her pink muumuu reading the newspaper and drinking tea on one of the living room sofas.

"I'm going out," Harry responded. He grabbed his backpack from the couch, and fished for his car keys. "Don't wait up for me Rosie."

"Sir, are you going to see Nina Dela Vera?" Rosie guessed. Harry hesitated. "Ah, to be so young and so in love… please be careful."

"Of course," Harry smiled. He gave Rosie a hug, and started for the main door.

Harry unlocked his car and slipped inside. He pulled out of the drive way, out the wrought-iron gates, and off the Styles premises. At the stop sign, he looked up into the sky. It was a full moon, and the stars seemed to shine brighter than ever. Harry took it as a good sign, as he drove his way to the Dela Vera residence.

Notes

Happy Sunday babes!

I hope everyone is doing well! I'm currently visiting my parents for the weekend, and I haven't been home from college in a while, so it's good to be home <3 Anywayssss, here's chapter 27, one of my favorite chapters mainly because of the Styles relationship. Major emotions for Gemma's situation, and it makes Harry more vulnerable. Hope you all enjoyed it! Have a great Sunday!

Thanks,

Commenting is the least I can do to tell you how much I love and appreciate your story, and it doesn't take too much time to do so, so I figure why not comment? But oh my gosh, I cannot believe that was the last chapter and all that's left is an epilogue. And this chapter just… I think it slightly killed me - more than you already nonliterally have that is - when you killed her off and then with Harry and everything. And freaking Jezabelle… Don't even get me started on how much I want to murder that bitch right now. The chapter is written beautifully nonetheless, and I can't wait for the epilogue. xx
