They Don't Know About Us

Chapter 7

*Justice’s P.O.V*
It was my second day in LA and I started it by going out to explore the city with Harry. We went everywhere and nowhere all at the same time. After a few hours out we decided to head back to the hotel to see if anyone else wanted to go grab lunch. Getting off the elevator we were met by Zayn looking as if he was on his way out.
“Going somewhere mate?” Harry asked.
“Yeah, I’m going to meet up with Perrie.” Zayn responded.
“Perrie as in Perrie Edwards? As in my favorite member of Little Mix and my best friend’s celebrity girl crush?” The words blurted from my mouth before I could stop them. They both wore amused expressions. I had done so well up to this point.
Zayn nodded, “That’s the one.” He responded. I fought the urge to squeal. “Do you want to meet her?” He asked.
I blinked rapidly, “Me?” I asked placing a hand over my heart. This was not happening.
He chuckled, “Yeah.”
“Okay,” I agreed without a second thought. I paused, “That’s if it’s okay. I don’t want to intrude.” I held up my hand stopping before stepping back onto the elevator.
He shrugged, “We’re just going to lunch. You can join us if you like.” Zayn offered.
“Well, why are we still standing here?” I responded as Harry followed us into the elevator. I turned to Zayn. “You just became my favorite member of One Direction.”
“I fly her out to LA. You introduce her to your girlfriend. You’re her favorite. Sounds right.” Harry commented sarcastically. He nodded as if he had answered some vital mental question.
I smirked, “Introduce me to Selena Gomez and we can discuss it.”
Zayn titled his head. “Why Selena Gomez?”
I scuffed, “She’s totally my celebrity girl crush. Have you seen her?” My head shook almost immediately. “I’m sorry the crazy took over.”
The door of the elevator slid open allowing us to step into the lobby. Little Mix was staying in the hotel across the street. We made it there without any problems. Harry and I waited in the lobby while Zayn went up to Perrie’s room. I pulled out my phone deciding to try to conquer another level of Candy Crush.
“All I need is one more move,” I whined as the game ended and I was still stuck on the same level. Harry chuckled causing me to look up as Zayn and Perrie neared us. “Be sane,” I ordered myself before smiling politely. Zayn gave brief introduction sparing the part of be totally freaking out before we came over here.
“Oh my gosh I love your shoes.” Perrie complimented pointing at the black suede studded sneak-away wedges on my feet. “Where’d you get them?” She asked as I glanced down.
“I ordered them from this website with really cute clothes.” I responded in an excited voice.
She smiled, “They’re great. So is your hair.”
“Thank you. You’re being too nice.” I replied feeling my cheeks grow warm.
“Where are we going?” Harry asked as we stepped out of the hotel. I shrugged. I was one of those people who never knew what she wanted to eat until someone suggested something that I didn’t want.

*Harry’s P.O.V*
After the concert that night we all went out to eat. On our way back to the hotel I asked Justice if she wanted to go for a walk and she agreed. We were now walking around a LA park enjoying the quiet night.
“This will be my first birthday where I’m away from my family.” Justice spoke looking out at everything around us.
“Really?” I asked. She nodded. “Well then we have to make it special.”
She laughed, “Being in California for the first time ever makes it pretty darn special. Of course if this was San Diego this would be even better.”
Her words caught my attention. “Why San Diego?” I questioned.
“That’s where my brother is stationed. He’s in the Navy. We don’t get to see him much. We’ll see him even less when he moves to Germany.” Her voice wavered slightly.
“I’m sorry to hear that.” I spoke in a low voice.
She shrugged, “It’s okay. I’m just happy he’s doing something.”
I searched for another topic sensing that she didn’t want to discuss this one anymore. “What do you want for your birthday?”
Justice pulled away from her hold of my arm. “What?”
“What do you want for your birthday?”
“From you? Nothing.” She shook her head. “You’ve already done too much Haz. I mean letting me come out here is a pretty big birthday present.”
I waved off her words. “That was selfish. I can’t not get you anything.”
“Yes you can.” Justice argued. “Really. It will be fine.”
“No,” I shook my head. She folded her arms. “I think you’ll find I can very persistent.”
She smirked, “I think you’ll find I can be very stubborn.”
A smirk coated my lips as well. “Well then we’ll make for an interesting pair.” It fell silent as we stared at each other waiting for one of us to break. I could see her wavering. Her stare got weaker and she began to move away. I smiled right as she broke groaning out a fine.
“If you must get me something, you can get me a Minnie Mouse birthday cake.”
“You want a Minnie Mouse birthday cake?” I snorted.
She nodded vigorously. “Minnie Mouse is my favorite Disney cartoon character and who doesn’t want cake on their birthday?”
I nodded, “Okay. A Minnie Mouse cake it is.” We continued walking only stopping in front of a large fountain that reflected the city lights.
“That’s pretty.” Justice smiled stepping closer. “I like things like this. Walks in the park, picnics, hikes, and all of that. People seem to forget about the simple things.”
I stuck my hands in my pockets. “I like to go outdoors to get away from it all. The noise, fans, and everyone wanting something from me.”
She shook her head, “That must suck having everyone around you expecting something in return.”
I shrugged, “It isn’t the best, but every now and then you come across someone who doesn’t want anything.”
“Like who?” She asked looking up at me.
I took a bold step towards her, “You.” I answered in a soft voice. The light reflected off of her brown eyes making them shine. I felt myself drawing closer and instinct taking over. Justice stretched on the tips of toes in anticipation. It was now or never, I thought to myself as I closed the space between us and gently placed my lips on hers. It was our first kiss.
