Perfect To Me

Out Of The Whole World

“Abby. Abby. Abby…ABBBBBYY!!!!” Harry yelled, ripping me from my slumber. I, sleepily, opened my eyes and looked at the person at fault for me being awake right now.

“What?” I grumpily said as I shielded myself with the blankets on Harry’s bed.

“Wake up, silly. It’s half past 1 and I’ve got lunch ready,” he said as he slowly pulled the blanket away from my face.

“What’d you make?” I asked him as I raised an eyebrow at him.

“Your favorite, grilled cheese with a side of tomato soup.”

“Oh my god, I love you,” I told him as I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and sat up.

“I thought you might say that,” he said while standing up and holding a hand out to me. I gently took it and he pulled me up into his chest. I walked over to his dresser and pulled the top drawer open where I took out one of his many plaid shirts and slipped on over my bare body. Harry and I had some making up to do after he got sick, and he was very persistent on it being the day he was better. I finished buttoning up the shirt and Harry led me downstairs by the hand. Once I walked into the kitchen I noticed he had our food sitting on table and bouquet of roses was sitting next to one of the chairs.

“What do you want?” I asked him as soon as he helped me into my chair that was next to the flowers.

“What makes you think I want something?” Harry asked from his spot next to me.

“You only buy me flowers when you want something,” I told him while pulling my grilled cheese into tiny pieces.

“So, I just felt like being sweet for once.”

“Harry,” I sternly said.

“Fine. My mum called me this morning while you were asleep and requested that we host a family dinner, here at mine, with both our families tomorrow night,” he finally spit out, and my eyes about flew out of my head.

“Why on earth does she think that’s a good idea?” I asked him while setting my spoon down.

“Claims she wants to get to know my future in-laws,” Harry said, very nonchalantly.

“But why now? Why the day before the opening for my gallery?!” I exclaimed. “How does she even know if we’ve talked about marriage?”

“But I thought we did when I gave you that promise ring?” Harry asked, he was upset. You could tell by the look on his face.

“I mean, yeah but we haven’t thoroughly discussed it.”

“Then let’s discuss it, yeah?” Harry questioned and I just nodded my head because I put myself in this situation.

“Where do we start?” I asked him, pulling my legs onto the chair to get comfortable.

“Do you want to marry me?” Harry asked and I looked at him as if he were dumb.

“Of course, but not right now.”

“Okay. When would you like to get married?” Harry asked again as he bit into his sandwich.

“Well, we’re both still pretty young, so maybe in like two years? Like I’d be okay with getting engaged this time next year, then use a year to actually plan the wedding. What about you?” I asked him, curious as to what he thought.

“I’d like it to be a bit sooner, like sure in a year I’d like to propose but I don’t want to wait another year to get married, I’d be okay with 4-6 months afterwards.”

“I would be okay with that, maybe even 6-8 months. 4 months is too short notice for everyone,” I told him and he nodded his head in understanding.

“But, just curious, what if I did propose to you, say next week, would you say yes?” Harry asked and I just looked at him as if he were dumb again.

“Of course, Harry. I just think for the health of our relationship, it’d be better if we waited until we were more mature. In plus, not saying I don’t doubt our relationship, we’ve only been dating since April of last year and for a month and a half we were broken up. I think we need to really see if we’re what each other really want to settle down with,” I, point blank, told him.

“I see what you’re saying,” Harry said while he grabbed my hand that was resting on the table.

“In plus, that year will give us time to move in together and I think that should be our next step,” I told him while I went back to eating my lunch.

“So you want to move in with me?” Harry pondered and I just nodded my head. “That wasn’t a thought, it was a question. I’m asking you in you want to move in.”

“What?” I said with my spoon inches away from my mouth. “You want me to move in? Right now?” I asked.

“Yes.”

“Why?” I questioned with raised eyebrows.

“Because then it’ll give us exactly a year to figure everything out,” Harry shrugged.

“No,” I simply told him.

“What? Why not?” He asked, and I could tell I had upset him.

“Because, I love this house, but it’d be more yours than mine. I don’t want to move in and then make you do all these changes to the rooms. I’d rather we find a house together and make it ours.”

“So we’ll move in together?” Harry asked, with a smile on his face.

“Yes, Harry. We’ll move in together,” I told him, smiling back, and going to start eating my food.

“Then I’ll call the realtor tomorrow,” Harry said and I happily rolled my eyes at him.

“So what should we make for dinner tomorrow?” I asked him after a few moments of silence.

“I was thinking fajitas because those could good conversation starters,” Harry said as he took our empty dishes to the sink.

“And how is that?” I asked him with amusement.

“Well, you could be like ‘hey, mind passing me the cheese? By the way, what do you do for a living?’ I don’t know, it sounded better in my head,” Harry said with a chuckle as he walked back over to me and pecked me on the forehead.

“You’re so silly,” I told him. “I was thinking of doing some kind of pasta, because that’s easy and everyone loves pasta.”

“That’s so true. Pasta is one of my favorite dishes.”

“I could do a pesto Alfredo pasta with chicken in it. We could have roasted red potatoes with some parsley on them, and some grilled asparagus. We could also have a small Caesar salad to begin with, and for dessert we could make a red velvet cake!” I exclaimed to him.

“So I have to actually help you cook all of this?” Harry, sadly, asked.

“It was your mother’s idea to have this dinner so you’re helping, mister,” I told him as I got up and went to sit on the couch in the living room. “You’re also buying all the groceries.”

“You kill me,” Harry said as he plopped down beside me and put his head in my lap.

- - The Next Day - -

“Harry, stop putting candy and chips in the cart,” I yelled at the childish boy, who was currently seated in the cart.

“But I’m gonna need a snack while we cook dinner!” He exclaimed while putting yet another bag of chips into the cart.

“Then eat some fruit,” I told him.

“Are you saying I’m fat?!” He exclaimed while turning to face me.

“No. You love fruit,” I stated and he just nodded his head.

“When are your grandparents and dad coming over?” Harry asked as he fiddled around with his phone.

“I told them 7 so they have enough time to take a nap after their flight,” I informed and he hummed in response. I walked over to the produce to grab everything I needed from this department and when I turned around Harry had a pair of panda ears on his head and looking at me with a goofy smile on his face. I quickly took my phone and snapped a photo before posting it to twitter.

@AbbyEGrimes: Awww, my cute little panda bear. @Harry_Styles +insert link+

“How dare you,” Harry, feigned, hurt. I smiled at him before placing a kiss on his waiting lips. We finished collecting all the groceries we needed and Harry paid for everything like I told him he would. We were just walking outside to go load the bags into Harry’s car when we were bombarded by the paparazzi.

“Harry! Is it true Abby broke you and Taylor up?” One man yelled as he blinded me with his camera flash.

“No,” Harry loudly stated while trying his best to shield me from the annoying pests.

“Is Abby pregnant with your child?! Is that why you two got back together?” Another man asked. “She’s put on some weight!” And that stabbed me in the stomach. Not only did the whole pregnant thing hurt me, but calling me fat really hurt. I’ve always had a high amount of self-confidence but ever since I was pregnant and had my miscarriage it’s gone down a bit. I looked up at Harry who was already looking at me to make sure I was okay. He shot me a small smile before kissing my temple.

“I love you, don’t listen to them,” Harry whispered in my ear and I wish I could just let his words help me ignore them but I couldn’t. We finally got to Harry’s Range Rover and put all the bags in the back before he led me over to the passenger side of the car that was surrounded by the paparazzi.

“Did you two realize you’re matching?!” One more yelled and I bunched my eyebrows together until I looked at what I was wearing and what Harry was wearing. We were matching. We both had on grey shirts, he had on black pants while I had on a pair of dark washed jeans, and we both had on black peacoats.

“They’re right,” we both said simultaneously before laughing.

“Excuse me! Move out of the way!” Harry yelled as he tried his best to make a clearance for us to get to the car door. After a few more shouts from Harry he was finally able to open my door and get me in safely. As I watched him walk around the front I saw paparazzi touch his car, and the anger on Harry’s face was priceless.

“Do NOT touch my car! I don’t care that you lost your balance but you don’t touch my car. I could sue you, you know! Now I’ll have to take the time out of my busy schedule to wash it so I get your filthy fingertips off of it!” Harry yelled at the guy as he continued to work his way to the driver’s side. He finally got in and I leaned over the center console to kiss his cheek.

“Can you really sue him for touching your car?” I asked him with curiosity.

“I don’t know, probably,” Harry said with a smile on his face. After a quiet drive with the only sound of the music coming from the radio we finally made it back to Harry’s. We quickly grabbed all the bags and ran inside to avoid the cold. Harry helped me out of my coat before I ran into the kitchen to start getting everything ready because our families were due here in an hour.

“Alright! What do you need me to do, love?” Harry said as he clapped his hands and walked in the kitchen after putting our coats away.

“Cut up the potatoes and then toss them with olive oil and parsley,” I told him as I filled a pot with water for the pasta.

“Do you think we should tell our families that we’re moving in together?” Harry asked as he chopped the potatoes.

“I don’t know. I mean I’m sure your family and my grandparents will be happy but my dad’s a different story.”

“Yeah? Why’s that?” Harry said. Taking a moment to stop what he was doing to look at me.

“Harry, you know why. He doesn’t understand why I got back together with you after you gave me the ultimatum of you or the baby.”

“But is he happy for you? That we got back together.”

“Yes. He’s only happy because he knows I’m happy. I just don’t know how he’d react if he knew we were going to move in together.”

“I’m sure he’d be happy as long as your happy with the choice, Abby. Are you happy, Abby?” Harry asked me while he fixed up the potatoes.

“Of course I’m happy, Harry. He just still has his questions that need answers, you know?” I told him.

“I don’t blame him, I still feel awful about it. I feel like I could have reacted better.”

“Harry, stop. We weren’t ready to be parents and I was just stubborn and didn’t want to listen to you.”

“Don’t you feel a little bit awful though?” He asked after putting the potatoes in the over for me.

“Of course I do! But I’m not going to let it tear me down. Especially now that we’re back together and we’re getting serious. We have plenty of time for me to get pregnant again,” I told him as I wrapped my arms around his waist and looked at him.

“You want kids?” He asked with a hint of a smile on his face.

“Of course,” I told him while I placed a kiss to his chest.

“How many?” Harry asked as he played with my hair.

“Hm, I’d like three but I wouldn’t want to have one girl and two boys because then the girl would feel left out. And I wouldn’t want two girls and one boy because the boy would feel left out, although I’d be okay with that because then the boy would be really sweet and sensitive towards girls’ feelings,” I rambled and when I looked up I saw Harry smiling at me. “What about you?”

“I don’t care how many kids I have. I just want at least one girl so I can name her Darcy,” he told me before leaning down and giving me a peck on the lips.

“Darcy and James.”

“James?” Harry questioned.

“I’ve always wanted a boy so I could name it James. James Benjamin Styles,” I told him with a silly smile on my face.

“I like it,” Harry said. “Darcy Anne Styles, has a nice ring to it too.”

“Darcy or James first?” I asked him.

“James,” Harry quickly responded. “So he can protect our little Darcy from the mean people.”

“My thoughts exactly. And I want them to be close in age, like a year apart.”

“We’re one in the same,” Harry said as he kissed my nose. I stood on my tippy-toes so I could press a kiss to his lips but before I could the doorbell grabbed our attention. I looked at the clock and saw it was almost seven.

“Go get that will you? I need to finish getting everything ready,” I told Harry as I walked back over to the stove. I saw Harry go to open the door as I fixed up the pasta.

“Oh, Jettttt!” My grandpa sang as he walked into the kitchen. I quickly spun around and looked at him.

“Gramps!” I yelled as I ran over to him and hugged him. “Woah, I can actually wrap my arms around you, you’ve lost so much weight!” I exclaimed as I held him at arm’s length. He’d been on a strict diet ever since he had his heart attack last summer.

“Hello beautiful,” he said with a cheery smile on his face.

“Don’t forget about your gran! He hasn’t lost that much weight because he can still hide me!” Gran said as she pushed Gramps away and gathered me in a hug. “Oh my sweet, sweet, baby.”

“Hi Gran,” I said as I squeezed her back. Once I pulled away from her I looked to see if my dad walked in yet but I saw that he and Harry were, both, not in the room.

“Where are dad and Harry?” I asked.

“Talking in the living room,” Gramps said as he looked to see what I was cooking.

“Oh, okay. Harry’s family should be here shortly,” I told them while I went back to mixing the ingredients for the cake.

- - Harry’s POV- -

“What did you want to talk about, sir?” I asked Abby’s dad as we finally took a seat in the living room.

“What happened last September.”

“I had a feeling you would. I just wanted to say after Abby and I got back together I knew this talk would happen but I wanted it to be in person,” I informed and he nodded his head.

“I as well. Look Harry, I like you. You make my daughter so incredibly happy, I’ve never seen her so happy before. But it really pissed me off when she calls me crying one day saying you told her to get an abortion or you’d break up with her,” Phil expressed to me. “I just want to hear from you, why you told her that.”

“Phil, it’s just that I’m in a successful boy band, worldwide, and she’s an up and coming photographer. Who at the time was busy preparing for her gallery, I just knew that it wasn’t time for her to be pregnant or for us to be parents. We have our whole lives ahead of us still and a baby would slow that down. My mum always raised me to be responsible for my actions, but if I weren’t famous and she wasn’t so busy I would have manned up and be a father.”

“But there is always the option to get it adopted?” He asked as he intently stared at me.

“I know that, I do. But knowing both Abby and I, we would have gotten attached and wouldn’t be able to go through with it. And I just know that the press would never let either one of us live it down, because we can both obviously afford to take care of it.”

“That makes a lot of sense. I don’t want you to think I hate you now, I was just very curious as to what your reasoning was. I just want to thank you though, for taking care of her when she had her miscarriage.”

“It’s no problem at all. I love her,” I told him while looking into the kitchen at the mentioned girl.

“I can see that,” Phil said with a smile on his face. “So, truce? Even though we never really had a problem at all.”

“Truce,” I said as I pulled him into a hug. “Phil? Can I ask you a question?”

“Of course, son.”

“I don’t plan on doing it any time soon, but when I do I want to know I have your blessing. And I’m going to ask Bennie and Meredith too because they have such huge roles in Abby’s life, but could I have your daughter’s hand in marriage?” I asked him and Phil’s mouth fell open. It took him a few minutes to respond and it caused me to be extremely nervous.

“You two are very young but I can tell you guys are happy because Abby never shuts up about you when I phone her. So yes, I do give you my blessing. But I suggest you two move in together first, to see if you really like everything about one another,” he suggested and it just made me smile even more.

“I know she’ll kill me for telling you this, but we’ve already decided to move in together, I spoke to a realtor today,” I told him, waiting for his response.

“Well, then I can’t wait to welcome you to the family,” he said as he stood up. I stood up and we both hugged before walking into the kitchen. Abby immediately threw herself into her dad’s arm and they greeted one another for a minute or two. Abby walked over to me and wrapped her arms around my torso and looked up at me.

“How’d it go?” She whispered to me.

“Surprisingly well,” I told her with a smile on my face. I leaned down and pressed a kiss to her lips, a passionate one.

After about 10 more minutes of waiting my family finally arrived, and Gemma brought Tom along with her. We introduced everyone to one another and so far it was going good. I helped Abby set the table and put all the food on people’s plates before bringing them into the dining room. We all took our seats and said grace before digging into the food.

“Abby this meal is amazing!” Anne said as she shot me a smile.

“I made the potatoes,” I, cockily, said.

“That’s the ONLY thing he did,” Abby said with amusement in her voice.

“Oh whatever,” I said while flicking a piece of asparagus at her.

“Watch it,” she said while holding up another piece of asparagus.

“Test me, babe,” I said to her while raising my eyebrows.

“Alright you two, settle down,” Gran said to us and we quickly dropped the food from our hands and onto our plates. I smiled at Abby and winked at her. We finished up dinner before we served everyone the cake, and that’s when our parents decided to ask all the questions.

“So, Harry and Abby, what are your plans for the future?” Des, Harry’s dad, asked.

“Um, well. I’m just going to go ahead and spit it out, Abby and I are going to go look at houses later in the week,” I told them

“What for?” Gemma said.

“Are you daft?” I said to her with squinted eyes.

“Harry,” Mum sternly said.

“We’re moving in together, Gem. Do I need to break it down more?” I said to her with a playful smile on my face.

“Wanker,” she mumbled.

“Why doesn’t she just move in at your place, Harry?” Gramps asked from the end of the table.

“Well, I suggested that to her, Gramps. But Abby here, is complex, and said she’d rather we get a house we both like and make it represent us, because if she moved into my house then it’d be more mine than hers and she didn’t want to come in and redecorate after all my hard work.”

“I never said your decorating was hard work, in fact your decorating sucks,” Abby said with a smile on her face. Everyone around the table erupted with laughter as the words left her mouth.

“I trust the new home will have enough rooms for the intermediate family to stay in?” My mum asked.

“’Course, mum. That’s on our list of necessities,” I reassured her and she smiled at me.

“My little baby is so grown up,” she told me while reaching across the table to grab my hand that was resting on top.

“I thought I was your baby?” Gemma asked with a hurt expression on her face.

“You are, but he’s my little baby,” Mum reassured her and I just smiled smugly at Gemma.

“Well I hope that a soundproof master bedroom is also on that list,” Gemma said and I saw Abby choke on her water before a crimson blush appeared on her face.

“Gemma! That is no talk for the dinner table!” Dad said to her and a look of shame appeared on Gemma’s face.

“Yeah, Gem,” I told her.

“What? We already know they have sex, Abby got pregnant remember?” Gemma tried defending herself.

“Still, we don’t want to know about it!” Dad said, and he used the voice that said the conversation is over.

After a few more hours of family dinner we saw Phil, Gran and Gramps off and then showed my family where they would be staying. Eventually, after cleaning the kitchen up, Abby and I made our way upstairs to my room. As soon as I closed the door I pulled my shirt off and took my jeans off as well before climbing into bed. I watched as Abby brushed her hair before pulling it into a bun on her head. She peeled her clothes off before throwing into a pile on the ground, a pile full of her clothes, before opening one of my drawers and putting on one of my shirts, my Ramones shirt to be exact.

“What are you staring at?” She asked once she turned around and saw I was staring at her.

“Nothing. Just enjoying the view,” I said to her as she climbed into bed. “I love it when you wear my clothes,” I mumbled into her ear and pressed a kiss to the spot right below her ear.

“I love wearing your clothes,” she said as she snuggled up to me.

“Tonight went well,” I told her as I put my arm around her.

“It did. I’m glad everyone got along, I was nervous they wouldn’t,” Abby mentioned and I started playing with her hair.

“Me too, but no need to be nervous now,” I told her.

“I have a need to be nervous right now,” Abby said and I stopped playing with her hair.

“Abby, everything will go fine at the opening tomorrow. Stop worrying,” I told and brought her face up to look at me. I placed a passionate kiss on her lips.

“I guess you’re right,” she mumbled before getting comfortable again. “Goodnight, Superstar.”

“Goodnight, Wonder woman,” I said and quickly my eyes fluttered into slumber.
