Perfect To Me

Don't Overthink

“Abby, sweetheart, I don’t feel good,” I whined to Abby as she sat next to me on my couch. “Do I have to go tonight?”

“Yes, Harry. You can’t skip the Brits when you’re performing,” Abby said as she played with my hair.

“What if Taylor starts some trouble with me?” I asked her, staring into her ocean blue orbs.

“I doubt it, you two are broken up now. You’re a big boy and you can handle anything,” Abby assured me. It’d been a month since I broke it off with Taylor, and three weeks after I broke up with her, Abby and I made it public that we were seeing one another again. I let Taylor take the reins on how the public would hear we broke up and she did it big, she left halfway through a holiday with me and said she broke up with me because of something I said.

“I wish you were coming,” I whined, some more, to her.

“You know I’d love to go with you, but I’ve got work to do for the gallery opening next weekend.” Abby finally finished up all that was needed to be done for the gallery and now she was just doing some last minute details with the set up and arranging who would be at the opening. The boys and I recorded a single like I suggested, it was the song ‘One Way or Another’ and we also went to Africa where we recorded stuff for a self-made music video that Abby helped direct. The work she’s put into this gallery becoming a charity event as well is completely remarkable.

“Who am I going to kiss when we win an award?”

“Kiss Louis,” she muttered while drawing up another set up she was considering.

“But I don’t feel good, Abby!” I pouted while drawing her attention away from her work; she placed her hand on my forehead and then moved it over to my cheeks, checking to see if I had a fever.

“You are a bit warm. How about this, go to the awards show, win the award, perform and then we’ll celebrate by me taking care of you right after, how does that sound?” She asked me and I thought about it for a second.

“Will you text me sweet things all night?” I asked her and she nodded her head. “Then I’ll see you after the show. I expect my jammies to be out and ready along with a nice hot bowl of soup.”

“First of all, your jammies are your boxers, and sometimes you in all your glory. Secondly, you’ll take what I give you,” she joked with me as she leant down and pressed a kiss to my nose.

“Fine,” I told her as I turned my attention to the television that was on some boring show that I didn’t really care for.

--4 hours later—

“Harry, Harry over here!” Paparazzi yelled in my direction as the boys and I made our way down the carpet for the Brits. I always hated the carpets for award shows because it’s like Christmas morning for the paps. I was about half way down the carpet when my manager told me a reporter wanted to interview me, she led me over to the man and then quickly stepped off to the side.

“Hello, Harry!” The man greeted me.

“Hello,” I slowly told him, smiling into the camera.

“I’m Grant from BBC Radio 1 and I was just hoping I could ask you a few questions,” Grant told me and I immediately gave him consent. For about 2 minutes he asked questions about the boys, the touring life and if we planned on recording a third album any time soon, then he brought up Abby.

“So, in the tabloids you’ve been linked to your ex-girlfriend, Abigail Grimes, a photographer here in London. Are the rumors true that you two are back together?” He asked.

“They are very true,” I told him while I turned my attention to the video camera, letting a giant smile take place on my face.

“Was Abby the reason you and Taylor broke up?” There it was the bombshell question that I knew I would get asked.

“No, not at all. Taylor and I didn’t click when we were together.”

“So you and Abby click?” Grant pressed.

“No. We mold into one person. Abby’s a great person, she really cares for people and she’s a wonderful person to surround yourself with,” I told him and watched as he nodded his head.

“Since we’re talking about Abby, will you be escorting her at the opening of her gallery next week?”

“I will be, but I won’t be Harry Styles then. I’ll be Abigail Grimes’, the featured photographer’s, boyfriend.”

“Where is Ms. Grimes tonight? We were all hoping she’d be attached to your arm.”

“She’s actually at home working on some last minute things for the gallery. I tried really hard to convince to come with me but she wasn’t changing her mind.”

“That’s awesome. All of us over at Radio 1 are really rooting for you two in the long run. It was a pleasure talking to you, mate,” Grant said while sticking his hand out for me to shake, which I obliged to. That interview wasn’t as bad as I was expecting it to be, although management has been prepping me all week for Taylor questions and Abby questions, so I guess I was just prepared. The boys and I kept walking down the carpet, stopping every now and then to take some photos, and eventually we were escorted to our table and waiting for the show to begin.

--Abby’s POV—

I was currently waiting at Harry’s house watching the Brits. I was supposed to attend with him but I had a lot of last minute preparations to do for the gallery opening. I was sat on Harry’s couch, in the living room, with Sage curled in a ball next to me while I ate some popcorn and watched artists accept their awards and even watched some perform. Harry broke up with Taylor around January and we waited a few weeks until Harry and I made our relationship public. I’ve been receiving a lot of hate because people think I broke them up, but technically they weren’t together. Things with Harry have been really good since we got back together, we had one scuffle during the holidays, Harry was supposed to kiss Taylor when the ball dropped in New York on live television and I wasn’t too happy about that. I didn’t speak to him all day and when the clock struck midnight, at my Gran’s house, the doorbell went off and on the other side of the door was Harry, waiting to give me my midnight kiss. Turns out he got on the first flight to Cincinnati because there was only one person he was starting 2013 off by kissing, and that person was me.

I was anxious to see the boys perform tonight, especially Harry just because he is under the weather with a sore throat. I just hope he does plenty of vocal performances and drinks a ton of water before going on. They were just about to announce the award before Harry’s performance when I felt my phone buzz; I quickly picked it up and saw I had a message from Harry.

About to go on. Good luck kiss? I smiled at his words before typing up and sending my response.

XXXXXXXXXX. Love you babe, you’ll do amazing. Just have fun, XOXOXOXXXX I set my phone down and watched the winner give their thank you speech. Just as she finished speaking I quickly turned the TV up as they announced the boys. The boys sounded amazing, and looked amazing too. Lou always did a good job styling them and putting things that I could actually see them wearing. I watched Harry carefully, and with a smile on my face, you could tell he was having a hard time by the look of concentration on his face. They had so much energy on stage and it was getting me excited, you could really tell they were having the time of their life. As the boys finished up I stood on my feet and clapped for them even though I knew they couldn’t see or hear me because I’m not there. I pulled my phone out and quickly sent Harry a message.

You sounded so good! You should be sick more often (; Hurry home, XX I knew those words would cheer him up because there’s no doubt he’s going to beat himself up about his performance. Sure, he lost his breath towards the end but he still sounded amazing. I quickly walked into Harry’s room, during the commercial break, and pulled out his favorite pair of sweatpants and his favorite shirt to sleep in before going to his laundry room and throwing them in the dryer. I wanted his clothes to be nice and warm by the time he got home, it’d help break his fever. Next I ran into the kitchen and set out all the items I would need to make him a cup of tea and then quickly ran back to his room to turn down his bed so he could climb right in once he got home.

I’d better win girlfriend of the year after tonight.

--Harry’s POV—

I wasn’t happy with my performance tonight but I brushed it off because Abby told me I sounded great, and she’d never lie to me. Trust me, she’s told me I’ve sounded like proper shit before, but that’s why I love her. The show was over and the boys and I managed to win the award for Global Success, which meant a huge amount to us. We were just doing our final closing interview and then I’d head back to mine where Abby was waiting to take care of me.

“Congrats on the big win, boys. We all knew you’d take it home,” the interviewer, schmoozed, to us. I was having a hard time paying attention because I was so exhausted.

“Thank you! It means a lot to us!” Louis told the man and I quickly looked at him, and he looked back at me while raising his eyebrows at me. I let a yawn out and Louis just nodded his head knowingly. I listened to the guy ask multiple questions and I listened to the boys answer him, when suddenly I was being pulled out of my tired state.

“Huh?” I said to the interviewer. “Sorry, I’m ill and exhausted so I’m having a hard time focusing.”

“No worries. We just asked the rest of the boys how they would be celebrating tonight and we were wondering the same thing for you?” He kindly asked and I quickly shot him a smile.

“I’m gonna head home to my girlfriend, who is waiting to take care of me and help me get over what’s gotten the best of me all day.”

“So no big parties for you?” He asked and I shook my head. “Well I hope you have a great night with your girlfriend and I hope you feel better soon!” He asked us two more questions after that before we were escorted to our cars.

“Night, Haz. Feel better, alright?” Liam said as he bid me farewell. I just nodded my head and gave him a hug.

“Harold, who’s gonna be my right hand man tonight?” Louis whined while he moved to stand in front of me.

“Niall. I’m really under the weather. I’ll make it up to you next weekend,” I told him while I hugged him goodbye. Niall and Zayn both said goodbye to me and told me to tell Abby they said hello before I climbed into the SUV and gave the driver my address. I let my head roll backwards until it hit the headrest, and I closed my eyes hoping to get a bit of nap in before I got home.

“Mr. Styles? Sir, wake up we’re at your home,” the driver said as he held the door open for me and the cold London air hit me as I stepped down. I gave my driver a tip and as I turned around to head inside I saw Abby hiding down the walkway to greet me. She instantly pulled me into a tight hug and I buried my face into her hair and took in her aroma.

“How do you feel?” She mumbled into my shoulder as I still held her close.

“Worse than I did this morning,” I told her and she just made a sound of acknowledgement.

“Come on then, let’s get you inside where it’s warm,” Abby said as she used the blanket, which was wrapped around her, to wrap around me and placed the beanie that was on her head, onto mine as she led me inside. Abby closed the front door and helped me out of my suit jacket and took the blanket for me. I turned around and planted a kiss on her forehead.

“Your sweatpants and t-shirt are lying on your bed, nice and warm. Go put them on and get into bed. I’ll be in with tea and soup in a few minutes,” Abby told me as she gave me a small push towards the stairs.

“You’re the best,” I told her before kissing her temple and going up the stairs. She was right; my clothes were fresh out of the dryer and instantly started making me feel better. I threw my clothes from earlier tonight into the corner of my room and climbed into the, already turned down, bed and pulled the duvet up to my chin. I stared at the door until Abby walked through it a few minutes later with tea and soup in her hands. She set the bowl and cup down on the nightstand before seating herself on the edge of my bed, close to my head. She pressed her hand to my forehead and I just stared into her eyes while she worked her magic.

“You’ve still got a fever,” she said, more to herself than me. “Here, sit up and drink some tea,” she said while helping me sit up and blowing on my tea at the same time.

“How’d I get so lucky to get a girl like you?” I asked her after taking a few gulps of my tea. The heat felt great on my sore throat.

“You weren’t lucky. I was unlucky when we met, remember?” She said as she looked up at me with a smile on her face.

“I like to see it both ways. You had an unlucky day and I had a lucky day because I met the love of my life,” I told her as I grabbed her hand.

“I like sick Harry, he’s sweet,” Abby said as she leaned forward and pressed a quick kiss to my lips.

“You’ll get sick, sweetheart,” I told her as I ran my thumb over the back of her hand.

“Harry, I don’t care if I get sick from kissing you.” I just smiled at her while gazing into her eyes, it was like looking out at an ocean at night time, it was never-ending.

“Think you can eat some soup?” Abby asked after a few moments of silence. I nodded my head and watched as Abby fed me a few spoonful’s of chicken noodle soup. Before she could feed me another I put my hand out, signaling I was done. “Harry, you only had three bites. You need to eat more,” she told me as I took another gulp of tea.

“I’m full and I’m exhausted,” I told her as I sank my body lower down the bed so I was wrapped in the warmth of my duvet again.

“Alright, but tomorrow you’re eating, okay?” She asked as she grabbed my cup and bowl.

“Yes, baby.” I felt her place a kiss to my forehead before walking out of my room and going back to the kitchen to put my dishes away. Just before I fell into a deep slumber I felt Abby climb into bed, plant a kiss on my temple, and wrap her arms around me to successfully be the big spoon in our cuddle session.

“I love you Harry,” I heard Abby say just as my eyes slipped shut.
