Perfect To Me

Take A Breath And Let The Rest Come Easy

Today is the day of the opening and to say I’m freaking out would be an understatement. I’m going crazy and it’s like I can’t find anything. I was running around my apartment trying get everything organized. Just as I ran past the living room for the umpteenth time Harry walked through the door.

“Abby, baby, where are you?” He shouted from the entryway.

“Bedroom!” I shouted as I ripped through my closet, once again trying to find the perfect outfit for tonight. The event itself isn’t big and fancy like the red carpet for the Grammy’s, it’s more like what you would wear to a wedding, nice but not too nice.

“Why are you freaking out? I got your text,” he said as he crossed the room to sit on my bed.

“I don’t know what to wear, Sage is acting stubborn and I just I’m nervous!” I expressed. Harry stood up and walked over to me as he placed his hands on my hips.

“Love, just take a deep, deep breath,” he instructed and I did as he said. Once I released I slowly opened my eyes and looked into his. “Show me your options of clothing. I do need to match you, ya know?” He smiled at me while placing a kiss on my forehead.

“Should I try them on for you?” I asked as I walked towards my closet.

“Absolutely! It’ll calm you down,” Harry said as he lay on my bed. I slipped my sweatpants and t-shirt off while throwing on a maroon dress and pairing it with black heeled boots. I walked out of my closet and did a small turn for Harry.

“Maroon, your favorite color, and very vintage-y. I like the cut outs, but I feel like it’s too…cold. Like you should warm it up a bit. Show me your next choice,” Harry said as he shooed me back into the closet. I tried on a number of dresses and skirt combos, until I put on my final option. A coral peplum dress with a cutout at the bottom of the torso, and I paired it with some nude heels. I cautiously walked out of the closet and when Harry laid eyes on me, I thought his eyes were going to pop out of socket.

“Yes! It’s so bright and brings out your eyes!” He exclaimed as he stood up and walked over to me. “In plus I could totally see myself ripping it off you afterwards.”

“Harrrrrry,” I whined to him.

“What? You look hot,” he said as he brought his lips to my neck.

“We can’t right now,” I said to him but he didn’t stop.

“Why not? You can shower and it’ll be quick!” Harry said against my neck and it caused goose bumps to rise on my skin.

“Fine,” I growled and pushed him on the bed.

After twenty minutes of playing hide and seek in the sheets Harry and I scampered off to the bathroom to save water and shower together.

“You’re perfect,” Harry said as we dried ourselves off.

“Quit being corny,” I told him as I playfully slapped his chest. He pulled me into him and placed a kiss on my lips.

“I can’t help but speak the truth,” he mumbled against my lips. We were torn apart by a knock on my apartment door. “I’ll get it.” Harry walked into my room and pulled his clothes on again before going to answer the door. I quickly dried my hair and pulled on my sweatpants before going to see who was at the door. I walked in the living to find my grandparents and my dad sitting on the sofa.

“There’s my Jet! Harry told us you were nervous,” Gramps said as he hugged me.

“I am,” I shyly said.

“Well there’s only one way to fix that!” He exclaimed as he ran over to my record player. After a few minutes of him fiddling around with the player, ‘Bennie and The Jets’ by Elton John started playing. I smiled at Gramps and we spent the duration of the song singing and dancing around the living room. The smile never left my face the entire time, and he was right. This definitely calmed me down.

“You’re the best,” I told him as I pulled him in for a hug.

“I’d do anything for my baby, Jet,” he said while placing a kiss on my forehead. I looked at the time and saw I had an hour to get ready before we needed to leave.

“Shit! I gotta get ready!” I exclaimed while running into my room. I quickly curled my hair and put it into a simple up-do before doing my makeup. After I finished my makeup I walked back into my room and pulled my dress on and I was pulled away from my focus when someone knocked on my door. “Come in,” I quietly said and Harry appeared in the doorway with a suit bag in his hand.

“Need some help?” Harry asked as he closed the door and walked further into my room.

“Please?” I said as I turned around and felt his hands glaze over my skin as he zipped my dress on.

“Do you need to get dressed?” I asked him as I walked into my closet to grab the shoes that I paired with the outfit. He nodded his head before taking his jeans and his shirt off. I watched him pull his black slacks on, skinny legged, and then pulled his white dress shirt on. I watched as he struggled with buttoning it until I walked over and pushed his hands away.

“Here, let me,” I smiled at him as I did the last four buttons. He handed me his coral tie and I gave him a questioning look.

“Lou dropped it off, I told her to go pick me up one,” he said as he watched me tie the tie around his neck. Once I finished I dragged my hands down his chest to flatten his shirt.

“You look very handsome,” I said as he tucked his shirt in and finished his outfit by putting his belt on.

“You look beautiful,” he said with a smile adoring his face.

“Thank you,” I said as I sat on my bed to pull my shoes on. Harry knelt down and strapped my shoes for me. I thanked him with a kiss on the lips as I pulled the jewelry on that I picked out.

“Perfection,” Harry said as he helped me stand up and had me do a little twirl. I giggled at him before placing another kiss on his lips. “Come on, we’ve got to leave.”

“The boys are going to be there right?” I asked him as we walked out of my room.

“The boys and the girls, they wouldn’t miss it for the world,” Harry told me. We joined my family by the door before we walked down to the SUV waiting to take us to the venue. After a 30 minute drive we arrived at the gallery and as soon as Harry and I stepped out of the car our ears went deaf, momentarily, as all of One Direction fans screamed.

“I’m sorry they bombarded your gallery,” Harry whispered into my ear as we made our way to the door.

“It’s okay, go sign some autographs, I’ll wait,” I told him with a smile on my face. We walked over to the barricades the fans were at and I patiently waited behind Harry as he took some photos. Harry had just finished up and we were headed inside when a couple of fans decided to bash me.

“Harry you could do so much better than that fat piece of trash!” One fan in particular yelled. When I turned to see who said something a bunch of other fans started yelling at me.

“She’s a whore!”

“She’s a homewrecker!”

“She broke up you and Taylor! You guys were perfect together!” Those last two comments struck a nerve with me and I bolted inside where I locked myself in the coat closet. I broke down as soon as I sat on the ground. They don’t know what happened with Taylor and Harry. They were never a real thing. How could people ruin this night for me? I kept pondering all these thoughts until a bunch of frantic knocks came from the door.

“Abby, sweetheart. Open the door, it’s Harry.” I wiped my tears away and weakly opened the door. One look at me and Harry enveloped me in a hug. “Baby, don’t listen to them. You are none of those things, and they don’t know about us. They don’t know what we have. We’re in love, remember?” Harry asked as he pulled away and wiped my tears off my cheek.

“But, they’re right. I am a homewrecker,” I cried to him and he quickly shushed me.

“No. No you are not. You didn’t wreck anything, Taylor and I had nothing. You and I have everything,” He said as he pulled me in for another hug. “Don’t let them ruin your night, babe.”

“Make them go away then!” I yelled at him, and he knew I wasn’t saying it was his fault. Because if it weren’t for his fans he wouldn’t be as successful as he is.

“I will, I will. I’ll handle it, okay? I’ll go talk to security and have them make the fans leave. You fix your makeup and go show off your talent, okay?” He said, wiping away the last of my tears.

“Okay,” I weakly said.

“Smile, you’re too pretty to frown.” I nodded my head with a sad attempt of a smile.

“That was a poor smile!” Harry said with a big smile on his face and then began tickling my sides until I erupted with a fit of giggles and huge smile took over my face. “There’s my pretty girl’s smile!” Harry beamed at me and I couldn’t help but smile up at him.

“I love you,” I said to him as I pressed a kiss to his lips.

“I love you more,” Harry told me and pulled me in for another hug. I loved his hugs because he’s bigger than me and he just swallowed me up with his arms.

“We’d better get out of here,” I told him as I turned the knob and opened the door. We both walked out and Harry quickly went to look for security while I went to find my boss.

After socializing with many co-workers and making me way around to have a look at the final project I felt Harry rest his hands on my waist from behind. I smiled as I turned around to greet him.

“I handled everything. The fans are gone and we can now enjoy this special night,” he said as he looked into my eyes. Harry and I walked hand in hand throughout the gallery as I showed him all the pictures, many of which he was in. Most of the photos he was in were just of his back though, except one.

“Wanna see my favorite photo from Africa, and well all of my photos?” I asked and he nodded his head. I dragged him by hand, excitedly, to the last photo in the gallery and I pointed at it. It was a black and white photo of Harry with a bunch of kids from the school in Africa hanging off of him and he had the biggest, happiest, smile on his face.

“Wow,” he said and I looked up at him to see a smile on his face. “I can really feel the emotion in it.”

“Every time I look at it I always get happy,” I commentated. “The happiness from the kids shine and the happiness on your face, it makes my heart swell because the emotions in this photo are so real. You made these kids’ life when you all showed up and played with them. They wrote me letters, which I made copies of and framed then around this photo.” I told him and when I looked up I saw he was reading some of the letters.

“They’re so sweet,” he quietly said as he continued to read one.

“They’re all living in such bad conditions and constantly struck with tragedies, yet the time you spent with them, they were capable of just forgetting all the hard times they were experiencing. You gave them the time to act like the kids they are.” When I looked up I saw tears forming in Harry’s vibrant, green eyes.

“I miss them,” Harry quietly said.

“I do too,” I added as Harry pulled me into his side and rested his head against mine. We sat in silence, just staring at the photo until we felt many arms wrapped around us.

“Hello, lovebirds! We’ve been looking for you everywhere!” Louis exclaimed in our ears. We turned around to see the rest of One Direction and the girlfriends standing there.

“I’m glad you all came!” I told them as I pulled each one into a hug.

“We wouldn’t miss it for the world,” Eleanor said.

“There’s only one person missing,” I sadly said as Charlotte was missing from our group.

“I’m right here!” I heard a girl say from behind the rest of the group. The realization of the voice hit me and I pushed through the guys and hugged the life out of my best friend.

“You said you couldn’t make it!” I exclaimed, still hugging her.

“I know! I wanted it to be a surprise!” She said, just as loud, into my ear.

“Oh my god, I love you!” I told her. Everything that happened earlier instantly washed away because my best friend flew out to London, in the middle of a semester, to be here for me.

“Alright Charlotte, stop stealing my girlfriend!” Harry said as he playfully pulled me into his arms and tried to ‘protect’ me.

“I have the best, best friends ever. Seriously,” I said as I took in my group of friends. “Let’s take a photo!” I pulled my dad over to us and shoved my phone is his hand and he waited while we all got in a group to take a photo. Then my dad took and photo of Charlotte and I, followed by one with just Harry and I. The rest of the night was spent with me doing some interviews and taking a bunch of photos with the CEO’s of the company. Finally, it came time for me to give my speech. I walked up to the podium and cleared my throat.

“Hello, I’m Abigail Grimes, the featured photographer, but you all can call me Abby. I had the opportunity to travel to many different countries to capture the beauty of them all. Originally this was just supposed to be a plain old gallery, but then I went on my trip to Africa. I was paired with a comic relief program based in London that helped kids and other families living in the villages of Africa. It was a life-changing experience, especially after I met my good friend Amadi, for a kid that experienced a lot of heartbreak, he was the happiest kid I’d ever met. He was in dire need of his vaccine for malaria and I eventually paid for him to get it, because I couldn’t see this happy kid get sick, but the next week as I was leaving I was informed he was infected with the disease. They weren’t sure if the vaccine would help any or the extent of healthcare he would need. I was a mess when I got back and I owe a big thank you to my boyfriend, Harry. We were watching ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ my favorite pick me up movie when the idea to make this gallery a fundraiser came in mind. I voiced the idea to him and then he decided to help me make it more known by having him and the rest of his band record a single and donate all profits to the program and even donate the money they saved from their self-made music video to the program as well. I couldn’t have done this without the help of my friends and family, it was definitely stressful but seeing the end result makes it all worthwhile. I hope that you all find it in you to donate some money to this relief program and really take a minute to watch the documentary I filmed on my second trip back and see for yourself the things the kids go through. Thank you all so much for showing your support,” I finished and just as I was going to step down from the podium, someone raised their hand. “Yes?” I asked.

“What happened to Amadi?” A woman with ginger hair asked.

“I later found out that Amadi was able to receive the attention he needed and he is now 10 years old and living healthy. If you take the time to watch the documentary you’ll see that he makes an appearance and you’ll see for yourself why this boy had such an impact on me,” I told her and she nodded. I answered a few more questions about some photos and my time spent in Africa when we all moved to the screening room to watch the documentary. The boys made plenty of cameos, as well as volunteers, and many of the kids impacted. By the end of the night I’d signed many autographs and learned that we raised enough money to get a whole village their vaccines for malaria. I was so proud of myself, for devoting my time to something so big and end up successful in the end. We were just about to leave when my boss called me over to the TV screen to show me something. He handed me a box of Kleenex and pressed play.

“Hi, Abby Wabby Not So Crabby!” Amadi said as his face shined on the TV. My mouth dropped because I had no idea this was going to happen. “It’s your best friend, Amadi! I couldn’t thank you enough for your support, I thought for a second I was never going to become a professional footballer for Africa, but thanks to you and all your hard work, I’m still in the running! You’ll be the first person I thank when I win the golden boot at a world cup! Also thanks to you, my whole village is vaccinated,” Amadi beamed at me and I couldn’t help but let the tears fall. “I wish I could do our awesome handshake together again, but time will tell when I see you next! Catch you on the flipside, girlfriend,” Amadi ended the video with, and snapped his fingers as he said girlfriend. I couldn’t help but giggle along with him at the term I taught him while I visited with him. I used a Kleenex to dab at my eyes.

“Why are you crying? That video was supposed to make you happy, not sad!” A thick African accent came from behind me. I quickly turned around and saw Amadi, himself, standing in front of me.

“Oh my gosh!!” I screamed as I pulled him into a hug, his laughter filling my ears. “What are you doing here?” I asked him as I held him at arm’s length.

“Your boss contacted my family and got them to allow him to fly me out for your opening! It was my first trip ever, and it was on a huge plane!!” He exclaimed with a smile on his face. “While I was here I even met some professional footballers and they let me practice with them, Abby! I showed them whose boss of course!”

“Wha—I, I can’t believe it! Somebody pinch me because I must be dreaming!” I said and soon felt someone pinch my arm, that someone being Niall. “Ow, Niall!”

“What? You asked for someone to pinch you,” he defended himself.

The rest of the night the boys, the girls, and our families took Amadi around London showing him all the best sights to see at night. The smile never left his face and neither of our smiles faded either. Eventually we had to say goodnight so he could go to bed but I didn’t let him leave until we did our handshake ten times and promised I’d hang out with him every day until he had to go back.

When I got back to Harry’s where I was staying the night, we walked up to his room and he helped me out of my dress. I watched him walk over to his dresser where he opened the top drawer and tossed me a flannel shirt. As I started to button the shirt Harry walked over and moved my hands away, and he slowly brought his lips down on mine. We took things to the bed where we explored one another on new levels and just as we had been resting after that work out, we heard a soft knock on the door. I quickly covered myself with the blanket and pretended to be asleep.

“Come in,” Harry said, his voice cracking causing me to laugh. “Sh,” he whispered to me as he sat against his headboard.

“Seriously? Like I said, soundproof walls.” Gemma said from her spot in the doorway. That’s all she said before closing the door and going back to her temporary room. I peeked my head out from under the covers and looked at Harry, we instantly busted into a fit of laughter. We laughed for a solid five minutes until we were able to settle down from our high.

“Maybe she’s right, then we could have sex all the time,” Harry playfully said to me as he lowered himself and curled into me.

“Doesn’t sound too bad now,” I told him as I played with his hair and he let out a content sigh. “I should probably put that flannel on now.”

“No. Stay like this,” Harry whined as his fingers glided along my bare abdomen. “I like you like this the most.”

“Harry, anyone could walk in and I don’t want your family seeing my boobs!” I exclaimed to him as I made no movement to put a shirt on.

“Your mammaries, darling,” Harry said, using his favorite word for boobs.

“Oh my gosh! I hate that word,” I said with laughter.

“I know, that’s why I said it,” he said as he rolled on top of me and pressed a kiss to my lips, a very passionate kiss.

“Hmm, of course. Always wanting to get a rise out of me,” I said against his lips.

“You get so hot and flustered, it’s hard not to get turned on,” Harry said and I couldn’t help but blush.

“I don’t want to disturb the whole house, Harry,” I whined to him as I felt his hands brush along the inside of my thighs.

“We can be quiet,” he whispered against my lips as he picked me up and brought me down to the floor.

“The floor? Really?” I said to him. “I don’t want scars!”

“Well, we won’t wake anyone with my man thrusts,” Harry said and I couldn’t help but laugh. Once we settled down Harry and I went for a quiet round two and once we finished Harry stood up to lock his door and carried me to bed where we slept until the afternoon.

Notes

Sorry this update SUCKS MONKEY ASS. It took me so long to fix all the errors in this that I've decided to never write while I'm sick and delirious AGAIN.

Anyways, on to some more important news because y'all don't care about my life (jk, maybe?), the end is near for this story, but have no fears! There is going to be a sequel. :) There will probably be about 3 more chapters, maybe one more, left of this. Bittersweet :''(

XOXO,
