Effie's destiny

“If the deal didn’t exist..” he started.

“But it does Lou and it’s better this way and we both know it deep down” interrupted Effie finally speaking. “It was amazing as always but you know how I feel about the whole love bullshit” she added before getting her clutch. “Shall we go now?”

Louis smiled and went to kiss her temple in a protective way. They hailed a taxi and headed to Raffles where Louis’ friends were waiting for them.

In the taxi to the club Louis had his hand on Effie’s. She has grown up in a very wealthy environment and he knew she was used taxi rides and all the rest but he just wanted to hold her hand. She was his best friend, his oldest friend. He was first friend with Andy her oldest brother then he met Callum and finally the youngest shy one, Effie.

Louis will always remember the day he met her, she was coming back from school upset because a boy had called her “fat”. She was 4 and he was 7. She was a little chubby but apparently her parents thought she was gorgeous and never did anything because they loved her no matter what she looked like. Andy and Callum were upset to see their little sister so touched by a simple word and Louis was just shocked to hear that her schoolmates could not see how pretty she was. He probably fell in love with her that day. It wasn’t real love as he was only 7 but for him it meant a lot. As she grew up she built walls protecting herself from harsh comment but she was also digging her own hole by comfort eating. Louis didn’t care about her physical appearance because she had become her friend, her best friend.

He maybe was her best friend but she still kicked him in the balls when he told her he wanted to be her first. She laughed so hard that she was crying but when he interrupted her by kissing her she understood how serious he was. She wasn’t his first one and to be honest she still don’t understand why he did that for her. That same night he took her virginity but that same night she also took his heart. They made a deal: never let feelings ruin their friendship because one day he would find a great girl that would suit him better than her. She was 17 at that time and a year later she left for France where she lost all the weight.

To say Louis is proud of Effie is an understatement. She is so strong, so funny, so beautiful but so fragile at the same time. After their first time they did it again, often. He knew her by heat and she knew him just as well. They were just friends with benefits but Louis was not seeing anybody else and eventually realised he loved Effie when she told him she wanted to lose weight and was going to that slimming centre. But for their friendship’s sake he kept his feelings for himself and stuck to the agreement.

He met a girl when Effie was away. All of a sudden Effie was no longer here and girls were coming to him. He would still talk to his friend at least once a week but things were changing, he was changing. He fell in love, stayed with that girl for almost 2 years. They broke up about 3 months after Effie’s return.

FLASHBACK

“Callum is Effie upstairs?” asked Louis when his friend opened the door.

“Yes but let me warn you, she’s in one of those days. She has been throwing away all her old clothes. Our mother bought her dresses today but she wants jeans and tee-shirts and nothing fits her anymore. We are now much bigger than her and can’t lend her our clothes “ replied the young man

“Dear… I will try to talk to her see if she wants to go out with the group”

“Good luck with that mate. I’m off to see the others. See you in a bit” finally said Callum exiting the luxurious house when Louis made his way upstairs knowing the place by heart. He softly knocked on Effie’s door. When he heard her curse he decided to enter without her approval, she probably hadn’t heard him.

“You know you are sexy when you are angry” he said with a smirk leaning on the door frame. She was beautiful before losing weight but now she’s drop dead gorgeous and she still doesn’t realise the effect she has on people: admiration, jealousy, envy, lust, desire and Louis was not indifferent to her charms, he wasn’t before so why would he be now?

“Shut up Tomlinson” she harshly said clearly upset. “Do you have jeans I could borrow because nothing fits me and I’m going fucking crazy” she eventually added turning to face Louis.

“My jeans will be too big for you babe…”

“Not as big as these ones. Why did I lose so much weight? Tell me why?” she was now on the verge to tears. Louis can’t remember when was the last time he saw her cry, maybe something like 10 years ago. “I think I made a mistake Lou. They all hate me. Nobody wants to talk to me anymore. I feel so alone. I should have stayed like I was” she said tears finally running down her cheeks. She seemed so fragile, ready to break. It broke Louis’ heart a little seeing her like that.

“You have me Effie. I’m never leaving you. They are just jealous of how strong you are, they know that they would never have been able to do a third of what you did. I admire you! I’m so proud of you babe and you are so beautiful, so strong, so sexy, so…” He was interrupted by Effie kissing him tears still falling on her cheeks. He cupped her face and deepen the kiss completely forgetting about his girlfriend and the world around them.

“I… Thank you Louis” she said finally pulling away from the tender kiss.

“Shh baby. I didn’t tell you all that to make you feel better but because it’s true. Your brothers think the same; you should see how they talk about you all the time. I think they are a bit jealous of you” replied Louis slightly stroking her cheek before kissing her again, enjoying her gorgeous plump lips sliding his tongue along them asking for permission that she soon gave to him. “I missed you so much” he said after several minutes.

FLASHBACK

All that is to know after that is that Louis broke up with his girlfriend not able to deal with the attraction he had for Effie and be with that girl at the same time. He moved to London a few months later but still kept his agreement with Effie, going to Newcastle regularly where she was studying.

It’s no longer love, just strong passion, respect, lust but most importantly it is friendship. He cared for her and wanted her happy no matter who she was with.

As they arrived at the club Louis squeezed her hand and they left the cab once Louis had paid for the fare.
