Alexis was searching the web through her laptop. All the electronics, clothes, and her guitar she payed for. Her room was more like a prison. The abandoned house she found with her two sisters was a dump. It was creaking constantly. To top it off, she was an orphan. A squeal tried to force it's way through Alexis' throat. She swallowed it down, not wanting to wake her sisters. They each were asleep. They didn't care about Hollywood life. But she did. Especially a certain boy band by the name One Direction. She took out a sketch book. Pulling up a picture of the boys, looking at it for a couple seconds before bending her head down and drawing. The image came out of the group of boys laughing and having a good time. Alexis sighed. She remembered her almost squeal. One Direction was coming to town. She had been saving money for a ticket. Happy she was twenty, Alexis listed her information down. She'd worked super hard to get a back stage pass and front row seats. This was important to her. She wanted to show the band group her drawings. Alexis yawned as her receipt printed out on her portable printer. Straightening her beanie, she crawled to her pillow. One Direction was performing the next day. Reaching to her neck to touch her butterfly necklace her mother had given her, she sighed when she felt it there and drifted off to sleep.
The next day, Alexis woke up to sunlight pouring in through the window. She yawned and checked the time. The concert wouldn't start for another few hours. Grabbing her guitar, she headed to the private park. She wasn't a member but never got caught. Jumping the fence, Alexis found the way to her special tree. Getting out her guitar, she began to strum. Alexis started singing Live While We're Young by One Direction.
Alexis:
Hey girl I'm waiting on ya, I'm waiting on ya
Come on and let me sneak you out
And have a celebration, a celebration
The music up, the windows down
Yeah, we'll be doing what we do
Just pretending that we're cool and we know it too (know it too)
Yeah, we'll keep doing what we do
Just pretending that we're cool, so tonight
Let's go crazy, crazy, crazy 'till we see the sun
I know we only met but let's pretend it's love
And never, never, never stop for anyone
Tonight let's get some and live while we're young
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh (and live while we're young)
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Tonight let's get some
And live while we're young
Hey girl it's now or never, it's now or never
Don't overthink, just let it go
And if we get together, yeah get together
Don't let the pictures leave your phone (oh oh)
Yeah, we'll be doing what we do
Just pretending that we're cool, so tonight
Let's go crazy, crazy, crazy 'till we see the sun
I know we only met but let's pretend it's love
And never, never, never stop for anyone
Tonight let's get some and live while we're young
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh (wanna live while we're young)
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Tonight let's get some
And live while we're young
And girl, you and I
We're about to make some memories tonight
I wanna live while we're young
We wanna live while we're young
Let's go crazy, crazy, crazy 'til we see the sun
I know we only met but let's pretend it's love
And never, never, never stop for anyone
Tonight let's get some and live while we're young
Crazy, crazy, crazy 'til we see the sun
I know we only met but let's pretend it's love
And never, never, never stop for anyone
Tonight let's get some and live while we're young
Wanna live, wanna live, wanna live while we're young
(C'mon, young) wanna live, wanna live (wanna live while we're young)
Wanna live, wanna live, wanna live while we're young
Tonight let's get some
And live while we're young
Alexis finished. That was her favorite song by One Direction. She looked at the time. Still two hours.
Alexis P.O.V.
I looked at the time on my watch. Still two hours. I groaned. This concert was real important to me. Being the middle child out of my sisters and I, it was hard. Natalie, (the oldest) protected me. She wasn't doing so well. I know she started cutting even though she won't admit it. Ever since mom and dad died, we were struggling. With the little money they left us, we bought a plane ticket to America. They were murdered. Natalie was 18, I was 16, and my littlest sister, Sarah, was 15. We had gone for ice cream and a stroll through London. Yes, we're from Britain. I know it seems weird. But that's where we were born and raised. All the time I was depressed. I don't remember the last time I laughed. Much less smiled. We knew he was still out there. That's why we had to run. Moving to America gave him less chances of finding us.
Louis P.O.V.
The boys and I were in this private park thing. It was cleared out so no screaming fans would attack us. That's what we thought. I was looking around. And under a tree, was a girl with brown hair. She was wearing a grey beanie, jeans, a red T-shirt, and neon green and pink tennis shoes. In her lap was a guitar.
"Hey lads." I whispered, "Look over there."
The boys followed my finger. Clearly the girl hadn't seen us. She was very pretty. On her face, her expression read more of depression and sadness. A two year old could see this.
"I thought they had cleared it out?" Liam asked.
"Let's go see what she's doing." Harry suggested.
We snuck over to a tree behind her. Before any of us could say something, she began strumming her guitar and singing Live While We're Young. I was surprised. Her voice was beautiful though. After she finished, she just sat there. It looked like she was thinking. Finally, she stood, placed her guitar back in its case, and straightened.
Alexis P.O.V.
I put my guitar back in its case. Then I stood up. Hearing some rustling, I looked in the direction it was coming from. I saw some boys. Looked like there was about five. Rolling my eyes when I saw them try to hide behind a tree.
"I can see you. Don't know why your trying to hide though." I called.
Without looking to see if they had come out, I picked up my guitar and headed home. I climbed up the fence and dropped my guitar in the bush on the other side. Landing next to my guitar, I picked it up and started the walk home. My house really wasn't far from the park, but I still hated the walk. Walking through the door, the first thing that greeted me was Sarah crying.
"Sarah what's wrong?" I asked. I was concerned. Sarah only cried if it was something concerning myself or Natalie.
"Alexis! Natalie locked her door and won't come out. I'm afraid she's doing it again." Sarah cried.
I went pale. I knew I did. Running up to my sister's room, I banged on the door.
"Natalie! Get your ass out here!" I screamed.
There wasn't a reply. Taking a bobbing pin from my pocket, I quickly picked the lock. Natalie was sitting on the ground. A piece of glass was in her hand. There were bloody cuts all over her arms. Running over, I snatched it out of her hand. I went to the window, pulled it open, and chucked it as far as I could. My eldest sister, was crying. I grabbed her in a hug. Silently I rocked her back in forth. Slowly I stood up and grabbed the first aid kit. I patched up Natalie's already scarred arms. Natalie looked lost.
"Natalie, what the hell were you thinking?" I nearly screamed.
"It takes the pain away." she mumbled.
I sighed. Pulling her up from the floor, I yanked her downstairs with me. Sarah grabbed Natalie in a death grip. She was sobbing. Looking at the time, I noticed I should be going to the concert now.
"I'm going out okay. Sarah, if you get worried about Nat, call me immediately." I instructed.
Natalie sent me a death glare. I shrugged it off. Going to grab my receipt, drawing pad, and iPhone 5, I looked at the picture of my parents, Natalie, Sarah and I. A silent tear trickled down my cheek. Whipping it away, I walked back to the living room. I told my sisters they'd be asleep by the time I got back. We said our goodbyes and I was out the door. Walking down the street, I sighed. I sold my car before we left London. I missed driving. I had my license and everything, it was in my pocket with my phone. I heard the screams before the building came in sight. It was the very first time One Direction had come to Leadville, Colorado. By pure luck they decided to stop in Leadville instead of Denver. Yeah, I know. All the way in Colorado. We flew into New York and got a rental car. Taking turns driving day and night, we finally reached Leadville. We agreed to stay here, and have lived here ever since. Eventually, the building they were performing at came into view. Making my way to the ticket booth, I handed the lady my receipt.
"Okay miss Andersen. May I please see your drivers license?" the lady asked.
I pulled it out and handed it to her.
"Okay. I just need you to sign here and you'll be set!" she grinned.
Picking up the pen, I scrawled my name on the piece of paper she had handed me. She passed me my ticket and back stage pass.
"Thank you!" I informed.
She smiled and nodded her head.
Making my way inside, I handed my ticket to the person at the gate. He nodded and let me through. They had put one of those bracelet things on my arm. Finding my seats, I sat down. People were flooding in. Looking at my watch, I noted that it would be about ten minutes until the concert started. After the agonizing ten minutes had passed, the lights came on. Music filled the background and about ten seconds later, One Direction was on stage singing Up All Night. The music made me forget about my worries and I was lost in the music. The boys were speaking now.
"I'm Harry." Harry started.
"I'm Liam." Liam continued.
"Niall here." Niall added.
"Zayn in the house." Zayn grinned.
"And I'm Louis." Louis ended.
"And we're One Direction." they ended together.
After that, they played What Makes You Beautiful, One Thing, Tell Me A Lie, and Moments. I was happy. No, I didn't laugh, scream, or smile. It was just to hard. Depression was still running my life. The concert ended and I stood up. Bunches of fans were leaving. While a select few were heading to where we'd meet One Direction. I clutched my sketch book. Reaching up, I gently touched my necklace. It gave me courage and I kept going. I wanted to be very last in the line. Once at the boys, I sucked in a gulp of air. The boys all grinned at me.
"Hello love. What's your name?" Louis asked.
"Alexis." I replied in a small voice.
Niall saw the sketch book I was holding.
"What's that?" he asked.
"I um like to draw. And I drew something's of you guys." I nervously replied.
Louis P.O.V.
Wow. I was surprised this girl wasn't fangirling over us. And the fact that I've seen her before really nagged at me. She clearly looked nervous. When she told us about the drawing she did, Zayn spoke up.
"Can we see them?" he questioned.
She nodded. Opening her sketch book, she pulled out some pages. Each one of us got a drawing of ourselves and a drawing of all of us together.
"Wow. These are brilliant love." I grinned.
Looking up, she was smiling.
Alexis P.O.V.
I couldn't believe it. After what seemed like eternity, I smiled. I forgot how much it made me feel. Happy that is. Because of that one remark, I was slowly crawling my way out of my hole of depression. And I knew it too.
