Chapter 31: That Was It (Tori’s P.O.V.)
This was a big day. Today was the day that we were going to be releasing our two songs: Party Like There’s No Tomorrow and I Can Still Remember. I was so excited. Too be honest, I’m not even sure how excited I am.
I checked the clock, seeing that I had about twenty minutes before Liam would be here to pick me up. I just continued to glare at the two dresses that I had to choose from: a royal blue dress that flow straight to the floor with one strap that went around my neck or a strapless black dress that flowed to the floor. I really wished Amber or Natalie was here and could help me pick out my dress, but she wasn’t. Louis was probably going to pick her up right now.
I looked at the designs of the two dresses. The blue dress had a scatter of glitter in the fabric, while the black one was just plain fabric. I decided that for tonight simple would be better.
I slipped into the dress and checked myself over in the mirror. I nodded, this was the right choice. Staring at my hair for a few minutes before deciding that I would just leave it alone.
My room was then filled with the sounds of my phone vibrating. I looked around, trying to remember where I had left it. After two buzzes, I found my phone in my jeans I had just taken off.
“Hello,” I answered.
“Hey Tori,” I heard Liam’s voice.
“What’s up?”
Liam sighed, “I can’t come pick you up. I know I promised that I always would, but the others are running behind and we can’t get down there to get you in time.”
“Oh okay,” I said.
“I’m sorry, Tori.” He apologized.
“It’s okay,” I told him, “I understand.”
“Thanks, Tori,” he said.
I smiled, “Don’t worry about it. I’ll see you there.”
“See you,” I could hear him returning my smile before we hung up.
I sighed as I turned to grab my heels. I really wasn’t the biggest fan of driving in them, but I guess I really didn’t have any other choice.
“Bye Ranger,” I cooed as I wrapped his head as I left my room.
My mom stuck her head out of her room, “Is Liam here already? I didn’t hear him pull up.”
“He can’t come get me,” I explained. “I have to drive myself.”
“Oh,” she said, “Well have a good time dear.”
I gave her a hug, “Don’t worry mom, I will.”
And like that, I was out the front door and climbing into my car. I checked the traffic before I headed out down the road. Once I was free, I flipped on the radio. I chuckled to myself as I listened to Another World come on.
So many memories flooded back as I turned the song up. That was the song that started it all for me with the boys. We were still goofing off and singing as we headed home from our first day hanging out. We were on our way back from Pub Neutral and they all said that Zayn and I sounded great together. From there, we had our first day in the studio and Louis picked out I Hate How Much I Love You for Zayn and me to sing. It turned out great and was the reason that we had the release tonight.
And Zayn. I was so hard to believe that I was dating the famous Zayn Malik from One Direction, but then again, it wasn’t. Yes, he was famous, but he was still just a person. It was really great to just sit around with him and be ourselves together. I can still remember our picnic date as if it were this morning. My hand went to rest on the necklace that around my neck always. I had only recently noticed that he had it engraved. It read: Our love is infinite. Tori & Zayn
I loved it.
I realized that the song had stopped and the DJ was talking about the release tonight. I smiled as I grew closer to it. I couldn’t wait to release these songs with the guys.
I rounded a corner, seeing headlights coming at me. They weren’t in the other lane, they were in mine. I swerved to the right as the car flew passed me. I turned the wheel, directly my car back onto the road.
But I came back up to fast and lost control. I tried to straighten back out, but I couldn’t. I was filled with fear as my car leaned too far to the right and began rolling. And that was it.
