Chapter 23: An Unwanted Call (Tori’s P.O.V.)
I could not get last night out of my mind. I couldn’t believe that I had kissed the Zayn Malik, no he kissed me. Every time, I would just tell myself that he was just a friend of mine, not a celebrity.
I had to push that aside now. Amber, Natalie, and Cody were over and we were waiting on the guys to show up. They would be leaving to go back to work on Wednesday and we all had to back to school tomorrow. It had been decided that we would all have a movie night like we had the weekend before. I was only hoping that this movie night was better than the last one that we had. I really didn’t want to have another freak out.
That was when we all heard a knock at the door. I jumped to my feet and opened the door. I was greeted by a group of smiles and hellos. The boys slowly walked into the house one-by-one, giving me a hug as they each passed. The last person in the door was Zayn. I felt my heart race as we shared a really brief hug.
“So what are we going to watch?” Louis asked as he plopped down on the couch. He slipped his shoes off and propped his feet up on the coffee table.
“Oh dude,” Amber said as she dramatically held her nose, “are you seriously trying to kill us?”
Louis pouted at her, “That hurt.”
We all started to laugh at them as they continued with their little charade. It was rather comical to watch them.
“Okay,” Liam interrupted, “but seriously, what are we going to watch?”
Then I began to sift through the movies that were in the living room. It took a few minutes, but we finally decided on watching the A-Team. I was fine with this. I loved this movie and I can’t really tell how many times I have watched it.
We were all enjoying the movie when Amber and Natalie got an idea.
“Popcorn!” they both yelled as they smiled at each other. They launched themselves to their feet and darting for my kitchen.
I sighed as I heard, “Tori! Where’s the popcorn at again?”
I shook my head as I pushed myself to my feet. I turned into the kitchen and looked at them, “You seriously forgotten where it was again.”
They both gave me a cheesy grin as they nodded their heads at me. I sighed again as I walked over toward the cabinet. Then the phone began to ring.
“Really?” I sighed as I pulled the box of popcorn out for Amber and Natalie. They thanked me and smiled as I handed it to them.
I picked up the phone and answered it, “Hello?”
“Victoria?”
I felt every muscle in my body grow tense. I knew that voice and there was only one person in the world who called me by my full name.
“Why are you calling?” I could hear the growl in my voice as I spoke.
“I wanted to see how you were doing.”
This made me madder, “Like you care.”
I looked up to see Amber walking over to me. She was giving me that look that asked if I was alright.
“You know I do care about you, Victoria.”
“Don’t call me that!” I yelled into the phone, “If you cared you wouldn’t still be a worthless drunk who didn’t care about anything but the new price for a case of beer! If you cared you would have straightened your act out instead of walking out. You are just a coward who doesn’t care about anyone but himself and you showed that loud and clear when you left me and mom!”
I could feel the tears forming in my eyes. He just made me so mad.
“That isn’t all true,” he tried to tell me, but I didn’t want to hear it.
I shook my head at his words. I was done with this conversation, “Goodbye.”
And just like that, I hung up the phone. I was just so aggravated at him. He had no right to call here. I was just too overwhelmed. I think that was why I turned and darted for my bedroom.
“Tori?” I heard someone call after me, but I ignored it.
I flew into my room and jumped onto my bed. I buried my face in my pillow as I let the tears slid down my face. I hated him. I hated him so much.
“Tori?” I heard from my door, but I didn’t move. I knew it was Amber and I knew she wouldn’t go away. I felt a weight on my bed as a hand rested on my shoulder.
“Tori, what is it?”
I shook my head in my pillow, “He called.”
“Oh Tori,” she spoke softly as she leaned over and hugged me that best she could. I turned and sat up so that I could hug her back. I squeezed her tightly as I let the tears go.
I saw Natalie and Cody at my doorway, before they walked over and hugged me too. I closed my eyes as I buried my face in Amber’s shoulder.
“We’re here for you, Tori.” I heard Cody whisper. I nodded my head.
“We all are,” I recognized the voice as Liam’s as I felt more people join the hug.
I just continued to nod my head as they all held me and let me cry.
“Thank you,” was the only words that I could manage to utter.

I saw Natalie and Cody at my doorway, before they walked over and hugged me too. I closed my eyes as I buried my face in Amber’s shoulder.
“We’re here for you, Tori.” I heard Cody whisper. I nodded my head.
“We all are,” I recognized the voice as Liam’s as I felt more people join the hug.
I just continued to nod my head as they all held me and let me cry.
“Thank you,” was the only words that I could manage to utter.
