Hey, I would like my story to get reviewed, so I can see where I might have any flaws in my writing, or just an overall "how good is this story", ya know? I am glad that others agree, and it wasn't just me who saw stories needing a little extra push to help them on their way.

Okay so, I'm really glad you've gone to the effort to post some helpful tips for people here. On behalf of everyone who's reading, thank you very much, and to all those who still need to read these ideas (which is a significant number), get your asses into gear :P


I would particularly like to emphasise a couple of points that were made:
- The first chapter is everything. I know I've been turned off by the first chapter of a story before, so I wholeheartedly agree with @bananabreeana there.
- Write your chapters in a word processing document and at the very least do a spell check before you post them. a) It'll help with spelling and typos, and b) you have an externally saved copy - we all know this website occasionally plays up and deletes chapters while you're writing them here. Writing them externally first avoids that problem!
- Don't tell, show. Please :)
- Plan the story! Honestly, have at least a basic idea of the main characters' personalities/flaws/habits/etc and a couple of important plot points/twists before starting.

Yes, I am aware that I haven't written a fanfiction anywhere so I have no right to go and be critical of other people's writing - but I'm going to give my two bobs worth anyway :P
I am also 22 and have done my fair share of English classes throughout high school. We oldies stick together *high-fives*
