story time and frustrations
RIGHT!?!? It seems the only stories anyone ever comments for are the really popular ones with tons of subscribers and votes just because the author won't update until a certain amount is commented. I'm not trying to call any of those authors out on it - everyone deserves to get feedback - but it'd be nice if less popular stories or new stories could get that feedback (even if it's just a little).
And - again, not tying to call any of then out - it's like no one will take the time to read newer stories unless there like you said or if it's written by a popular author. If people would just take the time to try a new story, they might just find something they like that doesn't involve things that their parents warned them about (sex, drugs,, etc.).
idk, but I totally understand where you're coming from here - unless I don't. Then none of this must make sense.
ps: sorry for any typos; I'm on my phone and autocorrect is not my friend.
@ThatRebelUnicorn
Autocorrect is friends with no one haha!
BUTTT YESSSS! YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! COMPLETELY!
I think it's a real shame, because again as I said before there are so many stories out there just starting that really have something going for them that get written off and then writers get discouraged and fall into a vicious awkward cycle of heavily critiquing their work and hating anything they produce/create and can benefit from.
I mean if you subscribe, just comment - it gives a writer the idea that you're slightly interested and like their work otherwise, why did you subscribe in the first place.
& on another note - if someone asks for feedback, I don't understand why people comment something along the lines of 'I LUV IT xx' ~ this is not feedback at all, it doesn't help me correct things as a writer, it doesn't help me mature and fix my mistakes/problems I'd otherwise be continuing if someone hadn't pointed them out. I deleted one story in particular which I believe I'd done mediocre with because there was no one who could tell me any ways which I could improve. Not to bring this back to me but the feeling sucks - especially when you're reading grammar rotting pieces, stories with no thought put into them and the same outline being recycled for every, single chapter.
:( I just.. ehh..
I don't know anymore.
I hate this, like no other. One thing that really bugs me is when you find a story where the summary sounds super interesting and you really want to read it, but it is terribly written and grammar sucks, but everyone reads it. Maye I should start talking like I'm an 8 year old girl texting her friends..
I wont lie, I did have a story that made it to the popular pages and I was happy, but it's hard to get anyone to read anything new I start. It seems like they don't give it the time of day because I don't have smut or anything like that.
Come on people, there are so many great stories that don't involve sex, drugs, everything like that. Give them a chance. And tell the author what you like and don't it helps
@MidnightMemory
You got it sista! I probably just sound like I'm whining for the hell of it but it'd be nice for things yo be said and done.
A million congratulations on getting a story to thr popular page! So proud of you *proud bird pose* but yeah, feedback, critiques and general consensus is what makes things work - not poor grammar and bad smut every chapter.
Ps: auto correct isn't my friend either when on phones.
pps: not that I can talk but I feel this site should have a proof reader

Click view all in the headings bar above each forum section and then once in a section the link for new post should appear on the right somewhere :)
@pippalove
Yeah. I read the first one, I didn't cuss in one of mine. And it is awesome! Only a few subscribers. I decided to test it, and write a really stupid story with cuss words, and I got a lot of followers! I mean, come on! I deleted it, because I'm not a cussing type person, but you are very right about how people are on here. Oh, and I wrote one about a girl just meeting them, five likes. Grrrrrrr.....#fjfdkfkrkoreko
i think its the fact that dark love, and sex just fucks with your emotions. So while you're reading it you get so attached, and anything that happens..especially if its dark...is literally gut-wrenching. It may be a good plot, amazing story, and great grammar...but theres no cliff hanger...no heartbreak...so many just move onto something that just sweeps them off their feet from the beginning. Also a lot of plots are predictable. Dark love is something that can happen often in reality. Meeting one direction at a concert, and them bringing backstage to have hot smut sex is so far fetched. For example my own stories (being the amateur that i am) I usually always have something heartbreaking in it, because i just love writing something that catches you by surprise, and keeps you hooked until the very end. Or at least i hope it does. Nice stories don't always finish last. :( and thats unfortunately the truth about a lot of readers on here.
@Erin_Elizabeth_Direction
I'm glad someone else understands! Seriously; and the frustrations ASDFGHJKL!!! and language and grammar; seriously - just end the world now if people can't use spell check and whole words. I totally understand that there's differences between American English and UK English and then of course, you have people who's first language isn't English and write amazingly when they translate and yada yada; I mean even some of the Spanish stories I've read are unbelievable - but cussing and not using spell check (oh and spelling things like love as luv) seriously freaking irk me.
@dontjockmystyles
I completely understand where you're coming from and I get the readers want for attachment and emotional satisfaction when they finish a chapter, trust me - I usually look for the same thing, I just feel that a lot of what's being written isn't as honest or truthful as it could be. There was a wonderful story someone wrote a few months back about a girl suffering from anxiety and researched how someone suffering from that would react and respond to things making it so realistic and catching it was amazing - I just think it's a shame that people are getting caught up in repetitive ideas and badly written sex scenes just because they think their 'good'. Not attacking anyone's writing, I mean; I'm my own worst critique and I think everyone can get better the more they work on things but, seriously...
Your writing def keeps me hooked until the end; but that's because it's so real. I want to read more like that. Correction; I NEED TO! It'd just be nice if dark was written as.. well; proper dark/forbidden love - not just smut and fake gangs everywhere.
yea it's true, a lot of stories are so unrealistic, and i think that girls should give other stories a chance. There are great stories i've subscribed too. They were beautifully written, and they're ghost authors. They don't know how great their work is, and i hate how some girls who have 500,000 views think they could be real writers.Compared to girls who actually have a chance. I wish people were more open minded about stories! -.-
@pippalove
Haha you are not whining for no reason. It doesn't come off that way at all :) I totally get it! Also, autocorrect is no one's friend... This site should have an autocorrect thing though! That would help a lot! That way stories are written in correct English and not like you are texting.
@MidnightMemory
-_- I just wrote something and autocorrect decided to red squiggly line the entire thing and then delete it on me. FML. *insert frustrated keyboard smash*; but I agree completely. I actually think that one day in the future - if we ever progress this far, that all humans should be installed with an auto-correct feature. Mhmmm, maybe too sci-fi....
@dontjockmystyles
Exactly what you're saying. I read sooo much and learn so much from what others have written, they way the describe, use phrases, speech, language barriers etc etc. More open minded people would mean a much more awesome world in general.. but ya know. You can't ask for everything haha.
@pippalove
Yeah I'm kind of over every story on the first page of the popular section being either incredibly dark or they're having sex every other chapter. Don't get me wrong they're good stories but...it's getting a little old. My main story Half a Heart (WHICH YOU SHOULD ALL READ) is a love story for the hopeless romantics out there. There's no sex (im not into writing that kind of thing) and it's basically about a boy and a girl who fall in love but have some bumps in the road along the way. So i feel yah girl. I FELL YAH
@JoseyWhite
I agree with you, i know i have a book full of one shots, but i don't really update. Alice writes those. Like my kind of stories are Mystery, horror, and suspense. You don't really see those kind of stories. But if you want to read that kind of stuff(my main story The Hit List), Just tell me, do you see any stories that are mainly about having sex, that's all you see on this website. I try to write something different, like what I said. This site is full of dirty minded people, wait me too but not that much. All teens care about is sex, no offense to people but just saying.
@JoseyWhite
AMEN FOR THE FEELS!
@SarahAndAliceTwinSisters
And yeah it's a sad reality. Teens and well just everyone in general should be thinking about having fun and making the most of their lives - not sex.
You know what kills me (and must with every other writer on here) when a load of people subscribe to a story and you get no feed back, votes or just general ideas of how things are going.
Anyone mind telling me what people like reading? It also seems as if a story doesn't have a dark plot or sex in every chapter no one cares about it. I read through so many a day with amazing plot lines, well written and thought out characters and phenomenal twists and no one seems to give them the time of day.
Anyone else notice this?
Grrr and grammar - let's end here before I sky rocket.
ps: I want to punch my boss. so just annoyed in general... ASDFGHKKL!!!!
