I'm sorry, America
@blankspace1
Lovely support there Olivia ♡
I personally hope that everyone in America will be safe and treated with equal rights - I know we fear Trump and what he stands for. But this man is not invincible, such acts that he will want to perform will need more authorisation, whatever decision he tends to make, we in the UK will always end up backing the States. So it fears us a little too. I don't think America had an easy vote though, Trump is madness but there's something scary and mysterious about Clinton - I fear they all say what we want to hear, except for Trump of course. I am not saying Trump is good to be in charge - No way! But it's the next step now. Either way, Trump has won and it's frightening to hear that some people are scared for their country and for what lies ahead. Don't get me wrong, I am in shock at this breaking news that is currently top news over here, he is a deluded old man.
But I have so much belief in America - You're strong minded people with such beautiful big hearts - I adore the Americans way of life. Their attitude, their happiness - don't let this kill that inside of you. ♡
I believe you're all stronger than one man, he wants the fuss, he loves the media - that's why he chats so much shit. Keeping strong is hard but you have the world standing right beside you, especially us in the UK.
Whatever shit he says or tries to do will have a massive impact on us all, but I'm so sorry for all you who are feeling worried and upset - if I could take it all away from you I would, Including Trump..
xx
@xRock_Mex
I know Hillary isn't completely trustworthy and perfect but no-one is perfect. Much of the stuff that Trump has promised to do must be approved and I really hope it doesn't.
As you have said, Chelsea, Americans are strong-minded and tough. We can all get through this and be strong in this new era of his presidency. Australia, my home, won't be affected a lot but the States is our biggest trade in terms of defence. Their government is big and influential and this man will be at its helm. That just terrifies me and I don't even live in America.
He's not invincible, I agree, and I am already sick of hearing his voice. I hope this big and bright country doesn't fall down the gurgler and we can all stay our strong selves in today's time xx
@blankspace1
Yes, he's frustrating and has terrified his own people already. I just pray that they get an easy life without any of his shit scattered around. No of course we are not perfect, I personaly wished they had better options to vote with. This has been awful and I strongly believe America is full of beautiful hearts, my family live there as you know, they are some of the strongest people I know. I have America in my heart.
God Bless America ♡
@blankspace1
Honestly, as a republican, I'm proud to say I voted for Trump. It's not really him that I voted for though, it's his cabinet. The guy I wish WAS our president (Dr. Ben Carson) is possibly going to be our Surgeon General. Rudy's being looked at as Attorney General (whcih means people WILL BE going to jail and THAT means they're targetting Hillary). Plus, the republican party is going to be picking a few of the supreme judges in the next four years.
I don't like Trump but I like the people he's looking at to surround himself with. Pence IS president material so he's a pretty good vice. And honestly, I'm more scared of Clinton than I am Trump. With the Clinton Body Count Conspiracy and the email fiasco, I would've felt so much more unsafe. At least Trump wants to build a (very unrealistic) wall and make us boarder line isolationists for a while and maybe that's what we need? We need a time out and time away from shoving our noses where they don't belong? (Cos ya know, that's kind of why we're in so much shit all the time)
And sidenote, this means Obummercare is going to come to an end, something I've been desperately looking forward to because A- passing it violated the Freedom of Information Act and B- it WAS NOT "free". My liberal friends who benefitted from it didn't seem to understand that THEY got free health care while III was the one paying for it. It's not free if someone else is being used to fund it.
@Where is Call_Me_Godot?
I don't know a lot about the politicians in America but I kept my eye on the presidential race. As I stated before, I know Hillary isn't perfect and not very trustworthy and I understand that the choices of candidates in this election weren't that bright. It is Trump's words and polices that I despise. I don't think I could live in a place where every single action I do is based because I am a female. If I was a gay white female living in America right now, I would leave the country because I wouldn't have the rights that I should have. Personally, and this is my own opinion, I believe the wall thing is a bunch of bull. How can people approve of that? I just don't follow his mindset in making America "great" again. He wants the Muslims and the Hispanics and the Latinos out of the country but Florida is one of the biggest places that Latinos reside in and he won that state? I find that baffling. Whatever happens, I just don't want him to ruin the country. America has a bright future ahead but with Trump, I just don't know xx
@blankspace1
Alright so we have this thing called the primaries :) it's like, all the peeps get together and vote for the person they want to be candidate. And the first time I voted with the republican (conservative) ballot, I checked off Dr. Ben Carson because the guy's a brain surgeon so really, how dumb can he be? And I genuinely thought the democrats (liberals) were going to pick Bernie Sanders so the presidential race would be Sanders and whoever us republicans picked. Once I woke up and saw Hillary and Trump were picked, I pretty much knew "yeah, we're about to go down the shitter." So trust me, a lot of us really didn't want Trump but we decided on the devil we don't know vs the one we DO.
I strongly, strongly, STRONGLY doubt that the wall thing will actually happen. On the unlikely chance it does, the wall would also be built on our northern border too (separating us from Canada much to their likely joy lol) so it's not strictly racist.
And the thing about our Hispanic folks is that they're all stereotyped as being illegal (I actually used to party with a lot of really nice, legal Hispanic immigrants and my best lesbian friend in high school was a first generation Quebec-American). Well, America was built on immigration, so why not let them in right? A lot of people who come in illegally aren't paying our taxes yet they're sending our money to their family at home, thus making our economy run dry so that's kind of a problem. And with 9/11 and the recent outbreak of bombings and shit everywhere (can we please just start hating each other from afar instead of killing each other? Please?), us Americans are hyper-freaking-paranoid. Now I've known a lot of really sweet Islamic people but unfortunately, they're getting slumped into the Radical Terrorist Group. Deporting everyone or keeping them is one of those hot button issues we like to talk about (like gay marriage or legallizing pot) but it's not like we're going to be able to deport everyone and they won't come back. It's just not going to happen.
The reason why Trump was able to win a state like Florida is because the average Joe, the middle class working people, came out to remind everyone that we're still here too and we still have opinions. And Hillary was only getting like the really big and typically more liberal cities in Florida (most of the state map was red with Trump votes) where there's going to be more diversity per pop. Small town areas like the places I live tend to be more conservative than the really big cities. And Florida has more than just Miami amd Orlando :P
I can understand the concern but everyone (and I mean EVERYONE from all over the globe including America) has a tendency to either forget or just not know that the president doesn't actually have as much power as we like to think he does. He has to go through the same approval hoops that our House and Senate do. Obama wasn't able to get much done this term because the republicans were starting to take control of both and were denying him his proposals. So the likelihood of him getting this wall up (which a business man like him should know isn't going to be free and isn't somethi g I really wa t to pay for) is pretty slim. And everything else he wants to do will also take a lot of aproving from Congress.
Time can only tell though. Either he turns out fine and was just playing a game to get attention for votes or he becomes a serious schmuck, the world hates us still, we let the democrats have control again, and maybe WWIII happens. I still don't know.
@Where is Call_Me_Godot?
I gotta admit, I was surprised when Trump and Hillary were picked too. Could there have been better candidates?
All the Muslims get lobbed into one group which I find completely disheartening. They're not all the same, it's just the damn radicals. The deporting isn't just going to happen overnight. You can't just chuck these people out so quickly, that won't happen.
Oh, well, this is what America voted for and they've got to stick with it. The problem is not everyone votes then people get pissed because they didn't want Trump to win. Then why didn't you fucking vote? You had a chance to have a voice and you threw it away. I hate those people.
I know he doesn't move in until January 20th so that's just a little over 2 months. A lot can happen in a period of that time. I was looking forward to visiting America next year but with him in office, I'm really not sure if I want to come. I'm having second thoughts xx
Thanks for the support, Olivia. I'm very conflicted about everything and maybe it's the lack of sleep, but I'm very sensitive right now. I'm not saying that all would be OK if Hillary won, but ultimately I feel she was the lesser of two evils. As a woman and part of a minority, I feel unwanted and targeted in the country right now. Maybe because it's all so fresh but I'm sad to know who our next president will be and what he really thinks of people who aren't straight white males.
Sometimes it's hard to understand by others why Trump not being president was very important to minorities. Unless you've suffered discrimination for the way you look, it's not something easy to relate to. I feel that Trump being president will empower discrimination even more. Hey if the president does it, it's ok right? :(
@blankspace1
That's exactly why I've been urging family and friends to vote. Anyone who didn't vote has no right to complain today. At some point Trump was winning by less than 100 votes. That's something that could have been changed had everyone voted. Don't even get me started on the fucking turds who wrote in their votes and chose HARAMBE or Harry Styles. What a fucking embarrassing time for the US.
@MelissaStylesInStyle
It's almost 2AM here and I feel like I need to go to sleep. Part of me is wishing that tomorrow I will wake up and this will all be a dream but I know this is real and it saddens me. My mother said Hillary was the lesser of 2 evils and I agree with that. I agree with you in that sense. Now that Trump will move into office, I am afraid for all you women in America. You are in my heart and I will stand by you for as long as possible.
He's racist about a lot of ethnic/race groups and that's one of the reasons why I don't support him. Everyone has a right and everyone is important in this world. He will make discrimination worse and it will intensify. It's not OK, even if the goddamn president does it :( That's the sad thing xx
@MelissaStylesInStyle
If people wanted to make a change and have a voice, then they should've fucking voted. I did see that he was behind and that was the time if people wanted Hillary to come through with victory... that was their time. But it's gone now. People who put either of those two names down obviously weren't serious about it. This is NOT a motherfucking joke! xx
@blankspace1
I'm afraid, too, Olivia. I really am. There's nothing that can be done now but move forward. It's going to be a long 4 years or maybe he'll get impeached sooner.
Apparently Harambe got 15k+ write in votes. I don't know the truth about it but if it's really thay high of a number then I'm even more embarrassed. A dead gorilla.
@blankspace1
@MelissaStylesInStyle
I love you both; I was always told if you don't vote, you have no room to complain. You could've made a difference by voting for the person you wanted, but you obviously didn't so why are you whining now? (Exclusions are obviously people who CAN'T vote like the under 18's and whatnot)
And while it's really stupid to write in smart ass jokes like Harambe or Mickey Mouse, I was at first debating on writing in "whoever's not a fucking joke like these two". Actually, if I remember right Mickey Mouse has had enough votes that he COULD run for president? O.o and really, Mickey knows how to run a monopoly so who better to vote for with the hopes that they'll fix our economy? :D
And like I said, I genuinely thought at first the top two were going to be Bernie and whoever-the-republicans-picked (again, I picked Ben Carson during that round). There WERE better options in the beginning so I don't really know why we let those two get as far as they did.
@blankspace1
I'm actually nervously optimistic now. Like Godot I'm actually in the minority of young women and a staunch republican. (mostly because our last president has run our country into the ground) I know a lot of people that don't like Trump but while everyone puts a huge majority of emphasis on who's president things still have to pass through congress. (The republicans do hold both houses but I don't think I can name a single representative or senator who is as intense as Trump sometimes gets)
I think the general attacks that people are giving for Trump supporters are the reasons that the exit polls are so wrong. Just because someone supports a canidate doesn't mean that they hate everybody. (I actually voted as I did because I would NEVER EVER IN A MILLION YEARS vote for Hillary) but that doesn't mean that I or Trump hate everyone like we get pushed into.
It's just kind of a messy process and it's kind of sad how it's been tearing apart friendships because people are getting called haters and saying that we have to apologize for our 'radical, hater, bigot views'. :/
I've taken a nap, drank coffee, ate something, and now I'm feeling better. I actually went into a laughing fit earlier. Trump will be our president. Lmao Hard to believe but it is what it is. I'm trying hard to look at the positives. If all hell breaks loose in the U.S we can just go live with my in laws. Lol
How to begin?
What has the world come to? Today, I kept tabs on the election polls and the race to occupy the White House. As soon as Trump came ahead to 264 votes, I wanted to throw up. I couldn't believe the backing this monster had and it sickens me to the bone. I was on this site, talking to one of my closest friends who lives in America, trying to calm her down as it looked like Trump was going to win. We were praying for Hillary to catch up but my hope was lost when he crossed that 270 mark.
I remember that a year ago, the idea of a Trump presidency was just a joke. And now look. He's the fucking President of the United States of America. How is this man - this racist, sexist, disgusting man - the leader of that country? How did Americans go from Obama to Trump? I do not understand. My heart breaks for everyone who resides there. All the women, the Muslims, the LGBT+ community, I pray for all of you. If you are having suicidal thoughts, please talk to someone and seek help. Killing yourself won't help anyone. We need you. I myself am not American but we all need to stand together and fight for what is right. Let's make Trump's presidency a living hell.
To my friends that live in the States, please stay safe. If you ever want to talk about anything, I am always around. I like to think I am a nice person, very loving - ask @XKALEIGHSTYLES57X or @morrison_hotel or @xRock_Mex or @MelissaStylesInStyle - and I am always down for a chat. Just remain safe and keep calm.
All the love, Olivia xx
