notifications!

Is anyone else having trouble with their notifications? I haven't gotten any in the last 48 hours but I keep seeing comments replied to me in the forums and in stories and it's super hard to keep up with everyone and not have anyone (I assume) think I'm a bitch for not replying to them.

Before this mibba update I was getting notified for everything :(

Just wondering if anyone is experiencing the same thing?

@teddymae
The same thing happens to me occasionally. I'll get on here and see that someone has commented on one of my stories but I won't get the notification. Idk why that happens. This websites screwy sometimes.

@One Direction 1O1
I'm glad I'm not the only one then. It's frustrating!

@teddymae
I know exactly what ya mean. The creators of this website really need to make a few changes and tweak it some.

@One Direction 1O1
Agreed! I remember months ago they had a button option for imagines which was up yet unusable for about 3 days and then magically disappeared. I can't see this site being moderated or updated frequently though but its a shame.

@teddymae
It's gone down from before. Maybe someone needs to create a new fan fiction website that has more option. Like they should have a tab for upcoming stories and stories that are growing. I mean, it's great if you get a story on the popular page, but there shouldn't just be a tab labeled popular page. Which I feel like leaves out stories that are amazing but don't get enough or any recognition. But that's a whole different topic lol. And they should bring back the imagines tab. And they could even have a short story tab. There's so much more they could do with this site.

@One Direction 1O1
Agreed 100%
It seems as well that 'popular stories' that don't get updated whatsoever constantly remain on the first few pages consistently not giving anyone else a chance to push their way into there. I love your idea of an upcoming stories tab. There are as you've said, so many stories and writers who don't get nearly enough recognition for the work they produce.

If I knew how to host a website I would totally start my own. Alas, I fail when it comes to anything techy :(

@teddymae
Same. I have no clue how to create my very own website, or I would. Make one for writes to get experience with writing and get to post their stories. For others to read their stories and stuff. And I know exactly what you mean. Very old stories that don't get updated stay on the popular page. That makes no sense at all. Truthfully I have no clue how the popular page works. Some stories get on there because they have tons of votes. Others don't have tons of votes and still get on there. Same goes for subscribers. Sometimes people's stories get on there by having loads of views. Idk honestly how to get on there. Like, what if the creators choose the stories that get to be on there? It's strange how the popular page works. I also find it odd how someone will post a brand new story and in the next 24 hours will have hundreds of votes and tons of subscribers. Is that even possible lol? How would that many people see your story and vote and subscribe when you just posted it? I've been writing for a while on here and am trying to get one story that will go somewhere, ya know? I enjoy writing so much and want to become an author. It's just upsetting to see all the effort some people put in their stories verses someone who doesn't put effort into their stories and boom, their stories are huge on here, or any other fan fiction website. This also goes for Wattpad, too; I see the same thing happen.

@One Direction 1O1
You hit the nail right on the head. It's almost as if everything posted has to endure some kind of sick routined popularity contest stunt before being thrown out of the wringer. I could start complaining but I won't. Who knows how long that could go on for.

Ugh! So glad someone else feels the way I do as well. Writers with intent and want to better themselves seem to get nothing. Writers with a fanbase due to pure... i don't even know what the hell you'd call it apart from 'not talent' seem to have the world (site) at their feet.

@teddymae
I totally agree! I guess some people just wanna read unoriginal stories that are poorly written. Like I have two upcoming stories that I'll be posting on here and a few other fan fiction websites. Ones called Paper Airplanes, and the other is untitled because it won't be worked on until this summer; it'll take a lot of time for me to plan it. What type of stories do you like to write?

@One Direction 1O1
I go backwards and forwards with my style of writing. I prefer to work on slightly dramatic and older content based stories but no one around here seems to read any of that so I usually feel a little negative before I even post anything. The stories I currently have up now are nothing I feel happy about. I'm constantly in a state of confusion when it comes to the ideas I have :(

Before all this I had another account on here where I wrote a story called Unholy Matrimony which was about a girl and Harry who were forced to live together due to their parents becoming engaged and how they were working together to try and end the relationship whilst cliche-ly falling into their own. It did alright due to how super naive it was but I'd rather write something that fufills me than nonsense which gets votes if that makes any sense??

@teddymae
I'd be interested in reading older content stories. I enjoy reading stories like that. I write a lot of thrillers and stories with dark plots. I'm not the best at writing romance novels, but I do try. I also like to write mysteries and action novels. That's my style of writing. But when it comes to reading, I'm open to reading just about any genre that has an intriguing plot. I also like to read paranormal stories, but no one on here has really wrote a good paranormal story. Science fiction is also a genre I'll read.

@One Direction 1O1
OH A PARANORMAL STORY WOULD BE FREAKING INSANE IF DONE CORRECTLY! Holy hell I'm getting excited just thinking about it now.

Dark and thriller style stories are my cup of tea. I enjoy everything that you've written. I still can't get over Human Monster - I think it's incredible.

The one thing I've noticed about more mature plot lines is though that most people won't read them without romance scripted in and unfortunately for a lot of people out there romance isn't necessarily something that evolves from 'mature content'.

@teddymae
Thank you!! I'm glad you enjoyed Human Monster! And I totally agree. Some people won't read stories if they don't have some type of romance in them. But I think not every story needs romance. I've read amazing stories that don't have romance in them. And my upcoming story Paper Airplanes has bits of paranormal activity in it. What I'm doing is writing the entire book out before I post it. I think that's how I wanna start writing from now on. And like maybe post two or three chapters every week or something like that. I think it'll be easier on my part to just write the entire book out and go back and fix every single mistake and tweak chapters if needed.

@One Direction 1O1
That sounds like a fab idea! I wish I had that ability but I get a little into the moment and post things and then regret them. I can't wait to see what you produce, if it's anything like what you've previously written then I'm sure no one will be disappointed.

I wish I had the ability to translate what ideas I had going on inside my head into words. I seem to struggle which is my own fault :( Mhm.. back to the drawing board I guess.

@teddymae
Thanks. I hope it does well on the website and other websites. That'd be awesome! I've put a lot of work into this idea so hopefully it pays off. What I love to do before I begin planning a story is talk to my close friends about it and my sister. They're really supportive. And they also help me and incorporate their own ideas sometimes. My good friend, David, has helped me a lot with Paper Airplanes. We've been planning the story together for a while, and he also writes but on Wattpad. But if you want, I'm always willing to hear others story ideas anytime. Feel free to share with me. Maybe I could even help you process your ideas into a story.

@One Direction 1O1
That would be insane! Thank you so much for the offer!
I usually try to come up with a small plot which becomes more or less my story summary and then base things around that. Every now and again I get a single line idea which I have to in one way or another incorporate into what I'm doing.

I'll give you an example; for the last hour I've been staring at this. It's nothing complete or set - just a rough idea.

"Tell me something beautiful", she asked with a smile as warm as burnt toast on a winter morning. Her eyes were singing the battle cries of bruised birds and her lips although still faintly painted a blush pink from the night before spoke elegantly as she'd always done. Rolling over to prop myself up at her side, my fingers worked through her messy, untamed blonde hair as a breath escaped me, tired of being locked up inside.

"Emily", I whispered.

The room remained quiet before I came to realize the name I whispered wasn't hers.

It sucks... but I can't let go. Ughhh.. frustrating.

@teddymae
No, it doesn't suck at all! Wow, just by reading that made me want to read more. The details and description of everything was nicely put together. I'm intrigued. This could definitely go somewhere.

@One Direction 1O1
Thank you for the kind words. I really appreciate them immensely.
