Butterflies of Fire
Prologue
Hello, let me introduce myself. My name is Regan Shae Tierney . I am 16 years old and live with my adoptive brother Keegan and my adoptive parents Antonoio and Leah Tierney.
Let’s take a step back, so I can explain my fucked-up situation. The name given to me at birth was Izabella Gabrielle Santos. When I was four years old my parents and I were in a serious head on collision, killing both of my parents on impact. A man by the name of Todd Yeardly had been drinking all night and then decided to drive home; we were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Mr. Yeardly swerved to miss hitting a deer and cut across three lanes of traffic ultimately hitting our car and making us roll 5 times until we ended up in the ravine.
I was in the back buckled into the safety seat of our car. I only suffered minor injuries while my mother suffered blunt force trauma to the head and my dad was ejected through the windshield, both dying on impact.
I had no surviving relatives or any that we spoke to anyways. My grandparents died before I was born, and my father had no contact with his parents, so I was put into child protective services system in Northern Idaho.
I was in the foster care system for three months before a married couple flew over from Lake Tahoe, California with their six-year old son, they visited me on regular basis for two weeks before signing papers to adopt me.
Upon receiving my birth certificate, My new family decided to change my name, hence Regan Shae Tierney. You see my dad was originally from Barcelona, Spain and my mom was from Baja California.
Since the day I was adopted, I've lived my whole life in Lake Tahoe, California with my new family. Keegan and I became super close he was and still is my protector, even though I don’t need much protecting now a days. Keegan and I go to the same school now and hang out with all the same people.
My best friend is Brynlee, she's my age, very loud, and very outspoken. She thinks she is so in love with my brother and that they are soulmates, disgusting if you ask me. Keegan happens to be Brycen’s' best friend and Brycen is Brynlee’s brother.
Then there is this kid called Niall who moved here as a foreign exchange student from Ireland last year, so we've known each other for over a year now. He is totally clueless to the fact that I have the biggest crush ever on him and neither does anyone else, so I hope it stays that way.
