It’s Coraline actually, not Caroline

CORALINE POV
“Who’s taken my gym shoes?” I yelled from my changing cubicle.

I’m not sure how I feel about this Harry boy. The fact that he just waltzed up to our table and the girls instantly fell for his charming smile and accent. Ugh. Seriously? How predictable can they get?

“Jokes they were in the bottom of my bag!” I yelled again, waving them up in the air.

I mean you can’t deny he has a charm, I’m just going to be cautious until I totally know what Mya and I are dealing with.

I finished getting dressed, stepping out and placing my bag on the rack. I leaned against the wall, arms crossed, my attention on Roxy who had been staring at her phone since I started getting ready. I clicked my fingers in front of her face a few times which made her snap out of her trance with a jump and a small pout. She had taken a picture of Harry when Mya showed us his application.

“Why does Mya get to go home with a hot British boy while we get stuck in double P.E?” She grumbled, tossing her bag as the teacher called us out.

“Consider yourself lucky, Roxy. Honestly, would you want to take care of a guy like that for six months? SIX MONTHS GIRL.” I asked seriously.

“If he looked anything like Harry, then I would gladly take care of him for six months.” Roxy smirked as we non-enthusiastically walked towards the grass field.

“Agreed!” Millie said jumping into the conversation from behind us.

The P.E teacher interrupted our conversation, “Ok girls, today we are going to learn some ball skills!” About twenty girls groaned in response.

“That’s what she said..” Millie laughed.

“Kill me now.” I mumbled, squinting from the sun.

“Do you think he has big feet? I’ve seen his hands, they’re pretty big...” Millie thought out loud as we waited for the teacher to grab the balls.

“Millie! Oh my god, can you get your head out of the gutter for just five minutes?” I nudged her in shock.

“What?” She frowned, “I’m just curious?” She smirked as teacher finally came back with the equipment, “I wonder if his friends are just as cute?”

“I don’t think we should be focusing on boys right now” Anna added as ran up to us, late to this class for god knows what reason.

“Thank you!” I yelled a bit too loud.

“Liz from drama saw him talking to a guy this morning, apparently his name is Leon or Lewis, something like that. Apparently, he has quite a nice behind according to her.” Anna chipped in, stretching.

Roxy winked at Millie, “Guys.” I replied looking grossed out.

“Coraline!” I heard the teacher yell at my direction, throwing the ball and me missing it completely, “Grab the ball!” She huffed.

“Oh look there goes the ball,” I watched it roll away “and all the fucks I give about P.E.” I sighed, earning a laugh out of my friends.

“Bloody hell! Was that just me or did that lesson go for longer than it should have?” I sighed tiredly, “Because I swear I was ready to jump over the school fence to get out of here.” I blurted out as we all walked out of the change rooms, dressed back into our normal school clothes.

“P.E always goes slowly unfortunately.” Anna sighed rubbing her temples, already grabbing her study notes out.

“Maybe it was because Mya wasn’t here to crack jokes?” Millie suggested shrugging her shoulders, kicking a small rock as we walked.

“Well whatever it was, I don’t want it to happen again, I don’t think I can take another lesson like that.” Roxy said dumping her arms around Mille’s neck, “Carry meee!”

“Roxy get off!” Millie laughed, struggling to lose her.

“Come on Roxy, no time for mucking around, you know we have to go to Mya’s to finish off that religion assignment.” I said grabbing her arm and pulling her forward.

“But I’m tired!” She whined, frowning at me.

“But I don’t care! Anyways, Harry’s going to be there?” I said into her ear.

The change in her composure was laughable. She straighten up, fixed her hair and somehow her eyes seemed more awake than they were before, “Well come on then, what are we waiting for? We have an assignment to finish!” Roxy said pulling my arm along with her while the rest of us laughed.

“Well that is a first, Roxy eager to do an assignment.” Anna giggled in shock.

“Good luck Coraline.” Millie and Anna yelled out together as I continued to get dragged up the stairs and further and further away from the oval.

As we got closer to the front gates of the school, I realised that the two of us had other places to be before we left for Mya’s. Shit.

“Where are you going?” Roxy exclaimed when she finally noticed I was walking back towards the main building.

“I have an SRC meeting in the library and you have costume rehearsal for your drama performance, remember?” I had to shout at her. The bell had rung, so naturally there was heaps of people everywhere. Roxy and I walked through the massive crowd of people to get to our separate commitments.

...

“Now Roxy,” I turned to her, grabbing both of her shoulders, “I really don’t care if he looks like a ‘sex god’ - contain yourself, understood? Keep it g-rated?” I warned her, raising an eyebrow.

“Whatever, I can still stare.” She smirked and compromised with me.

“I tired.” I told myself calmly, as I began knocking on the door, waiting for her to answer.

“Hiya girlies!” Mya smiled, “Come on in.” She urged us.

We both set our bags by the door, grabbing some books and our laptops out. We walked down the hallway until we reached the kitchen which had Mrs Walters serving pasta, Harry sitting on an island stool.

“Hi Harry.” Roxy sweetly smiled at him, setting down her laptop on the bench.

“Hey! Roxy right?” He questioned, getting up and hugging her.

“Harry.” I looked, holding my books against my chest.

“Nice to see you too Caroline.” He smiled, stepping away from Roxy.

“It’s Coraline actually, not Caroline.” I pointed out, slightly annoyed.

“Oh sorry, easy mistake.” He shrugged.

“So...” Roxy stepped in front of me, sensing the tension.

“Anyways,” I looked away from him, “Hi Libby!” I smiled as I approached Mya’s mum.

“Hi honey!” She placed a bowl down and hugged me, “How you going?”

“Great! Just got this assessment to do.” I sighed.

“Have you girls eaten? Do you want to stay for dinner?” Libby offered, still holding me in a side hug.

“We don’t want to intrude-” Roxy replied, not wanting to make a fuss.

“Nonsense, you girls are always welcome.” Libby smiled happily, grabbing more bowls out of the cupboard.

“Fab!” Roxy smiled towards Harry.

“Thank god! I was afraid I would have to talk to Harry for the rest of the night.” Mya let out sarcastically, leaning against the island, earning a stern look from Libby.

“Oh Libby,” Harry started, causing Libby’s attention towards him, “Er well Miss Cole suggested because all five of the exchange students came from different places around the UK, that we should all get to know each other better before our first day. So I hope it’s okay, I invited them over here tonight.” Asking innocently.

“You have got to be shitting me.” Mya groaned.

“Mya! Language-” Libby frowned, “It’s ok, lucky I made lots of pasta, may I ask how many are coming over?”

“Just four?” He stated.

“Okay, that should be fine!” Libby smiled.

“I’m not too sure about this girl.” I whispered to Mya. One guy was enough, but four more?

“Me either.” She whispered back.

HARRY POV
It was only ten minutes until the boys came by. I had invited all of the lads, over Liam, Niall, Zayn and Louis. I had spoken to them today before we met our ‘foster home’ students. We still need to keep up the act like we don’t know each other before today, which may be harder than I thought. These guys are the closest thing to home at the moment.

*knock knock*

“I’ll get it” Mya and I both said, immediately looking at each other.

I stood up from the stool and headed towards the door.

“Hey Styles, this isn’t your house!” I heard her call after me.

“Why don’t you both get the door?” Libby exhaled, “You’re actually like six year olds.” She laughed

We both ran for the door, like it was a mini competition. But we were also both wearing socks, which was a dangerous element to this race. It didn’t help that the timber floors looked like they had just been polished a day or two ago. I was nearly at the door when I slid too far and fell to the ground. Laughing I managed to grab the end of Mya’s joggers and made her fall too - which caused a smile to surface on her face. Was Mya actually enjoying my company?

“Ouch!” She half whined and laughed, “You jerk.”

The door knocked another three times, this time Coraline successfully answering it, probably sick of the noise.

“Well well well, what do we have here?” I heard Louis say, looking past Coraline, down on Mya and I.

“Um, hi to you too,” Coraline stared at them, probably annoyed they didn’t really notice she was standing there, “come on in,” she moved away from the door, “not like I have a choice.”

Mya and I finally got up, “they are all yours Styles.” She patted my back, walking back with Coraline.

“Hey guys.” I approached them, giving them all hugs, “we can just chill in the lounge room.” I smiled.

“Easy.” Liam smiled back.

I could tell the boys were amazed at how nice Mya’s home was, the constant stopping by the paintings and random bits of home decor confirmed this. Libby came to see what was taking so long, meeting the lads in the process. She was welcoming and friendly, something that the boys has missed since being away from home.

We continued into the lounge room to find Mya, Roxy and Coraline watching the telly, “I this part of your assignment?” I asked.

“We are taking a break, okay?” Coraline turned her head from the telly, “So are you guys just gonna stand there or...?”

“Just enjoying the view love.” I Louis reply from next to me.

“And what a gorgeous view it is.” Niall added, smirking at Louis.

“Guys, calm down.” I told them with a laugh, “Let them be.”

“No Harry, I insist!” Mya replied, the girls turning around, “aren't you gonna introduce us to your “friends.” She asked, her head leaning on the top part of the couch.

“Fine, this is Zayn, Liam, Louis and Niall.” I pointed to each one of them.

“Hey Niall.” Roxy waved slightly.

“Hey love.” Niall smiled back, Roxy blushing.

“So let me get this right,” Coraline asked, “Harry Edward Styles” she pointed to me, “Zayn Javadd Malik, Liam James Payne, Louis William Tomlinson and Niall James Horan?” She continued to point at each boy, finally smirking, proud of herself.

Mya looked shocked but laughed, whereas Roxy dropped her head into her hands, embarrassed at her friends clear stalking abilities.

I myself was shocked.

“How did you-” Liam asked confused.

“Let just say I had a sneak peek of your profiles while I had office duty this morning.” Coraline smirked.

“Isn’t that illegal or something?” Louis questioned.

“Probably invasion of privacy,” Mya laughed, “But one hundred percent hella sneaky.”

“What did you do Harry?” Liam asked me.

“Huh?!” I asked confused, looking at him “I did nothing.”

“Well you must of done something to piss them off.” Liam laughed slightly.

“How much of the files did you read?” Zayn broke off Liam’s conversation, looking at us lads intensely.

That when I clicked on to what Zayn was alluding to. What if they saw the real reason why we were here? Shit.

“Relax-” Coraline reassured us, “I only really saw the front pages. I was making sure my girl wasn’t stuck with complete losers.” She side hugged Mya.

Thank god.

“Garlic bread is finally cooked everyone!” We heard Libby yell, “Everyone grab your bowls of pasta!”

“Looks like dinner is ready,” Mya and the girls got up, “What a shame, was starting to enjoy this conversation.”

I shook my head with a slight smile on my face.

We all grabbed our bowIs and headed for the massive chestnut dining table, decorated with white candles in the middle. I laughed as Roxy practically ran to get a seat next to Niall. I was last in so that left me in a spot next to Mya. After everyone was settled and digging into their pasta, the awkward silence settled itself around the table like a thick haze. Everyone was avoiding eye contact with each other.

Louis coughed and started to speak “So, uh Mya, you seem to have forgotten to introduce your lovely friends to us.”

“Well boys if you must know, this is Coraline,” She said pointing her fork at her who kept her face blank, “and that is Roxanne, but she also goes by Roxy.” She said as Roxy looked up from her food and smiled at all of us.

Again an awkward silence hit the nine of us, but it was Libby to break it this time. She cleared her throat and turned towards Roxy, “So Roxy, Mya told me you had rehearsal this afternoon? How is it going then?” Everyone looked at Roxy who ducked her head under all the gazes but I could see her relax slightly.

“It is going really good actually, but my teacher is always on my case about something or other.” She said rolling her eyes.

“Rehearsal? You sing?” Zayn asked from next to me.

“Kind of, but I’m more of an acting than dancing or singing gal, but I dabble,” she said quietly, “these two can sing quite well actually.” She said gesturing Mya and Coraline.

My eyebrows raised and by the looks of the other lads, they were slightly shocked too - that was kinda unexpected. Both of them glared at Roxy but she just winked in return. Cheeky.

“Wow didn’t take you two as the singing type.” I said looking at the two.

“Oh Mya, haven’t you told Harry about ‘FUSE’ yet?” Libby said putting her fork in her now empty bowl.

Niall furrowed, “Er what is ‘FUSE’?”

All three girls stayed silent, then Coraline sighed and muttered “Can I be excused? Like immediately”

“No way.” Louis smirked.

“FUSE is a girl group, if you will, that Mya, Coraline and I - plus two other girls in our group came up with. We do mostly youtube videos, sometimes local gigs just for fun.” Roxy admitted to us.

Throughout the explanation my eyes had widened, I really didn’t expect that from the girls, but I guess can’t judge a book by its cover. Ironic huh? Considering our situation?

“That’s actually kind of cool! Mind giving us a demo ladies?” Liam said with a smile looking at the three of them.

Roxy laughed, then realised he was serious, “Not a chance.” She said shaking her head firmly.

“Nup. Not going to happen!” Coraline and Mya said in unison.

“Oh come on girls, it’ll be fun!” Libby said smiling at the three.

“Yeah come on girls!” I smirked as Mya turned to glare at me.

“Well, thanks for dinner mum, it was great, but we really need to be getting back to our assignment. If you need us we’ll be up in the loft.” Mya said standing up, picking up her bowl and leaning over and kissing her mum on the check.

“Yeah thanks Libby, it was really nice.” Roxy said as both she and Coraline stood up, picking up their bowls too and taking them to the kitchen sink.

Libby left us as well, leaving us to hang out and talk.

“Ay but, as sassy as they are, I think those girls are starting to grow on me.” Liam smiled.

“That’s what I’m worried about.” I admitted back.
