The Donation
Chapter One
Penelope’s. P.O.V.
________________
I felt eccentric.
I slowly walked out of the operation room and went to the main desk.
“Dr. Smith said I could get my… donor’s information here?”
“Ah yes, give me a minute.”
“Penelope, right?”
“Yes ma’am.”
She tapped around her keyboard and ripped out a small slip of paper. She started to jot down his information.
“Here you are!”
I looked at it and got confused.
“No name?” She shrugged her shoulders, “we only write down what they want to be passed on, sorry.”
All that was on it was a number.
310-978-1601
I’m starting to think something is wrong here.

I unlocked my door and paraded into my apartment. I threw my keys and bag onto the counter. I shoved my shoes off and laid down on my couches; grabbing a pillow to hold against my chest.
As far as I know, I am really pregnant.
I am growing a human in my stomach.
One that I can care for and give my heart to.
But the first thing that’ll start this journey is messaging the father of our child.

From: Me
My name is Penelope. I know you don’t know me, but you made a donation to the Virginia Center for Reproductive Medicine and I was the chosen woman. If you don’t want contact just tell me that. Have a good evening.
Sent. My anxiety was off the charts. What if he was a psychopath? What if he’s abusive? What if he hates-
*ding*
My phone lit up and I dreaded the message; but I opened it with shaky hands.
From: Unknown
Wait seriously? I'm going to be a dad?! Did it go okay?
From: Me
Um yes it went fine. I can test if it worked in three days. But may I know some things about you, though?
From: Unknown
What do you want to know?
From: Me
What’s your name?
From: Unknown
I’m John. Where are you living?
From: Me
Virginia; but only for my job.
From: John
I’m actually in Virginia currently on a business trip; would you mind meeting up?
Meeting up? Is it too quick?
From: John
I get if it weirds you out I just would like to build a relationship with the mother of my baby.
From: Me
Babies*
From: John
Excuse me?
From: Me
My biggest aspiration was to be a mother but I’ve always wanted twins. I’m sorry that was not what you expected.
From: John
It’s not me carrying the child, love; I don’t mind at all. It was just, as you said, unexpected. How long ago was the procedure?
From: Me
This morning.
From: John
Could I possibly take you out to dinner tomorrow?
What do I say?

How should she react?
