First Day of My Life

It’s the 17th of April and the girls and I are back home to our daily routine. Harry is home with us until the 21st. In this time we agreed that we would finish planning the wedding and I’m beyond excited. It feels so good to have our family together again in our apartment.

“Do you want to go house hunting today?” Harry asked me randomly as we were eating breakfast. We’ve talked about getting a house for after we’re married, but that was about the extent of it.

“Sure why not. If we find one we both like can we put a bid on it and move in ASAP. While I love my apartment I don’t know how much longer the girls can go on sharing a room,” I said to him and he laughed.

“Yeah, their outgrowing that room. I would be nice to get them official big girl beds as well,”

“Exactly! Plus we’re going to be married anyways,”

“Eight months and eight days to be exact,” He said with a proud smile plastered on his face.

“Correct. I also figured we wouldn’t want to move in winter anyways,” I said and he nodded his head before giving me a kiss.

“Then it’s settled. I’ll go call my realtor and see if he can set some things up for us today,” Harry said before walking out of the kitchen and into his study. While he was on the phone I plated the girls’ food and then went backup stairs to wake them up. Per usual waking them up was hard and once they were up at least one of them felt the need to be carried downstairs. Today it happened to be Clementine. I sat her on her booster seat and then pushed all three of their chairs into the table and they began to eat. My phone began to vibrate so I walked into the kitchen and sat up on the counter so I could still keep an eye on the girls while being on the phone.

“Good morning beautiful,” Masha said on the other end of the phone. Since we’ve been back she’s been staying with Blake.

“Good morning Mash. Why the early morning call?” I asked her. She is never up this early and even if she is, she has a no human communication until noon rule.

“Well I’m staying with our lovely friend Blake here and you know how much he loves watching the news. I also happen to know how you don’t watch it until night, so I thought I should let you know the girls’ school is closed because a pipe burst in it last night,” She said.

“So Blake was on his way out for his morning run. Woke you up and told you to call me and tell me this?” I asked her laughing. I know both of my best friends too well.

“Basically. Now that I’ve done my job I am going back to bed and will talk to you later,” Masha said hanging up as Harry walked into the dining room and kissed each of the girls’ heads before coming over to me.

“We’re all set to start searching after we drop the girls off at school,”

“They’re going to have to tag along. A pipe burst and the school is closed today,” I said and he nodded his head.

“Sounds good. Also while on the phone I received a text from Jen asking if she could take Clemmie with her all next week to Florida to visit her parents. I wanted to talk to you about it first,” He said which confused me.

“Why do you want to talk to me about? She’s her mom so why not?” I asked.

“I you’re her mom also and you’re helping raise her so I wanted to make sure you’d be okay with it,” He said.

“Of course. I’m not going to keep her away from her mom and grandparents,”

“I just wanted to be sure,” he said before giving me a kiss and then going to sit at the table with the girls. I stayed where I was at and sent a text to Tupie letting her know that she didn’t have to get the girls after school today.

“Don’t you think this is a little big?” I asked Harry as we walked around the basement level of a house Harry had fallen in love with. The girls were running ahead of us and giggling and talking to each other.

“I mean we do want to have more kids in the future so we need a place big enough to allow us to grow our family. Plus when our friends and family come they can stay with us instead of a hotel,” He said smiling at me.

“Would you like to go check out the master suite?” Tom, Harry’s realtor, asked the two of us as we approached him.

“Sure why not? Come on girls,” Harry said and they all ran to him. He allowed Violet onto his back while he carried both Clementine and Eleanor. We had to go up two flights of stairs and once they we sat them down and they went into the first room they saw.

“This is one of the bedrooms,” Tom said pointing to the room they went in. Harry and walked in to check it out, and it wasn’t too bad. The closet was a nice size so that’s a plus.

“Do you three want to stay in here or come with mommy and daddy?” I asked them and they all opted to stay in the one room.

“Okay, but stay here and don’t go downstairs without one of us,” Harry told them sternly and they nodded their heads. Tom then showed us around the other five rooms on this floor before taking us to the master suite at the end of the hall.

“And this is where you two love birds would be staying. Out those doors you have a balcony. If you’ll follow me I’ll show you to the bathroom and walk in closet,” He said and Harry and I followed him. The bathroom and closet were a nice size. After showing us the whole house and the yard he left Harry and I alone to talk while the girls literally ran circles around us.

“I do love this house,” Harry said looking at me with excitement icing over his eyes.

“I did always want a balcony. Do we need six other rooms though?” I asked him.

“You always said how you wanted to have six kids. The girls will get their own rooms and then we other kids they will each have their own rooms,” He said pulling me close to him. I thought about it and looked around the room.

“And you’re one hundred percent that you love it?” I asked him and he nodded his head.

“Then let’s put in an offer,” I said to him and his eyes got wide and his excitement level grew.

“Really?”

“Really, really. Now go find Tom and I’ll get the girls,” I said to him. He kissed my cheek and then hurried downstairs.

“Momma can you carry me pwease?” Eleanor asked me and I picked her up. Violet walked in front of me and Clementine walked beside me while holding my free hand. By the time I got to the bottom of the stairs Harry and Tom were shaking hands. Tom walked outside and Clementine ran over to her dad and he picked her up.

“He’s going to call in our offer. Thankfully the owners are in a rush to sell so we should hear back soon. He said he might even have an answer when he comes back in,” Harry said and I nodded my head.

“Can we go see peepers, Granna, and Aunt Honey?” Clementine asked me.

“How about this, I can call them and see if you can spend the night with them on Saturday Tonight why don’t we watch a movie?” I asked her and she nodded her head. I swear my daughters are obsessed with both mine and Harry’s parents as well as their three aunts.

“Wild Things!” Eleanor exclaimed and I nodded my head.

“We can watch Where the Wild Things are. Maybe we could even make a pizza tonight. Does that sound fun?” Harry asked them and all three nodded their heads. Harry leaves Sunday and then on Monday Jennifer is coming to pick up Clementine.

“I have good news!” Tom said walking in with a smile on his face, “They’ve accepted your offer. All we have to do is the paperwork and then the house is yours. As you saw the house is completely empty so your closing process could honestly only be a day or two from now,” Tom said and Harry let out a cheer.

“You’re in our new house girls,” he said looking at our daughters and they all just smiled not really caring about a new house.

“I’ll be in touch in with you guys tomorrow to tell you the plan of attack here. It was great to finally meet you Lila,” Tom said shaking my hand.

“You too,” I said. I then took the girls out to the car while Harry stayed back to talk to Tom. I put them all in their carseats and buckled them and then I got in the passenger’s seat and sent a text in the group chat asking if the girls could spend the night on Saturday.

“Mommy can Nora and Lottie come with me next week?” Clementine asked me.

“Not this time Clemmie. This is a trip for you and your momma to go see your Mama and Pepa,” I said turning and looking back at her. Her eyes began to water and I’m pretty sure my heart was broken for the thousandth time because of one of these girls.

“But we want to go with Clemmie,” Lottie said taking ahold of Clementine’s right hand.

“I’m sorry buggies, but you can’t go with her. I promise that all of us will take a trip together soon,”

“No mommy! Now!” Nora shouted just as Harry opened his car door.

“No shouting at your mom. What’s going on?” He asked as he sat down in his seat.

“I want sissys to come with me,” Clementine said through her tears and Harry just looked at me and I sighed and looked down.

“I’m sorry girls, but this is a trip only for Clementine,”
