TWO GHOSTS

Chapter Nine / Please.

You woke up with a warm smile on your face. The sun peeking through the blinds didn't bother you, the alarm blaring into your ear couldn't be heard, and the headache that suddenly happened could be worse...you sneezed, feeling your head throb and your legs shake from under the covers. Your mouth vibrates again from multiple sneezes, your body quivers. You tucked yourself more under your sheets as sweat begins to drip down your forehead.
"Fuck." You say, realizing you have a fever.
"Potty mouth."
You look toward your open bedroom door, spotting Harry with medicine and a glass of water. He says as he approached the bed, "You always did have a weak immune system." He sat on the edge of the bed, opening the small container of pills. He handed you two, and gestured the glass of water toward you. You openly accepted his care, immediately laying back down after. You noticed his outfit. Harry was wearing a black button up with rolled up sleeves, dark jeans, and his hair was perfectly fixed up. You questioned, "Are you going somewhere?"
"I clean up good, don't I?" Harry teased.
"It looks like you're going on a date." You say.
Usually you'd be more careful to what you say, but the fever has you frazzled and confused.
"He's going on a date with me."
Another figure walked into the room, Tyler. He was dressed up nicely too. You don't recall the last time you saw the Styles twins in one room together at the same time. It was nice being able to see them both.
Harry said, "We're meeting our mum for lunch. I'll be back soon, no less than an hour. Can you handle yourself until then? I'll leave the medicine and a bowl of soup by your bed-"
"She's not a child, Harry." Tyler said.
Harry looked annoyed, but he didn't bother to snap back. Instead, Harry tucked you into the bed. He didn't kiss you directly, but he did kiss the air around you. You felt like a child, but you were pretty sure Harry was making you feel like so in spite of Tyler's words. Harry stood up, walking toward the bedroom door, ready to leave.
Tyler walked over to you and whispered, "Kick this fever's ass, babe." He joked, making you grin through your pain.
. . .
It's been 45 minutes since the twins had left. You denied being bed ridden, so you tried your best to walk around the small flat. You warmed up the bowl of soup Harry had left you, watching it spin in the microwave. You carefully ate it all after before snuggling against the couch with your blanket wrapped around you.
You were at peace right now.
No twins.
No drama.
No decisions.
Before you could rest your eyes, the front door swung open. Immediately, there was yelling coming from Tyler, "Oh, I'm sorry that I couldn't stand mum praising you while ignoring my existence yet again."
Harry shut the door behind him, "You said we were going to make up. You made the arrangements. How did you think she was going to be after knowing how much of a let down you are?"
"Fuck you." Tyler roared.
"No, fuck you." Harry spat.
"Please."
The twins looked at you simultaneously.
You sniffled, staring at them both. You weren't sure if your voice was cracked because of the tears that were ready to fall, or the sickness that defeated your body. You simply said again, "Please." Your voice was heartbreaking, and it hurt to speak. You begged in the simplest way, one that would make both understand. You stared at them before Harry finally moved toward you, sitting beside you on the couch. He sat down with hands on his lap, but his side still touched you. Tyler eventually sat on the other side of you, having the same position like Harry.
This was perfect to you, even if you were terribly sick.
Harry mumbled, "I'll make you some more soup." As he got up and walked into the kitchen, Tyler said with a soft voice directed toward Harry, "Don't treat her like a child--"
You sneezed roughly and in a quick motion, Tyler's hand rested on your thigh. You looked at him, catching concern in his eyes. Tyler's eyes scanned your health, and with a voice as weak as yours he asked, "Do you need anything else?"
You shook your head, "You two are all I need."
Tyler gave a faint smile, "You're so cheesy."
"Shut up." You laughed before having a terrible cough and another rough sneeze.
Even if the twins ended up taking care of you, all you really cared about was that they weren't arguing. If anything, they communicated with each other throughout the two days you were sick. Harry would stay and watch over you, making sure you were hydrated while Tyler would go out and buy things you needed.
You looked at Harry who was stirring the soup. You then looked at Tyler who was separating the medicine. In a dazed thought you asked, "Were you two always fighting? Or did it happen just because of me?" Your voice was soft and quiet. The twins glanced at one another before looking back at you.
Harry looked down to the bowl of soup, "Always fighting." Harry was lost in thought, "..since...erm..."
"I would say since we were fourteen." Tyler said, feeling uncomfortable.
"But why?" You pushed on, "You two are so great when you're working together."
Tyler smirked, "When we saw how different we were really, I guess."
You could tell how uncomfortable the two were, but you kept pushing. You sniffled, "I think you two are more alike than you say."
You caught the twins grinning at each other as if they told a joke only the two would understand.
Harry chuckled, "Do you remember when we fought over the old doll we found by the river?" He looked at Tyler who was chuckling. Harry said, "We loved that doll, for own separate reasons. I loved it for it's odd shape of hair."
"And I loved it because of how creepy it looked." Tyler chuckled, "When we told our mum about it, and how we liked it for our own reasons, she said--"
"You're more alike than you say." The twins said in sync.
The twins laughed with one another.
Harry's voice was upbeat, "She said that because in the end, we were arguing over something we both wanted."
You leaned your head to the side, resting it. You were fine on the sidelines, watching the two laugh and talk over memories they shared. Your eyes lids became heavy. You remembered you haven't slept all day, you were exhausted. As you drifted off to sleep, you can still hear the Styles twins laugh and talk through the rest of the day.

Ugh, this is soo hard. Harry feels like home. He's warm, a sense of familiarity and warmth. The person that's been right under your nose all this time. But Tyler is exciting, butterfly inducing, like a first crush. He's the guy you know you should probably stay away from but want to know everything about. After this chapter I would say Harry but that school dance ordeal was hella messed up. I know I'd still be angry about it all those years later. Tyler is always there when Harry isn't which is sweet but I think he's more of an after thought to her(me) which will probably cause problems later on. It's like she's asking him to fill H's shoes when he can't be there which is a pretty lofty request and probably makes him feel even worse. Harry could very well be selfish, manipulative in expressing his feelings and Tyler could be genuine. Who knows. I can't say either of them is the better twin at this point. I think we should get to know more about Tyler first. I really wish this sibling rivalry between Harry and Tyler would end though because this "I'm the better twin" stuff is making it hard to choose!
