Louis's POV:
"Annabelle?! Please, love, wake up. Please wake up," I pleaded, as I dialed an ambulance on my phone.

"Hello. What is your emergency?" the lady on the phone asked.

"I need an ambulance. My my uhm friend, yes my friend just collapsed and she's not responding to me," I told her.
I wasn't sure if I should call her my girlfriend or not. She never really told me what she felt.

"Okay, where is your location?" she then asked.
I looked around, "I'm in a park. Downtown, uhm I can't think of the address just please hurry," I pleaded to the woman.

"It's all right, sir. Just calm down, I have your phone's location. I'm sending the ambulance now," she said.

"O-okay, uhm, I don't know what to do," I rambled more to myself than the person on the line.
"
Don't hang up," the woman told me. "Is your friend breathing?"
I looked at Annabelle. Her chest was slightly rising, signaling she was still somewhat breathing. "Yes, yes she is," I responded.

"Okay, is she hurt in any way?" I was then asked.

"No, she's not. She has cancer, and she was only given three years to live," I told the woman, my voice cracking at the end. "This is her third year."

"Oh, I'm so sorry," the woman said. "Are you guys really close?"
Tears slipped out of my eyes and rolled down my cheeks, "Yeah, I-I love her," I confided in the woman.
I let out a sob.

"Oh honey, everything is going to be okay. The ambulance should be there in just a few short minutes. Please stay strong, for her," she told me, sadness evident in her voice.
Stay strong, for her. Those words are the ones I've lived by for the past 2 years. How ironic for her to be telling me now.
Off in the distance I heard the sirens. "I can hear them coming," I then said.

"All right," she responded. "What's your name, honey?"

"Louis," I said. The ambulance came into view.

"Well, Louis, is the ambulance there?" she asked.
I looked up. Sure enough, the ambulance pulled up beside us. Two men jumped out. "They're here," I said quietly.

"All right, Louis. I'm going to hang up now. You call back if you need anything else. Ask for Lisa," she told me.

"O-okay, thank you, Lisa," I told her.

"No problem, honey," she said. Then the dial tone was heard.
I hung up my phone to watch the men load Annabelle on the stretcher. "Please be careful with her," I pleaded.

"Don't worry, we've got her," one of the men assured.
I watched them load her into the back of the vehicle. "Can I please come with you?" I asked.
They looked at each other. "I don't know if we're allowed to do that," the same one said.

"Please," I begged, "can I ride in the front or something? Strap me on top, I don't really care."
The other man spoke, "You really love her don't you?" he asked, climbing into the ambulance.

"With everything I am, sir," I told him, wiping my eyes once again.
They shared a glance and shrugged.

"All right, kid," the other said, getting into the driver's side. "Sit up here."
I ran to the door and got in as quick as I could.
When we were speeding down the road, I sent all of the boys a text, telling them what was going on.

To: Niall, Harry, Zayn, Liam
From: Louis
I 'm headed to the hospital. Belle collapsed. Come quick

The replies came within seconds.

From: Harry
I'm almost there, is she all right? What happened?

From: Niall
Z, L, and me are in the car, almost there. Please tell me she's all right

From: Zayn
We're on our way. Don't worry, Lou, everything's gonna be all right

From: Liam
We're almost there, is she all right? Are you all right?

I decided not to reply, they all would understand.

We pulled into the hospital emergency, and the guys were already there, standing in the little waiting lobby it has.
I watched as they wheeled Annabelle to the back, pumping oxygen into her mouth.

"LOUIS!" Harry yelled, coming over to me. "Are you okay?"

"No," I replied, sniffing a little. "No, I'm not."

"Everything is going to be okay, the doctors know what they're doing," Liam assured.

"Yeah, she's strong, Lou, you know that," Zayn said. "She's gonna pull through this."

"What happened?" Niall asked.
I recounted the story to them.

"Why do things like this have to happen?" Harry asked, running a hand through his hair.

"They have to happen to somebody, Haz," Liam said.

"But why us?" I asked, sitting down. "Why her?"

"I don't know, Lou," he said, sitting next to me. "I don't know."
