New Girl

Chapter Two

Iris and her family pulled up to their new house and her mom paid the taxi bill. Getting out of the cab, they went to the truck of the cab and grabbed their luggage. Watching the cab drive away, the moving truck was pulling up to the house, and that when Iris decided to look at the house.

She was impressed by the size. The house was a lot larger than their old house back in New York.

In New York, they had a decent sized brick red house with three bedrooms and two bathrooms- one in the master bedroom and one in the hallway for Iris and her two brothers to share.

Now, they have a much bigger house. It was a two storied house excluding the attic and basement. The exterior was beige walls with inconsistent colors of light and dark brown stones covering a huge part of the front of the house with a light brown roof. It looked to have at least four to five bedrooms.

Based on the observation, the overall look of the house was beautiful, Iris thought.

With that in mind, Iris was the first to walk in the house and picked out her bedroom- which was on the second floor- leaving her brothers to help unload the truck with the other men.

She picked a room that was on the second floor and at the end of the hallway. The room she chose was an off white with light brown wooden floors. There was a huge mirror installed into the wall along with a white dresser, and the lights were installed inside the ceiling. The room had a mini hallway leading to a walk-in closet, and across from the closet was a bathroom.

Her room also had a balcony with a view of the house next to theirs. She made a mental note to get some long curtains to cover the glass doors to the balcony.

To say that she was happy that she got to this room before anyone else was a major understatement. She was way beyond excited to decorate her new room. She kind of liked the idea of having a white on white room. The room was just perfect for her and she couldn't of asked for anything for better.

Iris' mother, breaking Iris from her amazement of her new room, came walking down the hallway with her black heels clicking against the wooden floor carrying a box labeled 'Family Pictures'

"See, I told you the house was beautiful." Lauren stated putting the box down careful not to shatter the glass to the picture frames.

Iris just nodded and walked in the room putting her luggages against one of the walls and looked around to get a better look of the room. Her mom followed her in and admired her
room along with Iris.

"I thought you'd like this room." Lauren smiled giving her daughter a side hug. "So, I bought you a new carpet and bed. Your belongings should be coming in, in a few minutes by the way."

Iris hugged her mother tightly and thanked her.

Yeah, Iris may come off as a mysterious and tough because she's reserved and quiet. It's rare, actually, that she even lets her guard down, but with her family, she let it down sometimes. She doesn't spend time with her family since her dad left. Don't get her wrong, she'll always protect and love her family, but she has a hard time showing her emotions, and she doesn't trust many people easily. If you want her trust, you'll have to earn it. But, everyone once in a while she'll show she her love and appreciation for her mom and brothers because doesn't want them to think that she doesn't love them.

In walked Brendan and one of the guys from the moving truck to put down the new white carpet Iris' mother ordered. Iris and her mom walked out of the room to get out of the way. Iris stood at the door watching them unroll the carpet, and her mom walked to the kitchen to put away the kitchen supplies.

After they unrolled the carpet, two more guys walked in with Iris' white bed frame setting it down against the huge white wall. Brendan eventually left the room to find his room and to unload the rest of the stuff off of the moving truck. Iris was the last one to get her bed and other belongings into the house.

Iris, instead of watching the moving guys put the bed together, decided to take the box of family pictures that her mom left in the hall against the wall and hang them up.

Once she was done with the hallway, she walked down the stairs and down small a hallway placing more pictures in that hall. Then she continued to walk down the same small hallway which led to the living room. She walked into the living room and was impressed as she soaked in the image of the living room. She then went on to hang up the pictures on the wall and place some of the pictures on the side. She was finally done.

She saw another box near the mirror that took up the entire wall. It had little statues in it, and she placed them on the table under the TV. The living room was finally finished. She was proud of her little accomplishment and decided to reward herself with a small snack.

She walked through the door that lead to the kitchen from the living room and saw her mom still putting away utensils and plates.

"I finished the living room and hallways." Iris told her mother while opening the refrigerator and grabbing a water bottle and ingredients to make a sandwich.

Her mother just nodded and continued to sort through all utensils. Lauren was putting all the forks, spoons, and butter knives in their right compartments in one of the top drawers.

Meanwhile, Iris placed the ingredients down on the white counter top of the island. She grabbed a small plate and one of the butter knives from the pile her mother had next to her. She rinsed the plate and knife off before using them.

She picked up one of the two pieces of bread and began to spread miracle whip all over the bread and proceeded to do the same to the other piece. She hated mayonnaise and used miracle whip as a replacement. She then place two pieces of smoked ham from the little plastic baggy onto the bread along with lettuce and a slice American cheese. She placed the last piece of bread on top to complete her sandwich.

She took a bite of her sandwich and almost moaned at taste. The sandwich was the first thing she's eaten since the plane ride a few hours ago. She was hungry. She continued to eat her sandwich and took sips of water until she finish her sandwich and then saved her water for later by putting the water back in the refrigerator wanting it to be cold the next time she drank it.

Once she finished her small snack, she placed the ingredients back in the refrigerator and then proceeded to wash the knife and plate. She walked over to her mom with the knife and plate and decided to help her mom put away the rest of the kitchen supplies.

Iris left her mom to finish up with the plates and utensils while she got started on putting the spices and seasonings in the cupboard next to the stove. When she done, she moved on to putting the wine glasses and other cups in another cupboard.

"Iris be careful putting the wine glasses in the cupboard. Put them on one of the top shelves." Lauren spoke.

Iris just rolled her eyes and continued to put the cups in the cupboard and putting the wine glasses on the top shelf like her mother told her to. Her mother finished putting away the utensils and plates and had moved on putting the pots and pans away in one of the lower cabinets. Iris eventually finished with cups and moved on to help her mother.

"You know, you and Aiden start school on Monday. You're going to Red Bridge High, and Aiden is going to Lakewood Junior High" Lauren announced.

Iris groaned. She honestly wasn't up to dealing with meeting people she didn't care about and the amount of work she's going to have. She didn't understand the point in starting school in the middle of the second semester. She just wanted to sleep, eat, and watch Netflix, but unfortunately, life didn't want to play by her rules. So she had to go to school. If she were to leave the house, it'd be because she was going to the gym for training which was like everyday for her back in America.

Now that she's moved to another country, she couldn't do that. She had nothing to train for anymore. Truth be told, she doesn't even want to fight anymore. Fighting was consuming her life, and she was getting sick of doing the same routines constantly. She needed something new.

Yes, she loves fighting, but she never wanted it to become her profession. In fact, she's always taken an interest in modeling. Despite her love for fighting, she also liked the thought of fashion and being in front of the camera. She loved clothes, shoes, getting her hair and makeup done, and even getting her nails done. Yeah, sounds weird coming from a girl like her, but she can't help it. Now that her mom is the CEO of 'InStyle' fashion magazine, she had a better opportunity to follow her dream career.

Iris and her mom finished up the kitchen an hour later, and Iris decided to go check on her new bed and where they decided to place it.

She walked in her room and looked around to see not only her bed but the rest of her belongings in the middle of the floor under a fluffy, white carpet. She nodded her head in content reminding herself to thank her mom again later for the new carpet and bed and then continued to walk to the boxes to put away some of her stuff.

She plugged her two white lamps on each side of her bed on the white bedside tables which the men had placed. She checked to make sure they still worked. She then moved on to put her white bed set on her bed and finished off with piling white pillows at the top of her bed.

She unpacked her makeup and put them in all three of the smaller drawers attached to her dresser. She put her foundation, concealers, highlighters, bronzers, eyeshadow palettes, and blushes in the first drawer. Next, she put her lipsticks (Liquid lips, lip gloss, ect.), mascara, eyeliners (pencil, liquid and gel), fake lashes, brow pencils in the second drawer, and the proceeded to put her beauty blenders and makeup brushes in the last drawer.

After putting her makeup away, she moved on to unpack her underwear, bras, and socks. She put all of them in their separate drawers. In the top drawer was her underwear ranging from lace to thongs to just plain panties for when she's on her period. She also filled the same drawer with all her bras from lace to sport bras. The middle was filled with her socks long, short and all sorts of colors. She was saving the bottom drawer for her sleepwear. She was going to fill it with tank tops, shorts, and pajama pants, but she wanted to wait until she unpacked her suitcases. Right now she was just focusing on the boxes.

Inside one of the boxes was a picture frame of her and her family and a couple of her favorite books. She took the picture frame out and put it on her bed side table and places the book she's currently reading in the drawer while she temporarily placed the other books on top of the three shelves attached to the mirror. She then grabbed another box that was filled with her perfumes and deodorants and started emptying it onto the other shelves attached to the mirror.

She deposed the empty boxes to the other side of her room already feeling the jetlag kicking in. She finished arranging her perfumes and other smell goods from largest to smallest because she thought it would look better and went to her suitcase to change out of her clothes.

She grabbed some shorts and a tank top because it was hot in her room and then went to her bathroom to change since she didn't have any curtains yet. After that, she picked up her clothes and walked back into her room and threw them in a pile on her white chair which was also placed in the room by one of the men.

She turned off her lights and climbed into her bed getting comfortable and feeling herself fall asleep. She slept through her mother calling her down for takeout and woke up at 2 AM. She got up, turned on one of her lamps, and cracked open her balcony door just a little because it was getting hot. She also went to her carry-on suitcase and grabbed her phone charger and plugged it in the wall so she could charge her iPhone 6 plus. She then crawled back in her bed and went back to sleep.
