Coffee?

-- Friday Morning--
Dahlia POV:
I walk to the coffee shop with my headphones in. It's beginning to fade from Fall to winter, so it's chilly. I can see my breath in the air as I walk. I open the door to the shop, and the heat hits me immediately. I take off my scarf and hat and smile at Ashton who's leaning on the work surface behind the counter.
"Hey Ash!" I beam. The shop is completely empty, as it's only 7:05 am.
"Hello" he looks tired. I laugh and sit down at the table closest to the counter. I pull my laptop out and log on.
"What're you doing here so early?" Ashton asks me, peering over at my laptop.
"I have an essay to write that I won't have chance to do later. I thought I'd wake up early and get a head start." I hear Ashton start to make a drink behind the counter. I look up at him confused. He places a blueberry muffin on a small plate and brings my usual drink over with along with the muffin.
"I'm assuming you haven't eaten, and that you're craving your usual..." I smile at him. He is slowly becoming one of my best friends, even though I've only known him for a few weeks.
"Thank you, Ashton. Yes, and yes!" I answer his questions.
I tuck into the muffin whilst typing away at my laptop. People slowly flow into café, and it gets harder to concentrate by the second.
"I'm gonna head off, Ash" I put my hat, scarf and coat back on. I place my laptop back in my bag and take my plate and rubbish up to the counter.
"Oh, okay. See you later?"
"Yes, do you want to meet up beforehand? I can swing by your dorm if you want?" I ask him, hoping he says yes.
"I'd like that." I smile at him, and I get a whiff of gingerbread.
"Oh my god... what is that smell?" I ask, very excited by the fact they have gingerbread themed items.
"Oh, we have a new gingerbread hot chocolate and few different gingerbread lattes etcetera, etcetera..." I suddenly feel the need to order everything from the winter menu.
"I need a gingerbread hot chocolate!" I reach in my purse and pull out a $20 bill. I hand it to Ashton, realising I didn't pay him for the muffin and drink I had when I first came in. He makes me my hot chocolate to go and we exchange goodbyes. I stroll back to campus to finish my essay. Luckily neither of us have classes today, so I have time to get ready for the party later.
When I reach my dorm, I sit down at my table and get out my laptop again. I'm about to start typing when I hear a knock at my door. I walk over to open it and as I do, I'm greeted by Luke and Michael.
"Hello stranger!" Luke yells, walking in, Michael not far behind him.
"Please, come on in!" I say, sarcastically.
"We already have..." Michael says confused. I roll my eyes and sit back down at the table to finish my work.
"So, what have you been up to D?" I look over at my two best friends, and realise how much I missed them. I shut my laptop and join them on the sofa. We chat about everything that's happened over the last two weeks and they are very excited about Ashton and I going to the party together. They tell me that they're going to help pick an outfit for me, and we head to my closet to find the perfect one.
After about an hour of going through options, we decide on a white bodycon dress with nude heels. I do a very natural makeup look, with a nude lip. By the time I'm ready, it's almost time for me to leave. Mila knocks on my bedroom door. She doesn't wait for a response as she glides in, in a LBD with nude strappy heels and a nude and black cross body bag.
"You look amazing, D!" She says placing both her hands on her chest.
"As do you, Mi!" She does a twirl and then yanks me up off the bed.
"Ciao, boys. I'm sure you can see yourself out." Mila waves pulling me out the room.
"Doesn't that mean hello?" Luke laughs whilst waving.
"Bye guys, love you!" I shout, already halfway out of the dorm. I let Mila know we have to stop off at Ashton's and she agrees. I tell her the little bits Ashton told me about Calum, and she says that he sounds nice. We reach Ashton's dorm and Mila knocks on the door. Calum opens the door and looks Mila up and down. He then turns around and shouts Ashton who emerges from his bedroom. He's dressed in ripped black skinny jeans and a grey, worn-out and faded green day shirt.
"Hey D!" He smiles and then casts his gaze to Mila "hi, I'm Ashton!" He reaches his hand out for Mila to shake.
"Hey, I'm Mila" she says, shaking his hand "lovely to finally meet you." She then turns to Calum, who's wearing black skinny jeans with a black and white baseball tee.
"Calum, I'm assuming..." she says giggling. He nods. "Cool, I'm Mila" he smiles
"Nice to meet you" he says
"Nice to meet you too!"
We reach the party and Calum and Mila head off together, holding hands.
"They're moving fast aren't they? They already look like I couple..." I shout to Ashton over the thumping music.
"You can tell they fancy each other, and they didn't stop talking the whole uber ride... they'll be married by next week" we laugh, and head to the kitchen to get drinks.
"What do you want?" Ashton asks pointing to the many different bottles of alcohol.
"Oh, I'll be a bore and have a Coke please" I say, cringing at myself. He takes two cups and fills them both.
"You don't have to not drink because I am you know? I don't mind if I have to carry you home." I smile at him.
"I know, but there's no way we can talk properly if I'm drunk and you're sober." He says, handing me a cup.
"Cheers to boring college party-ers" I say, raising my drink in he air.
"Cheers!" Ashton yells, tapping our cups together.
