Coffee?

Chapter 2

ASH POV:
I finish my first shift of the day in the shop and make my way to my midday class. I have History with Calum, my best friend. I've known Cal since we we're 7. He moved to Sydney and our mums became friends instantly. I suppose we were kinda forced to be friends, but I'm glad that we were.
I walk into the lecture hall, with Calum by my side. We take a seat at the back, taking out the things we need. I realise I don't have a pen.
"Cal do you have a spare pen mate?"
"No sorry, ask the girl next to you, she's brought a whole stationary shop with her." he chuckles.
"Oh shut up Calum." We both laugh and I turn to speak to her. "Excuse me do you ha-" I recognise the face instantly. It's the pretty girl from the coffee shop yesterday.
"Dahlia!" I exclaim.
"Ashton, hi! I didn't know you went here."
"Could say the same for you! Anyway do you have a spare pen?"
" Umm, yeah but I'm not sure it's your style..." she giggles.
"What do you mean? How can a pen not be my style?"
"Welllll..." She pulls out a pink pen with pink and white glittery feathers on the end. She looks down at it in her hand, smiling.
"Oh right, I see." I chuckle, retrieving the novelty pen out of her hand. "Thanks!"
"No problem, anytime." She smiles.

DAHLIA POV:
Class drags on, but I think it's because I can't stop glancing at Ashton, who's sat next to me. I don't know what it is about him, but my eyes are glued to him. As I'm studying his face, in the least creepy way possible, the class bell rings. I snap my head back to the front, so he doesn't catch me staring.
"Have I got something on my face?" He asks, looking concerned. He catches me off guard with his boldness.
"What?"
"You were looking at me. Do I have something on my face?" He asks, relaxing a little.
"Oh- Umm... No sorry I um."
"She thinks you're hot." The dark haired boy sat next to Ashton exclaims. I feel my face heat up at his words.
"Like what you see?" Ashton says, winking. I immediately feel the need to insult him, before his head grows any bigger, and potentially explodes.
"No." I sass "have you ever considered a dimple piercing though?" I question, raising my eyebrows.
"Wow, not enough aloe vera in the world to soothe that burn." The boy on Ashton's left laughes. "It's Calum by the way, Calum Hood."
"Dahlia Smith" I shake his hand, giggling. I look up, and notice we're the last ones in the hall.
"I'd better go, I'm going to miss my next class. See you round boys."
I jog down the stairs and I'm about to open the door when I hear my name.
"Dahlia!" Ashton yells. I spin on my heels noticing he's jogging after me.
"I was wondering if you have a phone...?"
"I do" I stare at him, playing dumb.
"well do you have a phone number?"
"yes Ashton, I have a phone number, it comes with the phone Hun..." I try to hold back my laughter. His smile falls and then he raises his eyebrows again.
"Oh, right, yeah. Uhm do you mind if I put your number in my phone...?"
"No. I don't give out my phone number." I say sternly, trying my best to keep a straight face .
"Oh, right okay. Um im sorry, I'll let you ge-"
"Ashton! I'm joking! Of course we can exchange numbers. But do you mind if you meet me later? My next professor is very strict and if I'm late, he will literally murder me..."
His face lights up again. He nods quickly, like a child who's parents just asked him if he wanted to go to the zoo.
"Yeah, absolutely. Go ahead, I'll catch you later!" He exclaims, excitedly.
"Okay, bye Ashton" I smile, practically sprinting away, trying desperately not to be late for English. I can already tell this is going to be a long day until I get to see Ashton again.
LUKE POV:
Dee bursts into the hall, panting like she just ran a marathon. She looks around quickly. She spots us and her face lights up. She joins me and Mikey and plonks herself down.
"Where's Professor Clarkson?" She looks around, still panting.
"He's off sick and they don't have a cover. They told us to stay here incase someone turns up though." Michael says.
"What's with the huge grin on your face?" I question, noticing she hasn't stopped smiling since she came through the door. She starts fiddling with her fingers, looking down in an attempt to hide her crimson red cheeks.
"DAHLIA PENELOPE GERTRUDE SMITHERSON, WHO'S THE BOY!?" Michael yells, getting a few strange looks from our class mates.
"MICHAEL GORDON FREDFORD CLIFFACONDA THAT IS NOT MY NAME!" Dahlia yells, stiffling back a giggle. "And there is no boy!" She whisper yells, suddenly aware of the fact that everybody is staring.
"You're a bad liar Dahlia, and you know it." I laugh.
"Fine! There's a boy. His names Ashton, he's hot, he works in the coffee shop off campus and WE'RE JUST FRIENDS !" She replies, getting really defensive.
"Woah woah woah... did you say he works in the coffee shop just off campus?" Michael asks, very intrigued.
"Yes, why?"
"Does he have light brown hair? Cute hazel eyes? Dimples?"
"Yes... don't tell me you know him." Dahlia says, concerned.
"No no no, he served me a few days ago. He is very hot" Michael exclaims, clearly excited by Dahlia's new 'friend'. Michael is like the gay best friend me and Dee never had. Mainly because he's not gay, but he sure loves the gossip. Dahlia goes quiet, her face turning red again.
"Hey Dee, what's up?" I say quietly, noticing she's thinking about something. I can see she's still smiling, but I know she's hiding something. Dahlia smith is the worst liar in the history of liars.
"I'm meeting Ashton later." She almost whispers.
"For a date?" Michael questions, wiggling his eyebrows.
"No! For a phone number exchange if you must know."
"What? So he can ask you on a date? Dahlia Smith you little minx!"
"Oh Michael, shut up!" Dahlia and I say in unison. Dee rolls her eyes, pretending to be annoyed with Mikey. The bell rings and we all stand up, heading for the door.
"I'm going back to my dorm, I'll catch you guys later." Dahlia waves.
"Yeah, and you can tell us all about your 'not date'." I yell. She flips me off, laughing, before disappearing into the crowd of students. I've not seen her this happy in months. Not since the incident, anyway.
