Through the Dark {Book Two}

Chapter Twenty Seven

I see Bailey’s car crossing traffic to turn into the lot, then I hear the sound of squealing tires on wet pavement followed by a huge explosion as a half ton Chevy pick up truck rams into Bailey’s little blue mini Cooper. Her car rolls three times before coming to a standstill on its roof.

I start sprinting the moment the two cars collide, when I reach the mini Cooper I get down on all fours to see if Bailey is conscious, I can see that she is slumped over the console and blood is pouring from her nose, mouth and head.

“Call 911 Now!” I yell at a onlooker

I look in the back seat to find Hadleigh still strapped into her safety seat. She is screaming with blood running down her face as well.

”Haddie, listen to me love. Cover your eyes sweetheart ok?” I tell her

She grabs her stuffed bear and puts it over her face. I take off my t-shirt and wrap it around my hand. One.. Two.. Three punches and the window is broken out. I squeeze through and manage to unsnap Haddie’s safety seat and pull her out of the car.

As I get up with Haddie hanging on to my neck, a round of clapping begins. I didn’t know a crowd had even formed but I’m grateful they did because paramedics have just arrived on the scene. I hurry over and hand Haddie over to them.

“Is there anyone else in the car?” A medic asks

”Yes her mother she’s unresponsive and bleeding.” I tell them

”ok sir please wait over there with your daughter” he tells me

I walk over to the ambulance where Hadleigh is sitting on a gurney.

“Are you riding with your daughter?” A different medic asks me

”No. she... she’s not my daughter but I will call h right now to meet you there” I tell him

i take out my phone as I watch the other medic team cut off Bailey’s door to get her out. I dial Liam’s number and wait for him to answer. When he finally does I explain to him that Bailey and Hadleigh have been in a bad accident and he needs to meet Haddie at St. Hodges hospital immediately.

Liam starts to freak out so I have to talk him through calming down just like I do Bailey when she has her panic attacks. When he’s calmed down enough he tells me he will meet me at the hospital too.

Now I turn my focus back to Bailey. The paramedics have the door off but are having an issue getting her out.

“Tell Paul we need a class A neck collar and a saw to remove the steering wheel” a medic shouts

I jog back over to where I left Everlee standing.

“Daddy is Haddie going to be ok?” She asks me

”Yes my love she’ll be ok” I pick her up

”What about Bailey?” She says

i turn around to see what’s going on, the medics have her out and strapped to a gurney as well now. Her bloody, lifeless body is hoisted into an ambulance and hauled off to the hospital as well. I ask the firemen over and over if she is ok and they don’t answer me.

“Please for the love of god will someone tell me if she is fucking ok!” I yell

Everlee starts crying loudly because I’ve yelled in her ears scaring her.

“Shhh shhh it’s ok baby daddy’s sorry” I hug her close

”Sir we need to work on her, if you’d like you can meet us at St. Hodges hospital where they can further assist you” a fireman tells me

Furious with tears of fear and anger rolling down my face I call Harry and Hendryx.

”Ello mate” Harry answers

“Harry, there’s been an accident involving Bailey and Haddie” I huff

“What do you mean, what kind of accident?” I hear Hendryx ask worried stricken

”A car accident just meet us at St. Hodges and call her parents please!” I plead

Once I reach the hospital Everlee and I hurry inside. We see Liam right away. He jogs over and ask what happened so I tell him what I witnessed.

”I was standing by my car in Bailey’s parking lot, Bailey was turning to come into the driveway when a giant pick up truck T-boned Bailey’s car. It rolled three times before stopping on the hood. I ran over to her car and punched out one of the windows to get to Hadleigh out. How is she doing by the way?”

”She’s going to be ok, 8 stitches in her eyebrow and a broken arm. She’s lucky” Liam says

A nurse calls for Liam to come back to Hadleigh’s room. I am stuck in the waiting room waiting for Bailey by myself with Harry, Hendryx and Everlee. It’s not long before her parents arrive with Summer and Annie and Zayn get there.

“Trauma team 1 we have an incoming less than three minutes out!” A nurse yells

Like she said five minutes later an ambulance comes in and Bailey is brought in through the back door. Her clothes have been cut off and she has wires hanging off of her from everywhere. There is a medic squeezing an oxygen mask as she is rushed into a trauma room. The doctor slides the door shut but it bounces back open enough to where I can see her and hear what is going on.

”Give me 50cc of morphine! I need two IV sites started and get her hooked up to 150mL of ozygen! prep her for the OR as well let’s go people now!” The doctor yells orders

By this time I can hear Harry calling for me. He comes over and asks how she’s doing.

“I don’t know she just got here.” I tell him

We all sit and chitchat for a few moments before we hear the doctor start yelling again.

“Flatline! code blue! she’s flatlining! get the paddles ready blood pressure is down to 42!”
