All I Danced For

This Is How It Began

-4 years old-

"Mommy, what if they don't like me?" I mumbled.
"They'll love you sweetie." She assured me with a soft smile.
I took a deep breath and nodded my head slowly.
"It's time, go and meet the others." She kissed my forehead.
I nodded my head again and walked slowly into the dance room.
I saw all the kids watching me and felt the heat rise to my cheeks.
"Boys and girls, we have a new girl in the class today. tell them your name sweetheart." The teacher smiled at me.
"I- I'm Saige Williams." I stuttered and some of them began to giggle.
"And how old are you?" The teacher asked me.
"F- Four." I answered quietly.
"Well, welcome Saige. We're sure that you will enjoy it here. Go sit with the other kids." She pointed at the group in front of me from about maybe 10 to 15 other kids.
I walked to the back of it and sat down.
The teacher began to talk about what we were gonna do that day when a girl tapped my shoulder.
I turned to her and she smiled.
"Hi, I'm Lauren." She smiled at me.
"I'm Saige." I mumbled back.
"Do.. Do you want to be my friend?" She asked.
I smiled happily at her question.
"I would love to." I smiled....

-6 years old-

"Okay, girls and boys, take your positions. It's time." The teacher, I learned her name was Melanie, smiled excited.
I took a deep breath as I went to my place, waiting for the music to begin.
I saw my mom in the public and smiled nervously.
She smiled back at me and nodded her head confidently.
The music began to play and we all began to dance in sync.
My worries disappeared as soon as I took the first move. My confidence grew with every step as I began to smile.
Okay.. One, two, three, four... Five six seven eight.
I can do this, this is what I like to do, and I'm good at it. I can do this...
After we finished the routine the crowd began to clap enthusiastically.
My eyes searched for my mom and saw that she had tears in her eyes and was smiling from ear to ear.

We were all sitting nervously backstage, ready to be called up for the results.
When we got called we walk quietly to the stage.
"Now for the results.." The presenter begins.
There were 12 groups that participated.
"On fifth place we have Dance Avenue."
I held my breath.
"Fourth place... Stars Academic Dancing School."
I look over to Lauren and she looks back at me. We grab each other's hands and wait while the counting goes on.
"On the third place... Until The Dawn."
"On second.... The Butterflies."
It's first or nothing,., it's first or nothing..
"And the first place goes to...."
"The Spotlight Academy!"
The crowd began to cheer and I saw that my friends began to jump. I just stared blankly ahead of me.
"You heard that Saige? We won! We won!" Lauren shook my arm.
I smiled softly and nodded my head.
I searched for the two eyes that mattered the most to me. When I found them I saw tears in them. I smiled brighter and waved at my mom.
We won....

-14 years old-

I walk into the dancing room and see my mom already warming up.
"You ready?" She asks.
I nod my head and turn on the music.
"Same dance as last week?"
I nod my head again.
"It's the dance for the competition so, yeah." I stand a few metres away from her.
I take a deep breath and count on the beat.
"Okay, one, two, three, four.." I count as I begin the routine.
I count on in my head as my mom follows my movements.
I'm so lost in my dance until I hear someone scream.
I looked up and it took me a few seconds to realize that my mom was on the ground, screaming out in pain before she blacked out.
"Mom?" I ran to her and kneeled down next to her.
"Mom?!" I asked in panic.
"Somebody help!" I yelled, even though we were the only ones here.
I ran to my phone and dialed 119.
"Hello? It's my mom.. She.. She fell and.. Her legs look weird.. She blacked out.. I don't know what to do." I cried...

"What are you talking about 'you can't dance anymore'?!" I yelled at my dad.
"Didn't you see what it did to your mother! I don't want you to dance." He yelled back at me.
"I don't care what you want! I'm going to continue dancing!"
"You're not going to dance and that final!"
I looked to the ground as tears started to fill my eyes.
"Thanks for being such a great dad." I muttered as I turned around and ran into the room that belongs to my mom.
I sat next to her bed and sobbed little tears into my sleeves.
"What's wrong?" She asked.
I looked up to her.
It's been a few weeks since the accident happened.
"I'm not allowed to dance anymore." I muttered.
"What?"
"Dad doesn't let me dance anymore."
"Because of my accident."
I nodded my head.
"Sweetie, I'm so sorry.." She began.
"No, it's okay mom, you can't do anything about it." I stood up and ran away.
I ran out of the hospital and sat out a bench outside.
I can't dance anymore.
Only because my mom got an accident.
An accident that happened because of me.
I was the one who wanted her to dance with me, I was the one who needed to practice.
And now?
Now she's paralyzed until her hips. She never will be able to dance anymore.
All because of me....

It's been a few months since my mom's accident when she called me.
"Yeah?!" I walked into the kitchen.
"Sit down." She commanded.
I lifted my eyebrows and sat down.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
She looked sneakily around her before telling.
"I was thinking...." She smirked.
"Oh god."
"The school had extra science lessons..."
I lifted an eyebrow, trying to figure out where she was going with this.
"Which apparently are on the same times as dance school has her classes.
I frowned, not understanding it.
"So what if we say to your dad that you went to science class, while you actually go to dance class.." She smirked.
It took a few seconds before I began to smile from ear to ear.
"I can dance?!" I jumped up.
"Ssshhh! Your dad can't hear us or we're both dead!" She tried to stop me from yelling.
I smile and hug her.
"Thank you so much mom." I mumble as tears begin to appear in my eyes...

Okay, now, if this is confusing you, I'll explain.
I'm Saige Williams.
I'm now 18 years old.
I went to Julliard and I'm currently living in California with my parents.
I'm dancing for 14 years now (4 years in secret).
My mom got an accident when I was fourteen and my dad didn't want me to dance anymore.
I have a best friend named Lauren, who went to Julliard with me.
And this...
This is how my adventure began...
