16. Going Home Anyways

“W-Wesley? Evelina stuttered, just staring at her husband.
The husband who is supposed to be dead, not standing in her parents’ doorway.
As Niall walked up, he was confused to see a man standing in front of her and Evelina looking like she sees a ghost. The man looked familiar, but he couldn’t place it.
“Evelina? Who is this?” Niall asked, continuing to look at the tall, brunette.
“Yes. Who are you? Because my ex-husband died in a car accident five years ago,” Evelina snapped, making everything make sense to Niall.
This was Evelina’s supposed-to-be late husband.
“Evela, let me explain,” Wesley said, hoping Evelina would listen and believe him.
“Explain what, Wesley? How I buried you five years ago? How I told my son that his father loved him, even though he never got a chance to formally meet him?” she yelled, furious.
“Well, I’m not dead, for starters,” Wesley said, immediately regretting it.
“No shit, Sherlock!” Evelina yelled.
Niall didn’t even know where to begin, his mind was in too much shock to even think straight.
“My father is dead though…” Wesley continued, ignoring Evelina’s comment.
“Of course, you would be all buddy-buddy with your asshole of a father!”
“Don’t you dare speak of him like that!” Wesley yelled, letting his management slip.
After everything he has experienced, nothing was the same. He had major PTSD and couldn’t escape it.
“Okay, I won’t. In fact, I’ll give you exactly what you want. Don’t talk or come anywhere near either Wesley or myself. To the both of us, you are dead and six-feet under. We are going to continue going to your grave, to grieve. Don’t like it? Maybe you should have thought about that before you ‘died’.”
Evelina then grabbed their suitcase handles and stormed past Wesley, who was still standing in the doorway.
“You love her, I can tell. Keep this where no one will find it, including Evelina. She can’t know about it. Get protection. That ring is more valuable then she even knows. It’s a matter of life-and-death for all of you. Trust no one,” Wesley ordered, handing Niall her old engagement ring and wedding band.
Evelina’s parents immediately recognized the car that was pulled up, and ran inside, only to bump into Evelina with a pissed off expression her face.
“Evelina-” her mom started.
“Did y’all know?” she said, tears streaming down her face.
“We found out two weeks ago,” her dad finished, making Evelina’s mom glare at him.
She then wiped her tears and loaded everything into the car.
“Hey, Evelina, your dead husband is alive and just showed up on our doorstep. Look! We took a picture!” Evelina yelled in a pissed and confused rage.
“Evela-” Wesley started, but stopped after seeing the glare that Evelina was sending his way.
“Evelina,” Wesley corrected, “don’t get mad at them. I told them not to tell you.”
“All I want to know is why. Why would you fake your death when it would have been so much easier to just leave? If you left, you might not have missed his life all together.”
As Wesley opened his mouth to explain everything, they all heard a small voice.
“Daddy!” Wesley the Third yelled, running and hugging Niall’s leg.
It made Wesley’s heart hurt, knowing that that would have been him if they hadn’t intervened.
“You missed that. He is as stubborn as you were, his favorite animal is a dinosaur, and his favorite color is red. Two days ago, he was told that he was cancer free after having it for months.”
The more Evelina said, the more Wesley’s heart felt like a part of him was missing… or maybe two parts.
Evelina didn’t care the reasoning behind him doing it. They made an adult decision together… why was she the only one who had to grow up and be an adult? Leaving was easier, but instead he married her and faked his death.
Angelina pulled up and immediately recognized the car, but was not about to say that she knew… she knew the whole time, including the funeral. No, it wasn’t because she was with him. She was going after what he had… somewhere.
Evelina immediately grabbed Wesley and started buckling him in as soon as she caught sight of Angelina. Niall noticed what she was doing, so he followed.
“Niall, remember what I gave you. Remember what I told you.”
Evelina didn’t hear that, but Angelina sure did.
Are Mom and Dad helping him?
The thought ran through Angelina’s mind, but she refused to believe it.
“So, what happened there?” Angelina asked, already knowing the answer.
“Not talking about it,” she said, looking back at Wesley.
They didn’t need to get involved with this. She didn’t want to either, but they owned her now.
“Isn’t there a reality TV show like this?” Angelina asked, joking with Evelina, trying to lighten the mood.
Evelina rolled her eyes, but a small chuckle escaped her chapped lips.
As they arrived at the airport, Evelina and Niall unpacked everything while Angelina said that she had to go to work, leaving as soon as they had everything.
Right as soon as they walked in, they spotted Rachel signing autographs and talking to a small group of girls.
Niall immediately put distance in between them right before the girls took notice.
Niall signed and talked to them with Rachel before they realized they had to go through security before the plane starts boarding.
While taking his suitcase from the car, he stuck the rings in a small pocket before continuing.
As they boarded the plane, Rachel paid the flight attendant to allow them to switch seats during the flight.
“So, something happened from the time you left the party to when you arrived at the airport,” Rachel said after the plane was in the air.
“It’s a long story,” Evelina whispered, hoping to not wake Wesley.
“Well, we got seven hours,” Rachel said, acting like she was making herself comfortable.
Evelina dived right into everything that happened. To the date she went on with Niall to her dead husband showing up on her parent’s doorstep.
“So, what made you change your mind and forgive him?” Rachel whispered.
“We both made mistakes. We both said things we wish we could take back. In all honesty, Rach, I would marry Niall in a heartbeat. If he got up and asked me right now, I would say yes… but postpone it a few years.”
Rachel giggled and nodded.
Niall hadn’t meant to eaves drop, but he was worried about her. Then when she said that marriage thing, guilt overtook his body.
He knew he had to tell her. They just got back together, he wasn’t gonna let it end because of her ex-husband that apparently isn’t dead.

Notes

Hello, everyone!
I updated and y'all didn't have to wait a week!
I'm seriously exhausted. Lol.
Don't expect an update tomorrow. I'm continuing my other story called The Enthralled Dream, so if y'all want to go read that I'm currently working on Chapter 4.
Thanks!
I love you guys. Y'all are awesome!
I put this in third person POV so I could capture everyone's thoughts in this... does that make sense? I had it originally written in Evelina's POV, but I wanted everybody's thoughts in it... so yeah. Here ya go!
Let me know what you think!
