Lavender & Roses

XXVI

I watched Sadie with curious eyes as she sat beside me in the car. Her eyes wandered over the landscape like she was lost in her own thoughts and not our surroundings. I'd never seen that dazed look on her face before. I returned my eyes to the road, not wanting the whole trip to end in a fiery mess.
I reached over to the stereo to turn on some music. I couldn't stand the silence in the car. I gave one more peek over at Sadie before deciding to bite the proverbial bullet and turn on her favorite band. I grinned when her eyes left the window. My smile quickly faded as she skipped the song I had turned on for her. She had flipped it to one of the darker songs. It wasn't one I knew well but it was one I knew she loved.
"Are you going to tell me what's going on?" I asked softly, once she started to sing along. Sadie ignored the question and turned the volume up just a little louder. My heart dropped just a bit when she sang along to the song about a romance gone bad due to the faults in one person. "Sadie, baby, will you please talk to me?" I raised my voice to be heard over the music.
"In a minute." She replied quickly. "I like his voice in this song." Sadie turned the dial on the volume once more before continuing to sing along. I sat quietly, letting her listen to her song. When she didn't turn the sound down after the song change, I knew she might need time to process whatever she needed to say to me. I reached over and grabbed her hand when I heard her strained voice as she sang with the new song. The rage that I now saw in her eyes was unsettling at best. I had no idea what I'd done or how to fix whatever had made her upset. Sadie squeezed my hand gently and wrapped her free hand around my wrist as we continued to drive with no sound but the radio and her singing along.

Sadie walked into the bedroom and threw her bag on the bed. I sighed and tried to think of the right thing to say. I sat down on the bed and waited for her to say something to me instead. I frowned as she continued to be silent and unpack her bags.
"Do you want me to wash your laundry too?" Sadie inquired without even looking at me.
"No. I want you to talk to me." I replied gruffly. Sadie lifted her eyebrow at me. "You've been oddly quiet since we got in the car." I stated softly. Sadie just shrugged and continued to gather the clothing from the bags. "Sadie, tell me what's going on." I asked again.
"Your mother hates me." Sadie spoke lowly, with a bit of an attitude.
"My mother does not hate you." I fought the urge to groan at her.
Sadie glared at me, "Yes. She. Does. Did you see the way she looked at me after you told her about me being sick. She HATES me."
"Sadie, we talked about this. Mum does not hate you. Is she worried? Yes. That's what Mums do, but I know for a fact that she doesn't hate you." I spoke firmly and with confidence.
"Pull the other one." Sadie scoffed at me. "You can defend your mum all you want. She doesn't like me." I fell back onto the bed with a groan and stared up at the ceiling. "Harry, I don't care if you defend your mum. She's your mum. But just don't lie to me." Sadie grumbled.
"I'm not! My mum likes you!" I shouted with irritation. "Just because she didn't fall at your feet like I did or Gemma. Hell! Even like Robin, but she likes you. I guaruntee, the next time you see her, things will be very different. You're the one who made it tense in the room. It's like you expected her to hate you and kick you out or something." I tried to remain as calm as possible. I didn't want a fight. Sadie rolled her eyes and walked out of the room with arms full of laundry. I covered my face and breathed in slowly, trying to ease my frustration.
"I have to go to a doctor's appointment today. Are you going to come with or are you going to stay here?" Sadie asked, reentering the room.
"I'll come with." I stated as I stood from the bed. Sadie nodded and grabbed her purse from the bed. I followed her out of the bedroom silently. It was going to be a long day if she was going to insist on being combative.

Sadie got into the car and slammed the door. I lifted my eyebrow at her as she folded her arms over her chest and began to pout like a child. I tried to choke back a laugh as I watched her sit with a sour look as I pulled out of the lot. We sat in silence until we reached the end of the road.
"How did it go, baby?" I asked, reaching for her hand. I didn't even get to touch her fingers before she started to yell and throw her hands in the air.
"Do they just give anyone a degree in this shit now?" Sadie shouted, fury in her eyes. I stifled another laugh as she started to rant about her doctor. "I mean, really, they make you take that damn test thing, look you dead in the eye afterward and say, "well, it looks like you're pretty depressed". YEAH! No shit, Sherlock! Why the fuck do think I'm here? Fuckin' idiot." Sadie complained. The more upset she became, the harder it was to understand her thickening accent. I kept my mouth closed and let her rant for the entire ten minute drive home.

I followed Sadie into her apartment as quiet as I had been all day. Sadie was still complaining about the doctor. I felt like she hadn't even stopped to take a breath. I ran my hand through my hair as I listened to her. She had to give up soon.
"The audacity of this woman, Harry!" Sadie grunted, turning to me as I leaned against the refrigerator with folded arms. "What?" She asked quickly when she noticed the stone expression on my face.
"You're just determined to be in a bad mood today." I informed her. Sadie's jaw dropped and she just stared at me. I chuckled, "You realize that you've been complaining and in a bad mood about everything all day?"
"Well, maybe people should stop pissing me off today." Sadie shot back as she got over her shock.
"Maybe you need to relax." I smirked. Sadie lifted her eyebrow at me. I wrapped my arms around her waist and pulled her against my body. I kissed her lips softly before hositing her up. I placed her on the counter, resting my fists beside her thighs. I gazed into her eyes, searching for any sign of desire. "Is there anything I can do to improve your mood?" I inquired with a twisted smirk. Sadie bit her lip and stayed silent. My lips hovered over hers as I spoke again, "Tell me, baby. What's gonna make you feel better?" Without any hesitation, Sadie slammed her mouth to mine. Sadie wound her arms around my neck and pulled me closer. I smiled into the kiss and lifted her from the counter top. I carried Sadie into the living room and collapsed on the sofa with her underneath me.

Sadie laid on the sofa shaking and stroking my hair as she stared into my eyes. I pressed my lips to her softly and smoothed my hand over her tender thigh gently. Sadie giggled into the kiss and backed away to cover her face.
"What?" I asked with a chuckle. Sadie shook her head and peeked at me for just a second. "Tell me." I pleaded.
"I don't know what to say or do after that." Sadie murmured. I lifted my eyebrow a bit. "I'm not used to being...treated like this." Sadie stated, a pink hue filling her cheeks.
I smiled at her warmly, "Inflate my ego and ask me to do it again." Sadie laughed loudly and pulled my face closer to hers. We kissed slowly but it was full of passion and lust. I knew she wanted more. A deafening knock on the door brought us out of our world. "Who is it?" I called out happily.
"Who do you think it is, ya cunt!" Louis' accent came through the door loud and clear.
"Shit." Sadie and I grunted at the same time. I quickly sat up and pulled my shirt on. "Go get yourself together, baby." I whispered, pecking Sadie on the lips gently. Sadie blushed and jumped off the couch, grabbing her jeans and panties, before running back to her bedroom. I stood gracefully and headed for the door. I peeked down the hall to see Sadie's door was shut. I booked it to the door and swung it open. "Hey guys." I smiled brightly at Louis, Liam and Niall. Liam and Louis happily made their way into the house but Niall took a moment. He eyed me carefully before crossing the threshold. "I just woke Sadie up after you knocked. She should be out soon. It's been a rough day for her I guess." I stated casually. I inhaled deeply and tried to be as calm as possible. I didn't know how long they had been standing in the hall and I wasn't keen on finding out either.

Notes

HEEEEEY!
It's actually a new, whole chapter! Woot! I know it's a little shaky but it's the first one back. I can take the shit for it.

I know I've been saying that I'm gonna delete this but I changed my mind (you better thank Sarah for it)
I'm gonna finish this story. I swear it will get done. Even if it takes me another six months to get it done, I will get it done. I'm playing with the time line a bit and some events to make it work so it can be finished. Please, be patient with me, I do work a lot and I have a lot going on medically. But I PROMISE, I will finish this story for you guys. (Please, feel free to throw this back in my face later on if needed).
Also, new Niall story out now, please check it out if you haven't already, called Unsuspecting Sunday Afternoon. New chapter of In Too Deep coming soon (hopefully the next couple of days). Also we're starting a Liam story here because the idea has been pestering me for nearly 2 years. I'll let you know when that's up. It's going to be exclusive to this site like this story is (no wattpad posting for it).

Peace&Love
