Behind the glasses
Chapter 3
"Alli, I didn't mean..." but it was too late. I get up and make my way to the doble door on the other side of the cafeteria. It was the summer of the 5th grade, when I met Naill. He lived a few blocks over, and we never overlapped much. Then, that summer, I went to a party at Mary's, and that'swhen it happened. One of the jocks decided to spike the punch and I found out too late. While Madilyn's brother tried to take advantage of my drunk state, Naill showed up to defend me. Then, he took me to a room so I could lie down and sat with me to make sure nothing happened. When I woke up, he was there, watching me, and the first thing he said was "you're beautiful." My nimble finger twist my lock's combination so fast, that it seems like a second nature. I look at the picture of me and Naill on Prom Night. Him in his elegant black tuxedo and me in my floor lenght silver dress. My eyes shining an electric blue. My eyes are naturally gray/blue, but after becoming Alli, I put on green contacts so no comparison would ever be made. Naill's words ring in my head. " I'd know those beautiful eyes anywhere, Allison". I close my locker door a bit too hard, attracting attention from the nearby cluster of girls. "Uh....Freak." Madilyn says snorting laughter afterwards. "I've heard worse from better people". I say. She stops laughing. "What did you say?" "Oh, so you're deef as well as cliche?" I ask, innocently. She scoffs and returns to gossiping and hairspray application. I walk away. That's my life.
