The New Boy

I sat there for, what seemed like years, hours waiting for a nurse, a doctor, Harry, anyone. Please.

They rolled Harry's bed back in the room. He looked worse then before. "Is he gonna be okay?" I asked.

The doctor looked at him then at me. He let out a small sigh. "I'm sorry to say this but," he started. Oh god. Please, please, please, please. "He won't live for much longer. A month at most. There's nothing we can do. I'm so sorry." He apologized before walking out.

I ran over to Harry's bed. "Harry. Harry please wake up." I sobbed. "Please!" I almost yelled. I fell on my knees. "Please Harry. You can't do this to me. Please. You can't do this to Caitlin. You can't do that to your son. Please Harry, please." I begged. He groaned and moved his head towards mine. He fluttered his green eyes open and looked at me.

"What's going on?" He asked. I let out a small breath of relief that he woke up.

"The doctors said you won't live for much longer. A month at most." I whispered.

"Really?" He asked. I nodded. I crashed my lips to his. He hummed quietly. I moved my hand to his hair. "I love you so much." He whispered.

"I love you more then you can even imagine." I say and mean it. I can't imagine life without him, but I guess I'm gonna have to live in one.

"I'm so sorry." He started to cry. "I'm sorry for everything I've ever put you threw. I never meant to hurt you. I love you and I don't want to ever hurt you. I'm sorry." He repeated.

"I forgive you." Was all he really needed to hear right now. I wiped the tears that stained his face. He groaned and winced. "Is something wrong?" I asked.

"No I'm fine." He whispered and bit his lip.

"What hurts?" I panicked.

"My chest." He groaned again.

"Do you want me to get someone?" I asked and got up.

"Come here before you go." His voice was barely audible. I walked over to him and he kissed me hard. "I love you. Don't ever forget that." He slightly smiled.

"I love you too." I sobbed.

"Goodbye." He said.

"No Harry. I'm gonna go get someone. You'll be fine." I reassured both of us.

"No we've bothered them enough. There's nothing they can do to save me. No one can." His voice was getting quieter and quieter.

"No please." I sobbed and grabbed his hand.

"I'm sorry. I can't do this any longer." He said.

I opened my mouth but all that came out were sobs. "You'll be okay. I love you" He smiled.

"I love you too." I said. I knew that this was coming but I wasn't ready to accept that fact. I put my hand on his face. He closed his eyes and leaned his face into my hands. I waited for him to open his eyes but I knew that moment wouldn't come when I heard that beep. The beep that everyone fears to hear when they're in a hospital room with the person you love the most.

Harry's POV

This is the hardest thing I've ever had to do. Look into her beautiful eyes that were full of tears and hurt and love. All for me. I love this woman more then anything in the world and it killed me, literally. I knew this would happen. Deep down I always knew I was gonna die since I found out. I tried and I tried but sometimes it doesn't matter how hard you try. It's left up to fate. When she touched my face I closed my eyes and I just wanted to focus on her touch. I didn't mean to go. I wish I could've stayed. I wanted to see my son. I wanted to see my daughter one last time. My mom, Zayn, damn it even Liam. But sadly, that wasn't fate.
