The New Boy

I fluttered my eyes open. The curtains were pulled open bringing light into the dark hospital room. I looked around and Louis was sitting on the chair. "Hey." He said and walked over to me. He sat down on the bed. "You feeling okay?" He asked. I slightly nodded my head. "Good. Then what the fuck were you thinking?" He yelled. I jumped a little. "I don't know." I whispered. He sighed and looked down. "You have no idea how lucky you are that I found you." He mumbled. "Well maybe I didn't want you to find me. Maybe I wanted to die." I pointed out. "I know that you're going through a tough time but you can't just end it. That's not the answer." He said. "It might not have been the answer but it was my choice. I wanted to die so you should've let me die." I sighed. "Where's Harry?" I asked. "He's in his own room. It's a couple doors down. I'll get him over here." He said and got up.

"Katie." Harry whispered. I looked up at him. He ran towards me and hugged me tight. "So you were just gonna kill yourself and leave me all alone?" He mumbled in my hair. "I'm sorry. I can't take this shit anymore." I cried. He pulled back to look at me. "My parents, my brother, my family they're gone. They're all gone. Then I can't play basketball because I broke my god damn foot. Then I literally get kicked in the face. I'm tired of always getting hurt. I'm not that strong. I can't do this anymore. Life is shit and I don't want it anymore. Take it from me please." I sobbed. Harry looked down at the bed. "I'm sorry baby. I really am. I wish I could help you." He whispered. "You can help me by killing me. This is the only way to make it better. People say life gets better and waist but it doesn't. It just gets worse and worse and you just get older and older till you die." I said. "I'm not gonna kill you. I can't let you go. You are the only keeping me alive. If you die then I die. I love you too much to let you die. You are smart, talented and beautiful. You could do so many things with your life but instead you just die. That would be stupid and a giant waste of time. You went through all of this shit to just die. You go through shit to become someone, to do something." He smiled. I nodded my head. "I'm sorry." I whispered. "Please just promise me that you won't do it again. Please." He begged. I nodded my head. "I promise." I smiled. "Is your lip better?" He asked. I shrugged my shoulders. "We'll see. Tell me if this hurts." He smiled and leaned in slowly. He kissed me gently.

He pulled back after a minute. "I love you." I smiled. "I love you too." He whispered. He grabbed my arm and looked at the bloody bandage that was wrapped around my wrist. "They need to change it." He said. "I'm gonna go get a nurse." He smiled and kissed my nose before walking out. Liam Zayn and Louis walked in. "Hey Katie how you feeling?" Liam smiled. "Fantastic." I said sarcastically. He gave me a hug. "Hey Katie cat." Zayn smiled and hugged me too. "Hey." I mumbled. Harry came back in with the nurse. "Where's Johanna?" I wondered. "She's coming with the girls. She had to pick them up from marks house." Louis explained. I nodded my head. The nurse took the bandage off of my wrist. "It looks infected. What cut it?" She asked. "A pair of scissors." I mumbled. She got a sponge out. She got out bucket of what looks like water. She dipped the sponge in it and put it on my wrist. I hissed at the pain. Harry ran over to me and grabbed my hand. "It's okay baby." He whispered.

The nurse cleaned up my cut before wrapping it back up. She left after that. Harry cuddled with me. "I'm hungry. I want barbaque chicken pizza." I whined. "Okay, I'll go get it. Do you guys wanna come with me?" Zayn said. "Someone needs to stay." Louis said. "I'll stay." Liam smiled. I smiled at him. Everyone else left. "Not to go back down this road but why Katie?" Liam asked. I sighed and looked down. "I feel out of place. I feel different from everyone else. I feel like I don't belong and no one really likes me. People say that they do but I don't feel like they mean it. And now that my family is gone I can't get a job or anything, I feel like I have steal from everyone. I just feel like a burden to people." I admitted. He looked down. "You're not a burden. You are a fucking blessing. Your smart, pretty, funny, your good at basketball. Your amazing. If you left then what do you think Harry would do? What do you think Louis would do? I know that you and aren't that close and you're not that close to Zayn eithe but we still love you. We don't want to loose you." He smiled. "I want someone to cuddle with. Come here." I smiled. He walked over to the bed and got in with me. I hugged him tight. "Thank you. That's the best don't kill yourself speech." I mumbled.

We talked a little bit more before the boys got back. They set the pizza down on the rolly table. "Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear Katie. Happy birthday to you." The all sang. "It's my birthday?" I asked. "Yeah it's September 13." Louis smiled. "Oh yeah. Well thank you." I laughed. "Happy birthday baby." Harry smiled and kissed me. I grabbed a piece of pizza and took a bite before putting it on a plate. "Thanks guys." I smiled. "I have a present for you but you have to wait until mom gets here." Louis said. "You'll get your present later." Harry whispered. "You guys don't have to get me anything." I smiled. "Well too bad." Liam smiled. He handed me a box. I unwrapped it and it was a jewelry box. It had a good bracelet in it. "Oh my gosh. Is it actually gold?" I squealed. "Yeah. My sister helped me pick it out." Liam smiled. I hugged him tight. "Thank you so much." I mumbled. "I got you a present too." Zayn said. "What is it?" I asked. "It's in my car. I'll be right back." He smiled and left.

"Hey Katie. Are you okay?" Johanna asked when she walked in with her army of children. "Yeah I'm fine." I smiled. "Happy birthday." Dorris smiled and walked over to me. She sat down next to me. "Thank you." I said and hugged her. "Why are you in the hospital?" Daisy asked. "I hurt my arm." I sighed. She nodded her head. "Excuse me. Are you her mother?" A nurse asked Johanna. "Yeah." She smiled. The nurse pulled Johanna out of the room. Zayn came in with a guitar. I gasped. "Zayn you didn't!" I smiled. He handed it to me. "I did." He said and hugged me. "Thank you so much." I whispered. He pulled back. "Try it out." He smiled. I started playing a song that I wrote called fools gold. "That's really good." Harry smiled. "Thanks." I mumbled.

Johanna came in after a couple minutes. "You ready for your present?" Louis asked. I nodded my head. Johanna handed me a piece of paper. I started reading it. "No way." I looked up at them. They smiled at me. "This has to be a joke. No way." I smiled. "For real." Louis smiled. "What?" Harry asked. "I got in!" I screamed and hugged Louis and Johanna. "Got in where?" He wondered. "The college I want to go to." I laughed. "You got a full ride there. You have four free years." Johanna smiled. "I didn't apply yet though." I mumbled. "I applied you early so there would be a better chance of you getting in." Louis said. I hugged him tight. "I love you so much. Thank you." I whispered. He kissed my cheek. "No problem Katie cat." He smiled.

"Harry what'd you get me?" I wondered. "You'll get it when you get out." He whispered on my lips. "is it sex?" I asked. He shook his head. "Should I be scared?" I laughed. He shook his head again. "You're gonna love it." He said. "Guys can you all leave me and Katie alone?" Johanna asked. Harry kissed me before leaving. Everyone left and Johanna sat down on a chair next to the bed. I laid down on my side so I was facing her. "What's up?" I smiled. "I don't want you to act like this never happened. You tried to kill yourself." She sighed. "I know I'm sorry." I apologized. "It's okay. Do you need help?" She asked. "Like from a therapist or something?" I wondered. She nodded her head. "No I don't trust them." I quickly said. "I don't want you to do or think about this ever again. If there's something I can do I will do it. Anything. I love you like you are my own child. I really don't want you to die. Please." She cried. I nodded my head. "I promise I won't ever do it again." I promised her. She hugged me tight. "I'm sorry." I whispered. She pulled back. "Well it's getting late. I need to get home and put everyone to bed. Hope you had a good birthday." She smiled and wiped away her tears. "I did. Thank you so much." I said. We said our goodbyes and she left. All the boys came back in.

"I'm gonna go home." Zayn yawned. "Happy birthday Katie cat. Love you." He mumbled as he hugged me. "Love you too." I whispered. He left. "I'm gonna go too. Love ya. Happy birthday." Liam said and left too. "Can one of you guys stay with me?" I asked Harry and Louis. "Yeah. I'll stay." Louis smiled. "Okay. Bye baby. Love you so much. Hope you had a great birthday." He whispered on my lips. He kissed me gently. "Love you too." I smiled. He kissed my nose before leaving. "So did you have a good birthday?" He asked. "As much as I could in a hospital room." I laughed. I picked up the guitar and started playing Photograph by Ed Sheeran. Louis and I sang with each other.

"So are you and Eleanor a thing?" I asked randomly. "Yeah we've been talking a lot but I haven't asked her out. I don't know if she likes me tha.." He started. "She does." I interupted. "What?" He laughed. "She likes you. Ask her out you pussy." I joked. "Okay I'll do it on Monday." He sighed. "What happened with Zayn and that one girl?" I wondered. "Perrie. Yeah they're dating now." He smiled. "Anything with Liam?" I asked. He shook his head. "You should get some sleep." Louis yawned. I nodded my head. "Come over here. I don't want you sleeping in the uncomfortable chair." I smiled. Louis came over and got in bed with me. "Good I like to have something to cuddle with." I mumbled into his chest. "Happy birthday. Love you." Louis whispered. "Love you too." I smiled. I fell asleep quickly.
