Chapter 29: What's going on with us?
Omniscient POV
Jessa sat on the beach alone while everyone else tested how far they could go into the water before chickening out. Alex was the farthest, up to his belly button with Harry as a close second. She laughed at them while a hidden feeling of uneasiness ate away at her. Zayn kept looking back from the beach at her with a confused look on his tanned face. He decided to give up on the water and go back to her.
“Wuss!” “Wimp!” “P*ssy!” Were only a few of the names that were directed at him, all in kidding.
Zayn brushed them off and jogged toward Jessa before sitting down next to her. He sat a few inches away so his shorts wouldn’t touch her. Neither of them said anything while Zayn wrapped his arms around his knees. Feelings were attacking both of them but neither of them knew how to say them. Jessa was getting tired of the tension so she had a plan.
“What’s going on with us? You wouldn’t talk to me for almost a week, we haven't had a real conversation since we got back and you aren’t acting normal. I cant stand this anymore.” Jessa blurted it all out.
“I don’t know. I don’t know what to say to you.” Zayn was looked at her as she turned to face him.
“I cant do this, I hate the silence between us. Zayn, I love you.” She knew there was no other way to say it.
Zayn’s jaw feel agape as her cheeks blushed. Jessa dropped her head as tears burned her eyes.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that.” She stood up and started to walk away but Zayn was following quickly.
He reached out and grabbed her hand, gently pulling her back to him. She was now facing him, tears staining her cheeks.
“I love you too.” He leaned down and kissed her forehead. “I have for a while, that’s why I didn't talk to you. It scared me to realize how much one person could mean to me.” Zayn was being completely honest with her as their eyes met. “You have taken over my heart.”
“Same with you.” Her voice was almost a whisper. “Can we just try to take it slow? I’m still getting used to this whole situation, it’s just weird for me.”
“Same for me.” Zayn had to agree because she was right.
Her eyes fell to the sand below them. Zayn’s hand found it’s way to her chin, lifting it slightly so their eyes met again. He leaned down and kissed her lightly.
“I’ll do anything for you Jessa.” He whispered back to her before kissing her forehead again. “I love you.”
“I love you too.”
