The Bently Mansion


I sighed before knocking on the Bently Mansion’s door and mentally calmed myself. Like, why am I even here?

I scoffed at myself and the door slowly opened. It was Penelope, and she looked at me with a confused expression, “Okay, look. Before you say anything, I just want to say that I am sorry. None of this should have happened, and I really am sorry.”

Then without warning, she grabbed my arm and pulled me into the house. Before I could speak again, she pulled me in for a long hug, “You’re the one who got played. So I’m sorry.”

“Yeah well… I’m trying to forget about it,” I forced a smile and she gave me a real one, “I came here to talk to you about the wedding… And I still want to be your maid of honor if you’ll let me.”

“Of course!” she squeaked and I laughed a little, “Come on, let’s go to the garden and talk. I have found it extremely peaceful out there.” She grabbed my hand and pulled me across the house and outside towards the garden.

“So where is your family? Gina?” I asked and she sighed.

“They went back to wherever they came from. Not coming back until the wedding,” she sighed again, “It’s only me and Harry.” It’s only Penelope and Harry.

“Haley?” My heart skipped at the thought of her leaving or being fired. I loved the woman. She was amazing. But before Penelope could say anything, someone grabbed my hand and I turned around to see Haley.

“Hey!” She chirped and I hugged her tightly.

“I missed you girl.” I giggled and she nodded her head.

“I missed you too Anastasia. But listen, I’ll have to talk to you later because Headmaster Styles needs me. I’ll see you then.” She smiled and then hurried off into the house.

“You should let him know you’re here,” Penelope muttered beside me and I looked at her like she was crazy.

“Before I leave.” I laughed a little and she whined.

“You mean you’re not staying?” she whined again and I shook my head.

“No. I can’t stay. I don’t have any clothes.” We began to walk again and she sighed.

“You could get someone to bring you some clothes,” she grabbed my arm and I slowly pulled it from her, “At least come to dinner with us.”

“Us?” I asked and she nodded her head.

“Yeah. Harry and I were going to dinner tonight, but I insist on you coming,” she smiled and I looked back to the last time all three of us were at a table alone. “Won’t that be fun?” she squeaked again and I looked at her, “Please, Ana?”

“I guess…” I smirked and she jumped up and down. I looked up to the sky and she smiled.

“Looks like it’s getting pretty dark soon. I’m going to go pick out my dress for this evening,” she smiled again and looked at me, “You coming with?”

“I think I’ll stay out here for a few more minutes. I want to see when the sky first appears.” I smiled and she nodded her head and walked into the mansion.

I walked past the Bently gym, and then I walked towards the pond. There were some good memories on this pond, and I seriously doubt I’ll forget them… I sat down underneath a tree by the pond and laid my head back on the trunk. A cool breeze blew past me and I shivered.

“Are you cold?” Someone asked, and I was afraid of was hearing things so I just ignored it, “Here.” I felt somebody lifting me up and a jacket was put around my shoulders, making me tense completely. I opened my eyes and looked to my left to see Harry.

“Hello,” I gave a small smile and he crawled underneath the tree beside me.

“Why didn’t you tell me you were here? I had to get Haley to tell me.” He seemed upset and I looked down.

“I wanted to tell you before I left, so you wouldn’t keep me any longer than I wanted to stay.” I looked to him and he sighed, leaning his head on the trunk.

“Well, you’re not leaving now, are you?” he asked and looked back at me.

“No. Penelope wants me to go to dinner with the two of you.” I groaned and laid my hand on the ground. You aren’t playing anybody, Styles. I can feel your hand getting closer to mine.

I smiled.

“Are you coming with us?” he chirped and I laughed a little.

“Yeah, I told Penelope I would so… I guess I am.” I pursed my lips and his pinky finger slid over mine, making me look to our hands.

“Well I’m glad your coming with us.” I felt him smiling and he brought his knees up to his chest, his pinky sliding over my fourth finger. I bit my lip and closed my eyes. Sometimes I want to hate myself for feeling this way around you Harry. I can’t have these feelings… “Aren’t you glad?” he asked, his voice was closer to my ear than before and I let out a small shudder.

“I don’t know. I mean, I was hoping it would just be Penelope and I so we could talk to each other.” My eyes were still closed and my heart was still beating faster―his hand landed directly on top of mine. Don’t over exaggerate, Ana. He’s held your hand before. But it feels different whenever you don’t want it to happen.

I opened my eyes and we were shoulder to shoulder, hand to hand, ankle to ankle. I wanted to shoot myself, and roll into this lake. He was making my heart beat so damn fast just by a single touch.

“How long are you staying?” his perfect lips formed words. His lips met mine once before, and his lips kissed me endlessly. But his lips also told many lies, and his lips smiled right through them.

“I don’t know. I think I might leave tonight after I go to dinner with you.” His thumb ran back and forth over mine and I controlled my breathing.

“You know I want you to stay longer than that, right?” his fingers curled in between mine, and I seriously could not take this any longer.

I pulled my hand from his and stood up, “I’m going to get dressed. Penelope might have a dress for me to borrow or something.” I let out a deep breath and he clasped his hands together and rested his head back on the trunk of the tree.

“You’re running away from me, Miss Greene,” he smirked and I swallowed, “That just gives me a better reason to chase you.”

“Well, I.. Um. I’m going in the house,” I stuttered quickly and walked behind the tree, relaxing a little more the more steps I took.

“Vous êtes le seul à tenir mon coeur,” I heard him say and I quickly ran away and into the house.

“So, are you having fun?” Penelope appeared in front of me and I screamed, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.”

“Yeah. Can I borrow a dress from you? Tonight?” I asked, breathing hard.

“Are you serious?” she clapped and motioned for me to follow her. I walked past a few rooms, then all of a sudden my arm was grabbed and my eyes met with Harry’s.

“Harry. Please let me go,” I muttered and he smiled.

“But why would I do that? I’m so glad that you’re back, Anastasia,” he whispered and I bit my lip.

“Ana? Are you coming?” Penelope called for me and my heart began to race a million miles as Harry locked fingers with mine.

“I still have that effect on you…” he was hovering over me and I closed my eyes.

“Ana?” Penelope called me again and I knew she was walking down the hallway.

I quickly pulled away from Harry and ran my fingers through my hair, “You can run, but I’ll catch you, Anastasia Greene.” Harry winked and then walked away.

“Come on,” Penelope said to me and I watched Harry as he smiled to himself and disappeared down the hallway.

Idec right now that the chapters are on an odd number. I'm too disappointed in myself to update again.
