Being wrong isn't always a bad thing
Alex’s POV
“That was delicious.” Louis had his arm around my shoulder as we walked down dock.
“Yea.” I nodded and looked down at my feet.
Why is he acting weird? Maybe its just him being nervous about this date.
We walked in comfortable silence until we reached the end of the dock. I sat down and watched Louis sit down next to me. We were facing each other, my ankles were crossed next to his hip and his legs were crossed.
“It’s so nice out here.” I looked up at the starry sky and leaned my weight on my hands behind me.
“Mhm” He hummed.
That’s his giveaway, when he hums an answer I know something’s wrong. I don’t know what it is but now I know.
“What’s up Louis?” He shrugged and shook his head at my question. “You know I know you better than that.”
“There’s a lot that I missed out on since I’ve been gone…a lot of time and memories that I couldn’t make because I was gone.” The words stumbled out of his mouth. “Maybe we’d be closer if I hadn’t left.”
“Yea, you missed out on memories and other stuff but if you hadn’t gone, you wouldn’t know the guys or have any of the memories you have of the last 2 ½ years.” I looked at him and read his expression as confused. “If you didn't leave me behind and go follow your dreams, you wouldn’t be who you are today.”
“True but we’d probably be closer if I hadn’t left.” He looked down at the water as he spoke.
“Yea maybe but look at us now. I’m fulfilling my dream of traveling the world with my best friend and we’re together while you're on tour. I wouldn’t change anything about this.” I scooted a little closer to him and set my hand on his knee.
He took a deep breath and nodded in agreement. I watched him run his fingers through his hair, disheveling it.
“I love you.” He blurted it out, the look on his face showed that even he was surprised.
“You do?” I asked after my breath was knocked out by his words..
“Yea, I have since that day I came off stage and found you waiting for me. I didn't realize it until we were with your family.” His blue eyes looked into mine as a smile spread on my lips.
“I love you too Louis.” I said it with tears in my eyes.
He was smiling at me when he moved closer. I was still in shock when he set his cupped my cheeks with one hand and kissed me slowly. When we pulled back our eyes met and we both smiled.
“I never thought that we’d be this close after I left.” He was still holding my cheek. “But I’m happy that I was wrong.”
“Me too.” I leaned into his hand a little bit.
