Zayn’s POV
The music had a fast beat and Alex had her back pressed to my chest, you could say I was enjoying myself. My hands were resting on her hips while our hips swayed together. She turned around and looked at me with a devious glint in her eyes.
“You look really nice tonight.” Her words were kind of mumbled.
“Thanks.” I smiled. “You look hot.” I looked down at her tight fitting skirt and low cut top.
“Thank you.” She blushed leaning up to kiss me. “Can we go sit down?”
“Sure.” I grabbed her waist and led her to the table.
Alex’s POV
“Remember when we were learning to kiss?” Louis asked drunkenly with a chuckle.
“Yea.” I mumbled looking at Liam who was confused. “We taught each other to kiss.”
“Oh.” Something clicked for him.
“Wait,” Niall started, he was drunk so it took him a minute, “If-If you guys weren’t like brother and sister, you guys would make a great couple.” He stuttered as Zayn rested his arm around Niall’s shoulders.
“Yea, I could see it.” Harry mumbled from our other side.
Louis and I looked at each other and shook our heads. When we were younger, we used to kiss and stuff but nothing more than friends. I mean yea, we always flirted and had crushes on each other but we knew it would ruin our friendship so we kept it as just friends.
“I cant.” I looked down at Louis’s drink and grabbed it. “Can I?”
“Sure.” He shrugged while I took a drink of it. “And I cant see us together either.”
“Well not know of course, when we were younger we did.” I laughed setting the drink down again.
“Oh yea, I wanted to get into your pants.” He was obviously smashed by how blunt he was being.
“You did?!” Harry seemed so surprised.
“Yea but she wouldn’t let me.” Louis pouted.
“Why wouldn’t you?” Harry was starting the personal questions.
“Because we were like 16 and he wasn’t exactly quiet about who he got with.” I looked at Harry and then at Louis.
“So wait, if I kept my mouth shut, you woulda let me?” Louis looked really eager like he had an idea.
“Yea, probably.” I shrugged, oh great the alcohol is kicking in.
“Would you still?” Harry asked it before Louis could.
“No.” They looked surprised by my answer. “First of all, we were kinds. Second, YOU’RE MY BEST FRIEND. And third, you aren’t my type.”
“I’m not your type?” He looked hurt.
“Nope.” I shook my head and took another drink of his drink.
“Who is?” Liam asked loudly.
“Zayn of course.” Niall pointed to Zayn who looked surprised. “Am I right? ‘Cause she’s your type.”
“Yea kinda.” I shrugged.
“So you're gonna pick bad boy over me?” Louis looked genuinely hurt by this. “That’s stupid.” He got up and walked away.
“What just happened?” I looked around at everyone; I wasn’t the only one who was confused.
“I have no clue but you should go check on him.” Liam was the only one to answer me.
I stood up from the table and walked in the direction he did. Walking through the crowd of drunken, horny people was tough but I did it and finally made it to him. He was sitting on the back stairs leading to outside, he was completely alone until I sat down next to him.
“Louis, what’s going on?” I looked over at him but he had his face in his hands.
“I don’t know.” He paused to sit up. “Ever since you came back into my life, I don’t know what’s going on. I don’t even get it. We’ve always been close and used to flirt all the time and yea I wanted to get with you but I’ve never felt like this for you…” He looked at me with a tear in his eye.
“What’re you saying Louis?” I had a pretty good idea of what he meant but I had to hear him say it.
“Alex, I want to be with you. More than friends, more than anything we’ve been before. You’re all I want.” He blurted it out as the tear slipped from his eye.
“Then why are you crying?”
“Because what I’m feeling might mess up our friendship and I don’t want to lose you.” More tears fell from his eyes while my hands cupped his cheeks.
“You wont lose me Louis. I’ve been here through everything and I’m not going anywhere.” I wiped his cheeks dry while I thought of what to say. “I ju-“
“I know that you like Zayn, it’s okay.” He still looked hurt.
“I do like Zayn but…you’ve always had my heart.” It was cheesy but true.
“Are you serious?”
“Yea. You were my king when we were little, my secret in middle school, my hero in high school and my best friend through it all.” I smiled thinking back to all those times.
“But…what about Zayn?” He looked sad again.
“Zayn is a crush, I don’t even think it would work, we’re too different.” I knew that it wouldn’t last with Zayn.
“Oh.” He took a deep breath, still looking at me. “What does this mean for us?”
“I don’t know, I need to think about it.” I let go of his face. “Can I just have some time?”
“Sure.” He smiled and stood up before reaching down to help me up too.
“Thanks.” I smiled and fixed my skirt.
“You're welcome.” We looked into each others eyes again. “Are we okay?”
“Of course trouble maker.” I laughed poking his chest.
“Good, my angel.” He smiled and turned me around to go back to the group.
