Reunited at last!
Alex’s POV
The lights dimmed and the crowd got quiet as the blonde boy with bright blue eyes looked down at his feet. I watched him while he nervously cleared his throat and looked at the tall, curly haired boy who was looking out at the crowd. They both looked nervous but they had smiles on their faces. A laugh rang from the shorter boy next to the curly haired boy, making both of them set off in chuckles.
“Thank you all for coming, we love you all!” The blonde boy waved and followed the other boys off stage and toward me. “Who’s the pretty girl?” He asked looking back at the curly haired boy.
“No clue.” They both shrugged, smiled at me and kept walking.
The shorter boy that was next to him walked toward me. His eyes scanned my body but stopped on my face as my lips curled into a smile. I watched his eyes widen and jaw dropped.
“Alex?” He asked standing less than two feet in front of me now.
“Hey Louis.” My stomach was exploding with butterflies.
“Wha- why- How did you get here?” His words were jumbled.
“Your mom sent me an early birthday present.” I held up the backstage pass that was hanging around my neck. “She said it’d be a gift for both of us.” They always did stuff like that; since we’d became friends, we always had gifts together because we shared a birthday.
“Of course.” He sighed quietly and then looked into my eyes. “It’s been such a long time. I cant believe you're here.” He wrapped his arms around the small of my back and pulled me into his body.
I smiled to myself and clung to him. He picked me up and swirled me around making a giggle escape from my chest. When he finally set me down and let go of me, his band mates were staring at us curiously.
“Guys, this is Alex. Alex, this is Liam, Niall, Zayn and Harry.” He pointed to each of them.
“Hi” I smiled shyly and looked at them.
“So, do you go by Alex or Lexi or what?” The blonde boy, Niall, asked bluntly.
“Uh, either Alex or Lexi, I really don’t care. They're both nicknames for Alexandria so whatever sounds better to you.” I shrugged.
He nodded and then looked around at the other boys; the curly haired boy, Harry, was looking at me body. I guess it was a bad idea to wear skinny jeans and a crop top. I wont forget that. Great, now they're all looking at my body.
“Well, it’s nice to meet you.” The nice guy with reddish eyes said shyly. “I’m gonna go change.” That was Liam.
“Yea, me too.” Niall and Harry mumbled.
“Don’t leave, okay? We need to go catch up.” Louis touched my arm.
“Okay.” I shrugged as he walked away too, leaving just me and Zayn.
“Ho-How do you know Louis?” He stuttered shoving his hands into his front pockets.
“He moved into the house next to mine when I was 4 and he was 6.” I was rambling, our ages weren’t important. “And we’ve been best friends since then.”
“That's cool. Oh, I’m Zayn by the way.” He looked into my eyes making me notice the gold coloring of his.
“It’s nice to meet you.” I smiled at him involuntarily.
“Yea, you too.” His words were numb, emotionless as we stared into each others eyes. “So, where’re you from?”
“I was born in Doncaster but now I live here.” I knew he was from Bradford so there was no point in asking.
“Guys?” Louis’s voice interrupted our eye contact. “Zayn, you might want to change before we go. And Alex, do you want to go back to the hotel with us or do you want to where ever you're staying?”
“Uhm, I’ll go with you guys. I don’t really want to go home.” I knew my roommate wasn't home so there was no reason to go home anyways.
“You live here?” Surprise was heavy in his voice as Zayn walked away.
“Yea, I moved out here like 6 months after you left. A lot happen, it’s a long story.” I really didn't want to have this conversation backstage of a concert.
“Okay, we can talk about that later.” He walked over to me. “I’ve missed you so much.”
“I missed you too.” I pulled him into a hug, his arms rested on the small of my back.
“Actually, can we stay at your place tonight? If I just come over the press will make it look bad but I really want to hangout with you.” We pulled back from the hug but didn't completely let go of each other.
“Sure.” I smiled knowing we would probably stay up all night talking.
“Thanks Lex, I just need to go tell our manager. You can go back there with the guys if you want to.” He kissed my cheek and walked away.
Louis left for the X-Factor 3 years ago and I missed his terribly. Having my best friend leave me for his dreams was nice but I never thought that he would be gone for 3 years. I was happy just to be here, with him.
I walked over to the dressing area and around the barrier; Harry and Zayn were standing about 2 feet away without shirts on. They looked up at me, scanned over my body, gave each other a slight smile and then looked into my eyes.
“Ugh” I mumbled to myself.
“What? You cant expect us not to look.” Harry pointed toward my body while his eyes did the same. “I mean, come on.”
“Whatever.” I rolled my eyes and sat on the counter while Zayn picked up the shirt that was next to me.
“So, how old are you?” Harry moved closer to me as Zayn pulled the shirt on..
“You ask such creepy questions.” Zayn laughed to himself.
“But they’re important questions and you know it.” Harry winked at Zayn and then looked at me. “So, how old are you?”
“19” I answered quietly.
“Aye! She’s legal!” Harry reached his hand up fro a high-five with Zayn but Zayn just shook his head.
“That’s so wrong man.” Zayn dropped his head and walked away. “Sorry about him, he just doesn’t know when to shut up.”
“It’s okay.” I shrugged looking into his eyes.
“But it’s not, you’re like Louis’s little sister. He shouldn’t be hitting on you like that, at least he could be classy about it. Or just not do it.”
“I seriously don’t care, he can do whatever he wants, I’m kinda used to it.” I really was, a lot of guys that hit on me were jerks.
“Okay.” He shrugged and looked around.
Louis was standing a few feet away with Liam, Niall and Harry. I hopped off the counter and walked over to them with Zayn following close behind me. Louis looked at me with a smile before draping his arm over my shoulders and looking up at Harry who was still looking at my body.
“Guys, we’re staying at Alex’s place tonight.” Louis announced.
“Sweet!” Niall and Harry cheered.
“Do we need to get a car or will yours fit all of us?” Liam asked looking down at his phone.
“My car will fit everyone.”
“Okay, grab your bags guys and let’s go!” Louis was so enthusiastic, it reminded me of when we were kids.
Everyone grabbed their bag while I waited by the door and called my roommate but of course, she didn't answer. I left a message and hung up with a sigh.
“You okay?” Niall asked leaning his back against the wall.
“Yea.” I looked up at him as he dropped his bag on the floor with a faint ‘thud’.
“Okay good.” He smiled at me. “So, how long have you and Lou been friends?”
“Like 15 years. Holy crap, I feel so old.” I touched my cheeks and shook my head. “Wow.”
“You aren’t that old, how old are you?”
“19…” I answered shyly.
“I’m 19, you're not that old.” He smiled at me and touched my arm. “And by the way, I want to apologize for Harry and Zayn in advance. They're probably gonna do something really stupid and make you feel awkward, that’s what they do best.”
“Thanks Niall.” I giggled.
“I know you're like a sister to Louis so you're one to me too.” He slipped his hands into his back pockets. “So, I’m gonna do what he would do.”
“Thank you.” I smiled up at him.
“You're welcome.” He shrugged.
Louis and the rest of the gang walked over to us. Harry and Niall walked ahead of us and behind the guards out to the car. I took the driver’s seat and Louis sat next to me while the other guys piled into the back 2 rows of the car. Louis took control of the radio for the rest of the ride home.
