End Of The Day

I’m completely frantic when I get home. I’m trying to choose the perfect outfit for tonight. I settle on a blue lace dress. I try to quickly, yet skillfully apply my makeup. Louis is sending a car for me and it should be here any moment.

When we arrive at the restaurant the driver walks me to the entrance. Inside, the host escorts me to the back of the restaurant. As we walk I notice no one else is here.
We turn a corner and I swear my legs will buckle beneath me. Louis is standing beside the table. He’s wearing black dress pants with a white t-shirt and black blazer. He looks so good, I may have forgotten how to walk.
He walks up to me with the biggest smile. Taking my hand, holding it out to my side then using it to twirl me around in a complete circle.
“You look absolutely incredible, Lea.” There I go blushing again. “Thank you, Louis.” I use my free hand, the one he’s not holding, to lightly trace the lapel of his blazer. “You are looking extremely handsome.”
He smiles. “Thank you, Love.”
Louis leads me to the table, pulling out my chair for me. As I sit I ask him. “Are we the only ones in the restaurant?”
Sitting down across from me, he grins. “Yes. I bought out the restaurant for tonight. I’m not trying to show off, I just wanted to be alone with you. Uninterrupted.”
The look in his eyes causes my breath to catch. So sweet, yet there’s something else. Something intense. I can’t quite give it a name yet.
“I wasn’t sure if you prefer fancy food?”
I smile. Hoping I don’t hurt his feelings, I tell him. “Actually, I’m not a fan of really fancy food. I prefer the basics.”
Louis looks relieved. “Oh thank God. Max! Bring out the burgers and chips please.”
I immediately begin to drool as Max sets the most amazing looking hamburger and french fries in front of me. “Louis, this looks so good.”
“I was hoping you’d like it. I prefer the basics as well.”
