End Of The Day

Back at the studio, I’m wrapping up an interview with a local businessman. He approaches me after the interview. “Lea, I was hoping I could take you out to dinner tonight.”
I’m a bit shocked. “I’m sorry, I already have plans for tonight.” As I look around for Tracy, I spot her talking to Louis. What is he doing here?
“Well perhaps some other time then.”
“Hmm? Oh yes. Thank you for the interview today. Excuse me, I need to talk to my assistant.” I make my way to Tracy.
“What did he want?” Tracy asks me before I can say a word.
I smile at Louis before answering her. “He was asking me out to dinner.”
Louis’ face changes. The smile disappears. If I didn't know better, I’d almost say he looks jealous.
“What did you say?” Louis asks me with a hint of concern in his voice.
I smile assuringly. “I told him I had a better offer.”
Louis winks. “Good girl.”
We both laugh.
“Were you here for the interview?”
“I was, Love. You did great. It’s quite impressive how natural you are at it.”
“Thank you. I’m glad I didn’t know you were here though. I would have been nervous.”
Louis takes a step closer to me. “Do I make you nervous?”
I swallow hard, looking up into his eyes. “A little. It’s a good nervous though.”
Louis sighs. Then taking one of my curls, he wraps it around his finger. “You make me a bit nervous too, Lea.”
Tracy clearing her throat pulls us both out of the moment.
“Sorry guys. Lea, you need to get ready for your next interview.”
“Thank you, Tracy. I’ll be there in a moment.” Turning back to Louis. “I’m sorry, I have to go. Was there something you needed? You’re not cancelling tonight are you?”
Louis smiles. “No Love, I just wanted to see your beautiful face.”
I feel myself turning red. Damn it, why does he make me blush so much? “I’m glad you came by. I’ll see you tonight.”
Louis leans forward, giving me a soft, quick kiss on my cheek. “Have a great interview. I can’t wait till tonight.”
Then he turns to leave. I’m watching him walk away. As he reaches the door he turns back briefly, giving me a wink before walking out.
