End Of The Day

I answer the knock on my hotel room door to find Tracy. She walks past me into the room.
“Guess who will be your assistant at your new job?”
I look at her confused. “What?”
“I’ve been hired as your assistant. I’m moving to England too.”
I smile. “Congrats, Tracy. That's great news. I didn’t even realize you had applied for the job.”
“I hadn’t. We need to sit down, Lea.”
We sit on the couch.
“Lea, I went today to speak with the producer of the show. To get his side of the story. It was just what Louis told me. Do you want to hear?”
I look down briefly, it’s time. “Yes.”
“Louis didn’t ask him to hire you as a favor. All he asked was that the producer be sure that you were given a fair chance. Louis was afraid that the others at the show might give you a hard time because you are American.”
I sigh.
“Louis raved to him about what a fabulous interviewer you are. The producer reviewed your application and your interview. The others had already recommended to him to hire you though. So although Louis did ask a favor, it didn’t affect anything. You got that job on your own merit.”
I put my head in my hands, then looking up. “Tracy, what have I done?”
“You were human. You made an understandable mistake.”
I shake my head. “I should have trusted in Louis more.”
“Lea, you and Louis both made mistakes. You should have let him explain, and he shouldn’t have gotten involved at all.”
I nod, then put my hand up to pause her from continuing. “What’s that noise?”
We both listen. “Is it the window?”
Getting up, walking to the window, I look down to see Louis. He’s throwing pebbles at my window. I smile. Wow, he has a great arm.
I text him. “Come on up.”
“I’ll give you two some privacy.” Tracy says as she leaves.

Taking a deep breath, I open the door for Louis. It suddenly hits me how very much I’ve missed him. He looks so adorable standing there with a large water gun.
“Hi.” He says quietly.
“Hi. Come on in.” I reply.
“What’s the water gun for?” I ask.
Louis grins. “I thought you might like to take out some of your frustration on me.”
I laugh. “Maybe later, let’s talk.”
We sit on the couch, facing each other. I start. “I’m sorry that I didn’t give you the chance to explain sooner.”
Louis smiles. “I understand why you didn’t.”
He goes on to explain everything to me. Basically just what Tracy had said.
“I may not have done what you thought I did, but I shouldn’t have gotten involved. I never meant to let you down, Lea.”
I sit quietly. My mind racing.
“Darling, I could tell you that I won’t ever hurt you again, but the odds are that I’ll mess up. That doesn’t mean that I love you any less. Just means I’m an idiot.”
I grin, Louis takes my hand.
“I love your smile, and I’m so sorry I’m the one who caused it to disappear. Please forgive me, Love.”

I squeeze Louis’ hand. “I’m sorry too, I overreacted.” I pause. “You know, when I first met you, I thought you were perfect. Then I realized that of course you aren’t perfect, none of us are. Yet, I still love every imperfect inch of you. All I really want is to be loved by a man who will make me promises, and keep them.”
“I want to be that man for you, Love.”
“Good.” I smirk. “Can I have the water gun now?”
Louis smiles. “Still a bit of anger left?”
I smirk. “No, I just really want to see you wet.”
He smirks, handing me the water gun. I chase him around the room, drenching him. Feeling all the stress fly away.
Louis pulls the water gun away from me. He looks so sexy. I bite my lip as he runs his hand through his wet hair.
Moving in close, he puts his hand in my hair. “Darling, from now on I won’t just tell you, I love you, I’ll prove it to you, everyday.”
I wrap my arms around his waist. “Care to prove it to me now?”
I recognize the naughty spark in his eyes. Oh how I’ve missed that...missed him.
