Something Good Can Work

Tea Time

The next morning I woke up with a screaming headache, it felt like my brain was pounding against my skull. I wanted to die. Just to die and not live this pain. Did I mention liquor is not for me?
“Summer! You’ve got a visitor!” I hear my grans voice calling and I sit up slowly, I am still in the dress from last night. My makeup smeared all over my face.
I knew it was going to be Harry. God let it be someone else. Please? Just once, help me out?
“’ello love?” I hear his damned charming accent call from the hallway. I groan and fall back into my bed, pulling the blanket over my face.
He obviously has no manners because he just walked right in, laughing at me. Rude.
“I brought you remedies lightweight.” He said as he sat on the edge of my bed, I did not for the life of me want to remove this blanket. He was not ready for this. No one was.
He was intrusive, tugging at my blanket. Okay now he’s getting rapey.
“I’ll hit you so hard.” I say through gritted teeth.
“Is that anyway to speak to your savior? Imagine what could have happened if I’d left you alone that night? I saw that blonde boy getting handsy with you, he’s got a reputation you know.” I arched a brow, letting the blanket fall just a bit. Niall didn’t strike me as the type to have a reputation.
“Niall?” I say as I slowly let my face peek at him.
“Damn. Cover it back up.” He said as he took the blanket and shoved it back over my face.
I moved my hand to shove him off the bed, but he averted my impact and pulled the blanket from my face.
“Only jokin’ babe. Here, take this.” He held his palm out to me; two white pills were staring at me.
“It’s ecstasy, it’ll take the edge off.” He said with a dead serious expression on his face, it didn’t last long and he was chuckling, shaking his head.
“I’m sorry, I’m on a roll. It’s aspirin. It’ll help with your head, which I’m quite sure is about to explode from the way you behaved last night. You touched me bum and all.” He gave me a wink and I groaned, leaning my head back and instantly regretting it.
“Three things; You’re not funny, thank you, and I did not touch your ass. Don’t play.” I said finally looking at him. I take the pills and down them with the bottle of water on my bedside table.
“Honest.” He said, sitting up straight. “You said I didn’t have one and then you grabbed my arse and said ‘oh meebee you do.’ It was all very cheeky, no pun intended.” He said with a wink. There was something about him that made me want to slap the shit out of him, but then there was this part that made me think he was going to make me wet myself laughing.
“Ha. Ha. Well, everyone has an ass. Yours is just quite small.” I saiid with a nod.
“Not yours though, don’t worry. I didn’t let anyone have a look. I was quite the gentlemen, I’m impressed really.” He said standing up and reaching his hand out to me. I gave him a questioning look.
“What?” I asked, pulling my knees up to my chest.
“Tea, remember? C’mon now, you’ve got to work on this.” He walked over to my vanity, grabbing some of my makeup wipes and then handed them to me before walking into my closet.
I pulled out a moist towel and began wiping the makeup off of my face.
“What are you doing?” I called, sliding my legs off the bed and deciding against standing up quickly.
“Getting you some clothes, I see some … what are these? Joggers? I don’t know and it’s a bit chilly out so this jumper will do…” He was talking to himself as he walked out of the room, handing me a pair of leggings and an oversized sweat shirt.
“It’ll be like you’re a celebrity who is incognito. I even have some sunnies that will complete the look.” He said with a wide Cheshire grin.
I shook my head.
“You’re a mess. Turn around.” I said as I finally stand up. I wait for him to turn before I peel the dress from my body. I smell horrendous I’m sure. I grab some body spray from my night table and sprits it on my bod before pulling on the leggings and the sweater. I turn to look at myself in the mirror, no makeup and I look like death. I sigh.
Harry turns and looks at me, giving me a smile.
“Beautiful. Even hungover.” He said leaning in to kiss my cheek quickly.
“Oh, but maybe brush your teeth, yeah?” He said furrowing his brows.
I don’t know if I hate him or love him.
He was a year older than me and had his driver’s license which was very. (Damn Heathers lingo.)
It was a small car, a mini as he referred to it (Pretty sure it’s a mini cooper, sooo yeah.) It is blue and kind of beat up, looks like an older model. It’s adorbs though.
He held my door for me and was quite the gentlemen. It’s times like these when I realize I really shouldn’t judge a book by it’s black-wearing, multiple necklace having, tight black ripped jean clad cover. Really.
“So, you’ve never had a proper cuppa? Not even living with your grandparents??” He asked, sounding completely astonished. I glared at him, shaking my head.
“The only tea I’ve had is sweet. Sometimes the warm tea from Chinese places, but just sweet tea with lemon for me.” Growing up in the south, it’s kind of hard not to drink it like water.
“Disgusting. You’re missing out and I will change your evil voodoo ways Ms. Summer.” He said as he held the door to a quaint little café downtown. The music was low and had a very indie vibe about it. It was like I was finally finding the new me, maybe this wouldn’t be so bad after all.
Harry ordered tea for the both of us, he put cream or something in them and we sat down in a corner sofa, the dark atmosphere helped cover up my hangover that was quite visible.
“Let it cool just a bit, it was well warm.” He said as he sat up some to sip at his, he was thinking I couldn’t handle it. I looked him over, shrugged and sat up to grab my tea. I blew on it a bit at first and then took a sip. It was sweet, had a kind of vanilla flavor to it, but was warm and made me feel all cozy inside. I couldn’t let him know how much I liked it though, so I sat it back down and shrugged again.
“Meh.” I lied, crossing my legs beneath me and leaning down on my palms while my elbows pressed into my thighs.
“You’re a liar. I saw the way your eyes closed in bliss. I barely know you and I can read you like a children’s book.” He said with a scoff, it was a playful one, but challenging.
“Oh? Tell me one thing about me then that I haven’t already told you.” I challenged back.
“You’re beautiful for starters…” He said with that crooked grin, the kind that gave me some kind of feeling. I inhaled, sitting up a bit and rolled my eyes.
“You’re predictable.” I replied, giving him a nod.
“You’re sad.” He replied.
“Because you saw me crying while I was drunk?” I retorted.
“Because your eyes tell me.” He said softly, taking another sip of his tea.
I didn’t know what to say back, he had won this round. I quietly sipped my tea, sitting the saucer in my lap.
“Sad eyes are beautiful though, they tell a story. Like one glance and you feel everything that person is feeling. You have those kinds of eyes, they’re captivating. The kind you want to get lost in for hours and are totally miffed when you have to come back to reality.” It was like he was reading my mind. Maybe his eyes had a hint of sad to them too, why hadn’t I noticed before? Maybe it was because I was too caught up in my self-pity to realize.
“You’re charming Harry. Why does my cousin hate you?” I asked, arching a brow as a pout grew on my lip. There had to be a reason.
“Your cousin, Louis… we grew up together. We were best mates. It was because of a girl of course, a girl who got mixed up with two young and dumb boys. That was ages ago, but Louis is the king of holding a grudge.” He was being honest. I liked honest.
“Why do you say Niall has a reputation?” I quickly threw that in, before placing my lips back on the teacup.
“You like him…” He said looking down, sighing slightly. I did like Niall, but that didn’t mean I didn’t like Harry too. What is being sixteen if not being torn between two polar opposite males?
“He’s not bad, he’s broken a few hearts, but haven’t we all? He’s a nice fellow, honest.” He spoke kindly, but his eyes gave it away. This was his opportunity to sweep me out from under Niall and he wasn’t taking it. There was no way he was just that good of a guy, he had to be hiding something.
I sighed.
“I need a year of no boys. I mean, as friends sure, but I need to get my life back together. I feel like Dorothy and you’re definitely my cowardly lion, not that you’re cowardly. He’s just my favorite so yeah.” I said laughing slightly.
“Thanks, I think?” He said, laughing also. “Well a friend is what you need, then a friend I will be.” He affirmed, giving my thigh a squeeze.
This would be a piece of cake, like a piece of chocolate cake you want to eat more than anything. but you’re on a fucking diet and you can’t. Yes, exactly like that.

Notes

Guysss. Harry is the cutest. Okay so I'm sure all you writers can agree that sitting down and writing is just as fun as reading other stories because if you're like me you never really know what you're about to write, words just kind of flow out and it's like omg what just happened!
