Chapter 3

Leah’s P.O.V

It was already Wednesday and I was currently drawing a picture of the London eye as I sat by my window feeling the chilly breeze coming in from the window, I got up to close it and I heard the door of our apartment open, I walked into the living room seeing Kenzie talking on her phone, she saw me and smiled quickly waving a hi with her hand and I noticed a bag on the couch, a dress bag… well nothing new… her dad is a businessman, a very successful one actually so she goes to a lot of gala’s I walked to the bag looking at Kenzie and pointing to the bag asking If I can look, she quickly nodded her head and continued talking on the phone, I opened up the bag to see a beautiful pink dress…

it was stunning really, I’m not poor either, my family has had money since I can remember.

Kenzie came walking back into the living room greeting me with a hug and apologising for taking so long on the phone.

I asked her what the dress is for and she explained that her dad is hosting a fund raiser this weekend and wants us all to attend, we chatted about it and I complimented her dress and she thanked me then mentioned going shopping for dresses for me and Bai tomorrow, she mentioned something about a color scheme but promised she’d come along to shop for dresses, I admired Kenzie a lot she was always so organized and she is attending UAL for drama and not art like me but she is so figured out and precise with everything, she did everything with grace and almost always wore high heels and she was usually attending things with her parents.

She said her father invited us because he wants to get to know his daughter’s friends a bit more, and besides I won’t turn down stuff like this I AM enjoying my life this way.

As we were talking we heard the door open again and saw the familiar brown curls entering the door, Bai walked in and smiled at us.

“ahhh if it isn’t my two favourite girls!” she said loudly as she jumped on the couch where we were sitting throwing her bag on the ground effortlessly, she sighed out loudly but quickly shot up when she saw the shiny pink material of Kenzie’s dress on the table in front of us.

“ooooh, this is lovely-she said as she picked up the dress- what’s it for?”

“For a fund raiser which both of you are accompanying me to” Kenzie replied.

Bai widened her eyes and slumped down on the couch once more, “we’re going shopping tomorrow for dresses” I said and she smiled pumping her fist in the air with a loud “yes” she loves shopping and even if she was tired she’d still make an
exception for shopping.

I put the girls’ plates in front of them as they thanked me for the dinner I prepared, it was just something simple and I sat next to them at the island table as we talked about the event.

“well I got my dress already and the colors you can choose from are white, black and pink, so what are you going for?” Kenzie asked taking a bite of the mac and cheese.

“I’m thinking of something with lace and sheer y’know I love that sort of dresses lately” I stated and Bai quickly muttered ‘black’ as she ate further.

--the next day—

We were looking for dresses and I already had a few which were 2 black lace dresses and a white lace and sheer dress and Bai held up a black and white yelling that she’s going to go try it on before disappearing to the fitting rooms. I sighed and walked over to the fitting rooms with Kenzie by my side, It wasn’t a sad or irritated sigh but a relaxed one, I entered a room as Kenzie sat on the white sofa waiting for me and Bai to come out. We giggled as we kept making jokes about stupid stuff happening at parties in the past and me and Bai counted a quick 1, 2, 3 before exiting the fitting rooms together Kenzie clapped her hands and cheered that they were perfect so we ended up buying the dresses, I picked the white one…

and I loved it, it was everything I was looking for and Baileigh ended up with a black and white dress…

Mckenzie assured us that the dresses were perfect and we left the store happy as ever and we continued our shopping spree for accessories and when we had finally found what we wanted we went for ice cream and headed home after that well not yet, Kenzie said her dad wanted us to come pick up some gifts he had for us so we went there quickly and I was once again amazed at the elegant home they had, it was large with lots of security and we entered her home as she called out for her parents, in a few seconds we were met by her dad in a grey business suit and he held out his arms in a hugging manner as she ran up to him and hugged him.

Half an hour passed and he walked back into the living room after leaving for few minutes with 3 bags with the tiffany’s logo on, he handed each of us a bag and said we should look inside, as I pulled out the box and opened it my eyes grew wide, he bought us all a diamond necklace, gee mister you don’t even know us and you buy us diamonds? No not complaining, I thanked him and he said that he wanted us to wear it to the gala this Saturday we nodded quickly and we left after another 10 minutes.

I asked Kenzie why her dad bought us such a gift and she said something about her dad caring about females very much even if they are still under 20 he believes they should feel appreciated and stuff like that, she said her mother always got gifts like these.
