Bad

Harry's POV:

I spend the rest of the day walking around school making sure those dickheads don't cause any trouble. I try to think about Beth as little as possible. I know that Tate said something to her but I know he hasn't done anything bad to her yet because if he had he would be rubbing it in my face. Luckily, I don't have any classes with Tate or Colton. I still had all my boys make sure they weren't doing anything stupid.

Right after school, the boys and I go to the lake. They all start talking about little things while I can now only think about Beth. I have to go see her. I haven't been able to really talk to her since the weekend.

"What are we going to do about Tate and Colton at school?" Niall asks.

"We're going to do absolutely nothing." I say walking closer to the lake.

"What do you mean?" Liam asks.

"They'll eventually do something to get themselves kicked out, so we wait."

"Harry what about Beth?" Niall says.

"What do you fucking mean 'What about Beth'? She's fine. I don't know why he's not going after Sky." I spat.

"You know damn well why he's not going after Sky," Louis says. "You hate her and he can see that, everyone can see that. Don’t try to take this out on us, Harry. We’re the only family you have.”

"Whatever," I say. "No one do anything to them, we're not going to jail because of them anytime soon. Nate would want us to keep our distance." They all stay silent for a little after that.

"So Niall, what did you do to fuck it up with Addie?" Louis asks breaking the silence and everyone laughs, including me.

"I set her coat on fire and then called her stupid." Niall says and receives a slap on the head from Liam.

"You're so fucking dumb. Why the hell would you tell her that?" Liam asks.

"Because the fire was my fault and to make me look better I blamed it on her." He shrugs. Now receiving a slap on the head from each of us.

"Mate, I even know not to do that and I hate my girlfriend." Louis says.

After about an hour we all leave. I drive by Beth's house and see no one there. I begin to panic a bit and then remember that she left school with Addie, at least, I think she did. I drive to Addie's and see Beth's car parked in front. Addie sure does have a damn gigantic house. Her mom has a crazy good job, I know that.

I wait outside for a bit, I guess Addie's parents aren't home. I finally get enough courage to get out of the car and knock on the door.

Addie opens the door after about thirty seconds.

"What do you want Harry?" She asks me as the door opens.

"Is Beth here?" I ask concerned.

"Yes, why?" She knows why.

"I want to talk to her." I say.

"I'll ask her if she wants to see you. Come in," She says and opens the door more to allow me inside. "Wait in here." She says as she points to the first room on the left, which is a giant living area.

I wait for a couple minutes before I hear footsteps on the stairs. Addie walks in.

"She doesn't want to see you, she's been having a bad day." She says. No shit.

"Did she tell you what Tate said to her?" I ask looking at her intently.

"Yes." She says looking at her feet.

"How bad was it?" I ask her.

She doesn't say anything.

"Addie where is she?" I ask moving around her so I can search around the house.

"Harry!" She yells but I'm already moving up the stairs.

I finally find her in some sort of loft area upstairs. She is lying down on her side on the couch with headphones in, staring at the wall. I walk over to her and sit down.

"Beth." I say. She looks at me and turns away. This is becoming too common.

"Beth, talk to me." I say putting my hand on her thigh.

She takes her headphones out and sits up.

"What do you want?" She asks looking at her hands. Her voice weak.

"Are you okay?" I ask and Addie comes running in.

"Beth!" She says. Beth waves her off and Addie nods and walks out of the room.

Beth turns back to me. "I'm fine, tired that's all."

"Stop lying to me."

"He told me that he was going to kill you and that I have to cooperate with him or else he's going to do something to my family." She chokes.

"Beth," I try to make her look at me but she won't. "Beth I'm so sorry, I brought you into this. I want to keep you safe Beth, I'll take you somewhere safe."

"I'm safe here." She says.

"No, no Beth, you're not. You have to come with me." I say and grab her hand but she yanks it away.

"Can you not tell I don't want to go with you? Haven't you done enough? You said all this stuff to me the other night and then showed up to school and I heard that you were dating Sky again! The day after we kissed Harry! I heard that! Harry do you know how much that hurt? It felt like you were messing with me! That I was being used. I was actually starting to like you too. And now there's a psychotic boy trying to kill you and is using me to help him tear you apart!" She says and the truth finally comes out.

"Beth, I'm sorry." I say.

"Sorry? That's great Harry. You're sorry and something terrible might happen to my family, which is pretty much just my mum!" She's says getting up from the couch.

"Beth-" I try to speak but nothing comes out.

"Harry, please, please just go." She says and points to the stairs.

I nod and walk out. I thank Addie on my way and leave the house. Just because she doesn't want me to protect her doesn't mean I'm not going to. I will protect her and her family at all costs.
