Coincidental Meeting (A Louis Tomlinson Fanfic)

I opened the door and saw Liam and Danielle. I couldn't tell who was more surprised.

"Hello Maria. Where are the boys?" he seemed confused, glad it wasn't mad.

"What is this Liam?" Danielle asked.

"Just follow me to the dining room. I'm suppose to 'seat' you two." I said not knowing what else I was suppose to say to them. I led them into the room where Louis, Harry, and Niall were holding their designated items singing the chorus of Truly, Madly, Deeply perfectly together. My guess they were trying to set the mood for them.

I just stood there awkwardly as Liam went to pull out the chair for Danielle. She rolled her eyes and I couldn't understand why she seemed so annoyed? Liam was being really sweet so there was no reason to be upset.

I decided it probably would be best if I just went back into the kitchen. Within five minutes the boys were back in the kitchen. They were whispering.

"Is everything okay between them?" Niall asked softly trying not to be overheard.

"I don't know," Harry said. "But I thought she would like this."

"Me too," agreed Louis.

We all just awkwardly looked at each other. Niall finally broke the awkwardness by fixing him a plate of food. Louis held my hand and asked, "Do you want to eat?"

I had completely forgotten that I was hungry because of the weird vibe that was being sent throughout the entire apartment.

Eventually we were all standing around in the kitchen eating. We were nearly finished eating when Harry and Niall thought they should go pretend to be waiters. They went out asked if the couple needed anything and you could hear them both say no in a tense tone.

Louis looked at me and said, "I think we probably should get going. I want to talk to you alone."

Harry and Niall practically came running back into the kitchen. They both looked really uncomfortable. Then we soon found out why.

"Liam. This is by far the stupidest anniversary ever!" Danielle shouted at Liam.

We all just looked at each other then I looked up at Louis with pleading eyes. I did not want to listen to an arguement. I wanted to leave but he was worried about his friend, so I understood.

"The boys went through a lot of trouble to do this for us! I was doing this for you! For us! I didn't want to have to deal with the paps again!" Liam yelled in anger.

I know I haven't known Liam that long but I never thought he could sound so angry at the world with a few short sentences.

"I'm leaving! This is ridiculous Liam!" Danielle yelled while she was already leaving as you could hear her heels going across the floor.

"Dani wait!" Liam tried but she was already out the door.

Harry and Niall rushed to check on Liam.

"I'll be back." Louis said before rushing to check on Liam as well.

I was left alone in the kitchen and I felt completely useless. I didn't know if it would be a good idea to go and see if Liam was okay or not. Louis said he would be back but I knew that it would be better if I just left. Liam needed them right now. Liam and Danielle had been together for as long as I could think of. I knew if they broke up it would hurt Liam.

While waiting I decided it was a safe time to check my phone. A few Twitter notifications and a text message from my father. I knew I shouldn't read it but I did anyway.

I need your help with something.

Whenever my father asked me to help him with something I always ended up hurt or in trouble. Both of which I did not want. My father also knew exactly when to come into my life and make me hurt again.

I waited for a few more minutes. I knew I should go. I was getting upset and did not want Louis to see me like this. I hated people seeing me upset. I did not like to look vulnerable. I did not like to look weak. As I was about to walk out of the kitchen Louis came in.

"Wait, why are you leaving?" he asked.

"I'm sorry. I just.." I needed a quick, little lie to make him let me go, "I think ya'll should be alone, I mean after all Liam needs you."

"Babe, I'll take you home. Let me go tell Liam I'll be right back."

"No. No, Liam needs you. I'll call Emily. She'll come get me."

"Babe, are you okay?"

I didn't really know if I was fine to be sure. Then again I just got annoyed because I never like to be asked if I'm fine or okay or anything like that.

"I'm fine." I walked over to him and kissed him quickly. "I already asked Emily to pick me up. I'll be okay. Go make sure Liam is okay."

"Okay," he said but he knew something was wrong. "Babe. Are you sure? I don't mind. Liam would understand."

I felt bad because he was so concerned about me. I didn't want to be having a problem while Liam was possibly about to lose his girlfriend of a very long time. I shouldn't even express my problem, I thought.

"Louis, I promise. I'm fine." I could tell I sounded annoyed but right now I knew I needed to get away from him and just be by myself.

I started walking out of the apartment. I continued walking down the street. I knew it was probably over ten miles back to my apartment but I didn't care. I needed to be alone. Plus, I didn't want to inconvenience Emily right now.

I just started walking toward my apartment. Today started out great, got really amazing, and now was ending shitty.

I was already three blocks away from Liam's apartment when my phone buzzed. It was a text.

Babe, something is wrong. I'm not going to force you to tell me, but know that I am here. Emily didn't come get you. I saw you keep walking. I'm here when you are ready to talk.

This text only made me feel worse.
