Through the Dark

Agnes works at the hotel with me. She’s a sweet woman in her sixties, like a second mom to me. After coming down from Liam’s room, I pop in the office to ask her how everything is going. She grins when I walk in the room. “What happened to you? You’re glowing.” She tells me. I blush. “Nothing.” She laughs. “Ya right. Is it our new guest maybe?”
I sit down in the chair at the desk. “Agnes, have you ever met a guy so hot that you can’t think straight?”
She smiles. “Yes I have, I married him.”
I grin. “It’s not just his amazing looks though. I mean I know I just met him, but he’s so sweet. Like you can tell he’s a good person.”
Agnes laughs. “Oh sweetie, you’ve got it bad.”
I sigh. “Don’t judge me Agnes till you’ve seen him.”
There’s a knock at the office door. “Oh hi, Josh. How are you?”
Josh works at the restaurant in town. He brings us deliveries of bread and pastries. He has a crush on me. He’s asked me out a few times but I’ve always turned him down.
“Wow Alexis, you look amazing.” He tells me.
“Thanks Josh.” I say as I lead him to the kitchen to leave his delivery.
When he’s done I walk him to the door and I’m telling him goodbye as the elevator opens. My face lights up. It’s Liam. I walk towards him as Agnes comes out of the office. I introduce her to Liam. She winks at me. I look back and see that Josh is still at the door watching us. I smile and wave as he heads out the door.
“Lexi, are you busy?” Liam asks. I smile. “No, what did you need?”
Liam grins. “Well I wanted to take a walk. The property is so big though, would you mind showing me around?”
“I’d love to Liam.” I say with a big smile.
I look at Agnes. “Can you hold down the fort?”
She smiles. “Of course, you kids take your time.”
We walk to the door and Liam holds it open for me as we walk outside.
