Through the Dark

I see two black cars pull up outside. I move to stand at the side of the front desk and take a deep breath. Telling myself to act natural.
The door opens and Liam walks in first with Paddy behind him. Liam looks at me then starts to look away but does a double take. Our eyes meet and he stands still for a moment. Then his eyes move down my body and back up to my eyes in an appreciative way. I smile and he returns it with an adorable grin. As he walks towards me I allow my eyes to move up and down his lengthy body. He’s wearing black jeans, a t-shirt, and black leather jacket. He looks so amazing. Like a model that just stepped out of a magazine. I snap out of it and put my hand out to him to introduce myself. He puts his hand in mine and shakes it gently as any gentleman should. As his hand touches mine I feel a spark and I look up to meet his eyes. I wonder if he felt that spark too. I reluctantly take my hand out of his and introduce myself to Paddy. He asks to check out the property for security reasons and I tell him to go ahead of course. That leaves Liam and I alone. I move behind the front desk and give him his key. “Is the third floor ok? It has an amazing view.” I ask him. I have trouble concentrating as he watches me intently with the most gorgeous chocolate brown eyes I’ve ever seen.
“That sounds great.” He answers.
I list all the amenities the hotel offers. I add. “If you have any questions just let me know.”
“Thank you Alexis.” He says with the sweetest smile. Paddy returns and I show them
to Liam’s room.
As we enter the room I show them around. “Here’s the lounge, it has a great view of the property. There’s the loo. And the bedroom, it has a great view as well. I look at Liam, he is grinning. “You are obviously American yet you use British words.”
I blush. “I guess I’m just getting used to it.”
Liam grins. “It’s cute.”
Umm, I think my heart just stopped. Anyone know CPR? Oh wait Paddy is talking to me. “I’m sorry what was that?” I ask Paddy.
“So the hotel isn’t fully booked?” He asks me.
“No it’s our slow season. We only have a few other guests booked in and out during Mr. Payne’s stay.”
Liam touches my arm. I look up and he meets my eyes. “It’s Liam, please.”
I smile. I’m not sure I’m breathing but I definitely smile. When he removes his large hand I swear that spot where it had been is burning.
I continue to Paddy. “It’s basically like Liam will have the place to himself.”
Liam chimes in. “You’ll be here though right Alexis?”
“Umm, yes I will. You can call me Lexi.” I say with no idea how I managed to get that out without fainting.
“Lexi...I like that.” Liam says with a smile. I look at Paddy, he’s grinning. What’s that about?
“Alright Liam everything looks good. I’ll head out now.” Paddy tells him then tells me it was nice to meet me.
I turn to Liam. “I’ll leave you to get settled.” Liam walks me to the door. “Thank you Lexi.” He tells me as I head out the door.
I’m walking down the hall to the elevator. When I enter it and turn around I see that Liam is standing outside his room leaning against his open door watching me. I smile at him as the elevator doors close. Then my heartbeat quickens at the thought of him watching me walk down the hall.
