Through the Dark

The next morning I wake up and Liam isn’t beside me. A part of me starts to panic until I see the note he left me beside the bed. “Downstairs for breakfast.” I grin when I see he signed it with a heart.
I take a quick shower and get ready. Then I head down to join him. As I walk into the dining room, I stop dead in my tracks. Liam isn’t eating alone. My parents are with him. Oh crap, and Agnes.
I approach the table and put my hand on Liam’s shoulder. “Good morning, everyone.” I say as naturally as possible. Liam turns to look at me and puts his hand on mine. “Good morning, Lex.” He says with a wink.
“Mom, Dad, I thought you didn’t get back till tomorrow?”
My mom replies. “Agnes and I were just discussing that. I guess I gave you girls the wrong date.”
“Well I’m glad you’re back. Did you have a good time?” I say as Liam stands to pull out the chair next to him for me. I catch my dad’s approving glance. While they tell me about their trip, Liam takes my plate up to the buffet and gets my breakfast for me. He brings back the plate and I am amazed that he already knows what I like and don’t like.
My mom watches Liam as he picks out all the tomatoes from my omelet before handing the plate to me. “There you go love, no tomatoes.” He says, then kisses me sweetly.
I touch his face. “Thank you.”
I look over at my parents and I think the kiss has shocked them a bit. I guess Agnes didn’t have time to fill them in.
When I’ve finished eating, Liam and I go for a walk in the garden. “What did you and my parents talk about?” I ask him nervously.
Liam stops and puts his arms around my waist. “Well, I told them how hot you are and that I can’t keep my hands off of you.” He says all sexy in my ear before kissing my neck.
I push on his chest, laughing. “Liam!”
He laughs. “Alright, I told them how much I like the hotel.”
I’m waiting for more. “And?”
He teases me with a confused look. “What?”
I start to tickle him and he gives in.
“I told them that you and Agnes had done a great job in their absence.” Then he gets a serious look. “And I told them that I thought their daughter was amazing.” He leans down to kiss me. He starts to pull back but I continue the kiss. My tongue urging to meet his. We both moan quietly and I know where this is headed. Just as I’m about to suggest we take the back stairs up to his room, I hear my mother yelling. I sigh, and wipe my lipstick from Liam’s face. He takes my hand and we walk towards her.
“Alexis, can I speak with you for a few moments?” She asks.
Liam tells me he’ll wait for me in the dining room. I head into the office with my mom. My dad and Agnes are already in there.
“What’s up, guys?” I ask.
“We are a bit concerned about you and this boy.” Mom says.
My dad speaks up. “Oh no dear, don’t include me and Agnes in this.”
I sigh. “First off Mom, he’s not a boy. He’s very much a man. And I am a grown woman. You can have your concerns, but it won’t stop me from seeing Liam.”
My father starts clapping. “Well said, Lexi.”
I smile.
“Look dear, Lexi is a smart woman. And I like this young man. So let her be. Ok?” Dad says before giving Mom a hug.
I look at Agnes. She shakes her head yes.
“Mom, Dad, I need to tell you something.”
We all take a seat in the office as I tell them the whole Josh story. Ok, I leave out the part where Liam and I were half dressed. As I tell the part about the pictures and note, I see my dad’s hands clench into fists. Then as I tell them about Liam going after and fighting him, my dad begins nodding his head yes. The minute I finish the story my dad jumps out of his chair and heads out of the office.
The three of us follow him. He heads straight to Liam in the diningroom. Liam stands as he approaches him. My dad puts his hand out. Liam shakes it. “Thank you son for protecting my daughter from that freak.”
“You’re welcome sir. I would do anything to protect her.” Liam assures him.
My dad pats Liam on the back. “I like you, Liam. You feel free to spend as much time with Lexi as you’d like.”
“Thank you, sir.” Liam smiles.
My dad heads upstairs as my Mom approaches Liam.
“Thank you, Liam. I don’t want to think about what could have happened to Lexi.” Tears spill from my mother’s eyes. Liam reaches down and hugs her.
My heart swells. I don’t think I can possibly love this man more. If I don’t tell him soon, I may burst.
