*Zayn's POV*

At the sight of my badge, the wrinkled nurse at the front desk quickly shut up, instead pointing down the halls to the row of identical white room doors.

"Room 207."

I slapped the neon pink visitor's sticker onto my chest before I rushed off into the direction her shaky finger pointed.

"201...203...205...." I muttered, tracing the numbers with my finger as I passed.

"207!" I brushed a hand through my hair, taking a deep breath as I pushed open the door. Carter lay on the bed, one arm wrapped in a sling, while the other lay draped over her waist. Ron sat at a chair near the side of her bed, hand resting on her calf.

I stilled when she saw me, groaning and turning away. I awkwardly walked over to them before plastering on a fake arrogant smile.

"Right now is probably a bad time to say I told you so, huh?" My laugh was supposed to come out cocky, but instead my voice cracked and Carter flipped me off. I collapsed in a seat near Ron, and he gave me a disappointed frown.

"Do I need to set new agents on this case?" He asked, crossing his arms and looking between me and Carter's back.

Carter flipped over to face us again shooting up straight in her bed. She shook her head frantically, causing her wavy brown hair to fall across her shoulders.

"No! No! No! C'mon Ron! Please I promise I can do this! It's only been four days!"

"Exactly! And yet we still are in the same position we were when we first started the case, just that you're hospitalized now."

Carter groaned and narrowed her eyes at me.

"See Ron! And this is why I told you to let me fucking handle this case myself!" She sneered, poking out her lip while her fingers frantically drummed the hospital bed arm rest. Ron ran a hand through his balding head, shaking his head slowly.

"Carter, they wouldn't let us work on their case unless we had one of their agents involved."

I raised an eyebrow, holding out my palms as if to shrug.

"Then why can't I do it alone?" I cautiously questioned, glancing at Carter's ice stare.

"Because your agency doesn't exactly trust you. I've heard you have a habit to be, and I quote, arrogant and sloppy."

Well damn...

Carter giggled and nodded in agreement. Her smile almost made me join her, but instead I pulled a 'bitch please' face and huffed.

"No but seriously. We only have three months, and all it takes is a quick phone call to have two totally new agents on this damn case."

Carter slammed backwards intl the plastic bed, letting her hair sprawl out on the pillow. I sent her a smirk.

"So what's the plan Carter. You are in charge right?" I taunted, putting my hands on my hips. Carter scrunched her eyes shut, holding a fist to her forehead.

"You aren't gonna just quit are you Carty?" I added on.

"Fine!! We'll stay on this stupid case Ron. I'll work with Zayn. But-" she looked over at me and straight into my eyes. "From this point on I call the shots, all of them. Which means no more handcuffs and steering wheels!"

"But baby, I thought you liked it kinky!"

Carter gasped and Ron guffawed. I bit my lip and smiled. She recovered and frowned at me.

"Fine sweetheart. Don't get your panties in a twist..."

She gave me a triumphant grin and turned back to Ron.

"So...let's fucking do this. For real this time!"

*Update*

Two pints of ice cream down, one viewing of Romeo and Juliet, and still no calls back. But that's okay...I am sure he will get over himself. :(

The funny thing is, the argument was about something incredibly stupid, and he hates being wrong, so he just got his keys and went home.

But anyways....
