It's Always Been You
Uncovering the Truth
All I can do is lay curled in a ball on the bathroom floor and just cry and cry. This is not how I thought this night would go.
Earlier…
*Donyia’s POV*
It’s been 2 weeks since Dalila was last at the house. She never did call me like I told her to. Today especially I sent a ton of messages and calls to her and my other sisters did too. All I know is I have to go to her house and get her over here to see Zayn. I really hope she’s home…this is a long run!
I knocked on the door. A minute later it opens. “Dalila! Why haven’t you answered any of our messages?”
“I’m sorry I’ve been…busy. What’s up? And why are you breathing so heavily?”
“I ran all the way from my house. Zayn is back and it’s the first time you aren’t busy. You gotta come see him!”
“No thanks.” she says sitting on her bed again.
“But why? Don’t you wanna see your best friend you haven’t seen in 2 years?” I ask sitting next to her.
“What’s the point? I only see him as more than my friend now. Seeing him anymore would just be too hard for me.” Wow, I didn’t realize this affected her so much.
“You really like him, don’t you?”
“More than anything else in this world. …So when you and Perrie both said to not even try, it really hurt me. You weren’t being the supportive best friend that you should’ve been to me!”
Oh my gosh…what have I done? I thought that by making her give up on being with Zayn that I would save her from getting her heart broken in the long run, but I ended up breaking her heart anyway by not giving her a fighting chance at all.
“You know what? Who cares if no other friend has lasted with my brother? Maybe you’ll be different. Look…Perrie and I didn’t want to tell you this, but …he actually does like you back. And we told him that you didn’t so he wouldn’t pursue you. I am so sorry. We shouldn’t have done this to you. I didn’t realize how much he really means to you.”
“It’s okay, girl. I forgive you. You were just looking out for me.” she says smiling.
“Good! Now there’s a boy who likes you who’s waiting at my house for you so let’s get over there!!” She runs out of her room and right of her house. She’s so excited and I’m excited for her.
…but wait. I didn’t tell her that he’s kind of already dating Perrie! I have to tell her before we get there. I quickly texted Waliyha saying we’re on our way there and starting running after Dalila.
I get outside and Dalila is way ahead of me. I run faster and try to catch up to her, but she’s so fast! “Dalila! I forgot to tell you something!” I shout after her.
“Tell me at the house!” she shouts back.
“No stop, I have to tell you now!” I reply.
“It can wait, c’mon!” she says getting to our street. I try catching up to her but by the time I do it’ll be too late. It’s just a good thing that Perrie is out of town for a gig so we don’t have to worry about her being there.
Thankfully, Dalila slows down when she’s on our block and I’m able to catch up with her as we get to my house. We’re both too out of breath to talk, but once we both have recovered enough, she opens the door and I run in after her.
I walk in to see a horrific sight. Somehow Perrie is here and right by the door are her and Zayn kissing! I can’t imagine how Dalila is feeling right now. I can only guess by her going down the hall to the bathroom and slamming the door behind her.
Now…
*Dalila’s POV*
I thought that I would get to come in and jump into Zayn’s arms, tell him I like him too, and we would just live happily ever after. Instead, I come in to find him kissing one of my best friends who wasn’t even supposed to be here in the first place!
I don’t even know who to hate, Zayn or Perrie. But what I do know is I can’t stay in their bathroom forever. I have to clear my eyes and mind, and go out there to find out what the heck is going on.
Gathering up every ounce of bravery in me, I walk out of the bathroom and into the kitchen where everyone is eating dinner. Everyone except for Zayn and Perrie. Donyia seemed to read my face, because right away she told me, “They’re on the front steps talking.”
I look out the windows by the front door and I can see them talking, or fighting rather. They were going back and forth yelling at each other. I was trying to read their lips, but all I could make out was the end. Zayn yelled, “We’re over!” and all Perrie could do was run away sobbing.
I saw him look after her, but he didn’t say anything. I saw him coming to open the door, but I couldn’t move. All I could think about was him saying that he and Perrie were over. I never knew they were together in the first place. Neither one of them bothered to tell me!
Zayn opened the door, saw me standing there, and we both froze, locked in a stare. I've figured out who I should hate, and that's both of them. How could they do this to me?
