It's Always Been You

I snapped out of it and once I did, I didn’t say a word. I just walked over to Zayn, pushed him out the door and shut it behind us. I had to talk to him and get all of this straightened out.

“Zayn we need to talk. Now.”

“Okay, okay. What’s up? Why did you just run to the bathroom when you got here?”

“It’s just…seeing you and Perrie kiss made me really upset.”

“Well yeah that I gathered, but why did it upset you? That’s what’s confusing me.” I took a deep breath. I knew I had to tell him, right now.

“When Perrie told you that I didn’t like you…she was lying. I do like you Zayn. I like you a lot. But she and Donyia and apparently Waliyha and Safaa didn’t want me to date you. They didn’t think we would make a good couple and also because they were so certain it wouldn’t work out, they were trying to save me from a broken heart.”

“Actually…when I was fighting with Perrie a few minutes ago, she spilled everything that’s been going on with all this and… she didn’t say that was the reason for her lying to me about you.”

“What? That is the reason. She thought she was looking out for me just like Donyia. She’s one of my best friends.”

“That’s what she wanted you to think. She lied to me about you, because she wanted me for herself. With Donyia’s help she was able to get really close to you. Close enough that you felt like you could tell her anything. Like about your crush on me. At this point, she made a deal with me that if you didn’t like me, I would go out with her. I guess I was so desperate for a girlfriend that I would date someone I didn’t like as much. Anyway, when you did come to her for advice, she told you not to tell me about it knowing that I did like you and that if she succeeded, you wouldn’t tell me, she could tell me you didn’t feel the same, and she would have me to herself. She’s a sneaky one.” he added kind of disgusted.

“I can’t believe her! She was never really my friend. She was just using me to get with you. Well one thing’s for sure. Her and I are no longer friends of any kind. I’m never speaking to her again. But…Donyia told me before we came here that you do like me. Unless I heard you wrong, did you say you did like me and not that you still do? I mean it’s okay if you don’t anymore I guess…”

“No! Dalila, I do still like you. I’ve liked you since the first time you came home with Donyia. I remember seeing you and thinking wow…she’s beautiful. I couldn’t stop thinking about you and so many times I told myself I would tell you how I feel, but I always chickened out. Then came X Factor and I was gonna tell you before I left, but I still couldn’t do it. Once Perrie told me you didn’t like me and I started going out with her, I thought I would try to use my relationship with her to forget about you. But every time she would hug me, kiss me, even just look into my eyes…all I could think about was you. Your embrace. Your lips on mine. And your stunning eyes looking back at mine. It’s always been you, Dalila. And it always will be you.”

By this time, we’re both choking up and just throw ourselves in each other’s arms. Zayn picks me up and spins me hugging me really tight. When he puts me down, I’m crying tears of pure joy.

Even so, he tilts my chin up, wipes away my tears and says, “I love you, Dalila.”

I smile up at him and say, “I love you too, Zayn. Forever.” We then share the most passionate, magical kiss there ever was and stand holding each other watching the sunset over the trees. Zayn Malik was finally mine, and would be mine until the end of time.
