You & I

I sighed. My last day at Noble High.The ceremony starts in two hours and my mom haven't even finished sewing the rip in my graduation gown yet."Are you sure?" My parents asked me when I explained to them about my plans for after graduating. "Yes, I've got the money. I'll be fine." Though I wasn't really sure at the moment.

The collage I applied for is in London, and more than a week ago I found out I'd gotten in. My flight was tomorrow morning and I dreaded to get up early. "Hey..." my sister Adele came into my room and sat on the edge of my bed. I smiled weakly, then moved over to give her more room. Adele and I are only two years apart, but we've been close ever since she was born.

"Via I'm going to miss you." Tears ran down her face and she turned away from me. I leaned over and gave her a hug. "I know baby sis, I know. I'm going to miss you too." Dell was usually fussy about hugs, but this was the first time she voluntarily hugged me back. "But it'll be okay. I'll come visit every year." She sniffed, then nodded. "You better."

When we arrived at the school, thousands of people had already seated themselves in the velvet chairs reserved for them. "I'll see you guys after the ceremony." I kissed my parents on the cheek, hugged Dell, the headed backstage where the rest of my friends were.

"Hey." Someone from behind me said, but her voice cracked. I turned around to see my best friend Dove. Her face was all red and tears were running down her face. I embraced her in a hug. "You're such a bitch, you know that? God, Via. I'm going to miss you so much." I laughed and pulled away. I told myself I wasn't going to cry today. "I know I am. Beautiful, Intelligent, Talented, Charming, and Hot. You know me so well."

She laughed, then smiled. Less than a second later, we were being rushed to the stage to take our seats. Since Dove's last name is Curt and mine is Dawn, we got to sit pretty close to each other. As names got called, and students stood up one by one, it started to get a little bit crowded.

"Dove Curt." I stood up and started cheering for her. Even though that wasn't allowed, many people started standing up too. By the time they got to my name, I stood up nervously as people started hooting and hollering, including Dove. Two more hours droned on by until the ceremony finally finished.

I met my parents and Dell outside on the front lawn before saying goodbye to my friends. I promised to text them every day once I got there. When we got home, I changed out of my gown and put on a pair of sweats and a tank top. I was worn out. When I got into bed, I glanced at my already packed suitcases and empty room. I wondered if I made a mistake.
