Starts With Goodbye
~Prologue~
||February||
Niall’s POV
Tori looks beautiful in her little dress. God, I love my little Princess so much. She’s five today. That’s a big achievement, even if she doesn’t know it. She’s spinning around in circles in the middle of the floor, her hands on her hips. She’s so amazing.
Jana stands against the stair railing with Perrie and Eleanor. I sorta feel awkward. This was the first time we all have been together since the whole “separation” thing. And plus, tensions are burning all around us. Louis and Eleanor called it quits. Liam and Sophia are arguing, and she’s like five months pregnant I think.
Harry keeps to himself, so does Louis. Perrie is her normal self. She’s probably the only normal one here. But then, there’s some of Jana’s close family members. I don’t really know them personally, which is bad, but still. My mom’s here, my dad too.
I just try to focus on my self and Tori. That’s all. I glance over at Jana. Her eyes are on the floor, not paying attention to Perrie talking to her at all. I walk slowly in her direction. It wasn’t long until I had made my way over there.
She looks up at me, raising her eyebrows.She figures that the only time I have something to say, its when I have to ask something. But its not this time. This isn’t a question.
‘’Hey.’’ I smile gently, my attempt of small talk might now work this time. ‘’Hey.’’ She mumbles back as she picks at her finger nails. ‘’You look nice.’’ I tell her, casually. ‘’Thanks.’’ She doesn’t smile, she doesn’t even look at me.
I look quickly down at her hand. The engagement ring still on her finger. I know she doesn’t take it off.. I know she doesn’t.
“This is nice.. I wish you could have let me help, though.’’ I tell her, not trying to start anything. ‘’Tori wanted certain things..’’ She shrugs gently as she takes out her phone after hearing it beep. She sighs and rolls her eyes, clutching it tight as she puts her hands by her sides.
‘’What’s wrong?’’ I ask, curious and a tad worried. ‘’Nothing.’’ She shakes her head gently before trying to turn away from me, but I grab her wrist gently and repeat myself.
‘’What’s wrong.. don’t lie.’’ I say. ‘’Niall.. you said I could.. see other people.. right? If I really wanted to?’’ Jana’s eyes avoid my gaze, I know something’s up.
‘’Yeah, whatever keeps you happy…’’ I nod. ‘’Well.. I have.. a friend.. and he.. he wants to.. to come over.. but.. you.. and I.. I .. just.’’ She stops herself by covering her face with her hands. I roll my lips in, knowing all this is my fault.
‘’Jana, don’t get upset... you can have any one over. I don’t care. As long as they don’t hurt you..’’ I mumble, keeping my voice down to limit any one else of hearing this. She removes her hands with a sigh and nods, unlocking her phone. ‘’Is this guy nice to you?’’ I ask, wanting to know.
‘’yeah.. he’s sweet. And Tori gets along well with him.’’ She tells me as she types a message. ‘’As long as Tori knows that he isn’t anything to her.’’ I say.
‘’She doesn’t.. she knows he’s just my friend.’’ Jana assures me with a slight smile as she closes her phone and looks over to the center of the room. My dad’s holding Tori, spinning in circles with her. Cute.
I wonder.. about this guy..
He better not take my place.
I’m the one Jana loves..
even if she thinks otherwise...
