Change Me
Chapter 7
It had been 2 weeks since Harry and Elena had properly spoken. She would guide him to his classes and help him around school, but nothing more than what was needed. Harry had acted indifferent towards Elena’s attitude, giving off the impression that he couldn’t care less, as did Elena.
Harry knew his way around the school and didn’t need Elena’s help anymore, which he was thankful of as he didn’t have to see her as often. She was in most of his classes though; this seemed to bother Harry a lot more than it should. He liked the female attention he got at this school and he sure as hell took advantage of it. Elena had heard that he was with a different girl almost every night; he was going to run out of fuck buddies soon enough but that didn’t stop him. It was an easy way to get his mind off things, hooking up with girls was easy and they’d take him back in a heartbeat if he asked.
Elena would be lying if she said she wasn’t missing the attention he got from Harry. She enjoyed the excitement of being with him, touching him, kissing him. But he acted like he couldn’t care less, he probably couldn’t. Elena did enjoy Harry’s company but she was happy that she turned around and walked away that day. It wasn’t fair on Chase what she was doing and truthfully, it wasn’t fair on herself.

Elena was walking out of the school’s library after it had closed, Chase had texted her, telling her to meet him in the library, over 3 hours ago. She felt tears prick her eyes, he stood her up. A few drops drizzled down her cheeks but she swiftly wiped them away. She felt humiliated, sitting there for over 3 hours, waiting for someone who couldn’t even be bothered to show up.
“Elena?” A husky voice spoke up from behind her. She turned around to see Harry leaning against the wall, a cigarette in hand. The one boy she had been avoiding happened to be here, right now, at this very moment in time.
“Not now, Harry.” She mumbles, continuing to walk off. Harry throws down the cigarette, stomping it out with his foot before jogging after her. He stands in front of her, preventing her from walking any further. Looking down he sees the wet patches on Elena’s cheeks, her eyes were slightly puffy and her breathing was rapid.
“What’s wrong?” He asks, his thumb grazing over her cheek. She pulls away from his touch, leaving him confused.
“I said not now, Harry.” She spits, dodging him and proceeding towards her dorm building. Again, Harry walks in front of her.
“I’m not leaving until you tell me what’s wrong.” He says, looking down at the girl. Elena looks away, avoiding eye contact with him.
“Chase stood me up.” She murmurs, her eyes flicking up to meet Harry’s gaze.
“What a dick.” Harry mutters, his eyes still locked on hers. “Don’t let it bother you.”
“That’s easier said than done.” Elena sniffles, wiping another tear from her cheek.
“C’mon, I’ll walk you back.” Harry says, putting his arm around her. Elena pushes his arm off her shoulder and carries on walking.
“I’m not in the mood.” She mumbles and Harry chuckles, Elena was usually a very perky character.
“My cuddles make everyone feel better.” Harry pout and Elena looks at him, rolling her eyes as a slight smile spreads across her lips.
“You’re a dick.” She murmurs, glancing over at Harry who fakes a look of hurt. He picks her up and slings her over his shoulder, Elena burst out laughing.
“Take it back.” He laughs as she struggles to free from his grip. “I swear to god, I’ll drop you.” He teases, walking up to the dorm building and putting her down. She moves the hair out of her face, looking back up at Harry, a pack of cigarettes in her hand.
Harry pats his back pockets, looking to retrieve the cigarettes that were once there. “You little shit.” He tuts, Elena chuckles, her eyebrows raised.
“Smoking is bad for you.” She warns.
“It’s a stress reliever; I only have 1 a day, if that.” He admits, holding his hand to his heart.
“Nope.” Elena says, placing them into her back pocket. Harry smirks, stepping closer to her. His hands travel round her dainty waist, resting on her backside. His long fingers travel inside each pocket, retrieving the packet and giving her firm arse a tight squeeze before removing themselves, causing Elena to gasp.
“You don’t tell me what I can and can’t do, Elena.” Harry whispers into her ear, sending shivers down her spine.
“And you can’t treat me like all the whores you fuck.” Elena whispers back just as seductively, tuning around and unlocking the door. “Goodnight, Harry.” She murmurs, walking inside and closing the door.
Harry turns around, a smirk evident on his face. He liked this side of Elena, the feisty side. He liked it almost as much as he liked normal Elena. Stuck up, hard-working, uptight, Elena. But obviously he didn’t like her in that way. Elena was a friend, sure he liked to flirt with her but she was attractive, you’d be crazy not to. He liked it like this. Distant friends, if they stayed like this Elena wouldn’t want to get too close to Harry and that was perfect for him. He hated getting close to people, because getting close means letting your guard down, and letting your guard down means getting hurt.
